Talk about a one in a million shot... it fits so snuggly, like it was molded for that very bullet. When I met my wife and we made love, she made the same comment how we connect so closely like we were from the same mold....

This bullet is so romantic, they were meant to meet. His time... was NOW.

using FMJ bullets, the odds of identifying the bullet is lower, compared to forensic evidence of a hollow point bullet
meaning if you want to get away with it, use FMJ

id be curious to know more about that shot: for the bullet to lodge there, it would have had to enter upstream (heart or aorta). a projectile that size would make a big hole. i would guess they'd exsanguinate before making it to the angio suite. still have a little delayed filling of the right iliac.

>>29825187
>>29825265
both show the trajectory crossing the midline. the near-fatal one is lucky as that usually means ~15% survival (not that it would be a good survival), compared with ~65% survival in those where the bullet doesn't cross the midline.

That MRI... his brain looks like it's shrunk in the front.

First off, I'm assuming the individual pictured is ded, but why would the front of the brain shrink back like that? Or is that what brains normally look like?

>>

It's air
Presumably this is preop so it could be a tension pneumocephalis
If postop, it's common. Absorbs over time and, if the brain is normal, it'll return to normal appearance

>>
>>29826628

>>
>>29825279
How would one go about fixing something like that?
From the looks of it there is severe soft tissue damage, the bone is shattered to all fuck and there is tons of bird shot left in there.
Just cut it all of and call it a day?
>>
>>29825130
I don't think enoxeparin or heparin with help with that clot
>>
>>29827073
thankfully muscle and skin can repair itself relatively well, and as long as most of the bone is glued back together well enough, it should set itself up back properly.

However, there will likely be a lot of screws involved, fake bone, along with procedures to scrape up scar tissue, so the arm doesn't get come out completely fucked up. The person will probably not be back to 100%, but it'll remain functonal
>>
>>29827073
yeah that area is probably bloody mush
would take a team of surgeons hours and hours to even have a chance to save it
im not a doctor tho

Not likely but anything is possible
I thought the CT showed artifact from the endotracheal tube, but it could be from bullet fragments or who knows what the hell.

Pubmed search for "postmortem CT/MRI brain gunshot" doesn't show anything that would make it seem likely. There was this that just sounds like a CSI episode:
"Use of postmortem computed tomography to reveal an intraoral gunshot injuries in a charred body."

Usually the postmortem is just a cold steel table.
That's how you get pic related.

"Case Discussion:
Entry wound was found at the level of fourth left intercostal space, without an exit wound. The patient subsequently presented with signs of ischemia in his right lower limb.

Intraoperative angiography shows the head of the projectile embolizing the right iliac artery. "

>>
Are all these headshots from a handgun?

Every gore picture/video on the internet has taught me that a rifle shot to the head will take a fist sized chunk of the skull out of the exit area, and pour badly slurried brains all over the place.

Most of these brains look rather whole.
