So I've recently purchased a shill RAS-47 back in February and needless to say I'm having buyers remorse after Robski of AKOU confirmed they can be grenades after so little rounds.

I was thinking about getting another AK for my birthday and i just don't wanna get fucked again. Come to think of it i think most AK's come from Century these days.

I'm gonna sound like a fucking moron but hear me out, i was thinking about getting a Yugoslavian M70AB2, but guess what?
>Century

I'm too much of a poorfag to go the Arsenal route, and even Arsenals can have issues. Lemme know /k/. Got any good recommendations for AK-47's under 1k?

Do you own Century AK's? My friend has Century AK's imported from Zastava and they don't seem to let him down.

You don't need to do math you just need to take measurements of a couple parts

Fine

>Century-built
Nope.rar

For the record, supposedly the Century M70AB2s were farmed out to smaller builders and are just sold through Century. Definitely the highest-quality non-import you're gonna buy through Century.

I'd still recommend a Zastava or WASR over it though.

Also bear in mind if you're trying to into building AKs with the right tools you're not gonna break even after buying equipment and parts until you're like 3 guns in. And if you're trying to sell those you'd better get a fucking FFL.

If you have the tools already though, why not?
>>
>>29825271
not OP, but I was thinking of getting an FFL to sell parts kit guns. I already have all of the tools I need to build an AK and am building my first one next week.

How much would you guys pay for a quality parts kit AK? I commonly see parts kits available in these nationalities:
>Bulgarian
>Polish
>Romanian
>>
The WASR-10/63 is passable, if it has the optic mount (the old ones which don't feature it are typically rubbish).
The wood is sorta low quality though, so consider replacing that (I recommend just going for plastic)

The RAS-47 is a heaping pile of dogshit, sucks that you fell for it.

The C39 is bad, the C39v2 can be ok.

The Zastava/Yugo/Serb AKs are typically alright, though consider they're not compatible with regular AK furniture and junk.

I think if you could sell adequate quality AKM builds at around 600-700 that'd bring in business.

You should probably have a backup plan in case you can't get parts kits for whatever reason, learn how to make barrels, bolts, gas blocks, pistons.

People don't like Romanian AKs, because they're boring. They look just like an AK, and work just like an AK. They're CHF, and chrome lined.

If you need a cheap AK, I can recommend a rommy. I've owned several WASR's, my draco has been SBR'ed, and my AES-10B was the $500 PSA special.

Never had a malfunction with any of my Rommy AKs.

Any reason you went with an underfolder rather than sidefolder? Just because it's correct to AKMSUs? Or was it easier to install?

I wanna SBR my M92 but I was thinking of putting a triangle folder on it...
>>
>>29825373
i wouldn't really need to learn how to do the machining unless I wanted to get further into the business, it'd just be something I'd be doing for fun on the side. It'd be pretty cool to do custom jobs for people, like krinks or RPK-74s or other hard to find stuff
>>
>>29825475
rear trunnion is different between the various stock types
>>
>>29825536
I'm aware, and I'm aware that AK pistols are built with an underfolding trunnion.

My point is, why choose to have the sides of the receiver drilled for the underfolder stock rather than drilling and tapping the rear trunnion and bolting on a hinge and stock, the way CNCWarrior does with their carbines.

Obviously actually removing the rear trunnion to install a side-folding trunnion is a huge undertaking.

Draco with repro stock.jpg

>>29825475

I would imagine it's personal preference.

I've got two Draco's and an M92 PAP, plan on a standard rifle rear trunnion (so I can mount a wire folder or a standard stock) for one Draco and an underfolder for the other. Plan on the M92 being an underfolder because it's 'correct'.

I considered a third Draco and getting one of the JMAC repro AIMR stocks but it never happened.
>>
>>29825475
Easier to install, and the most compact package available.

I used a Hungarian folder, because it locks on both sides, but follows the same locking pattern as the original Romanian folder.

Not a fan of single lock underfolders, they feel inadequate and a loose. This underfolder feels indestructible, plus, the parts were very cheep to source.

The reinforcement plate under the grip strengthens the receiver, too. Another innovative Hungarian addition.

I'd opt for a triangle folder if you need to prioritize comfort, but for size, underfolders are significantly more compact folded.

You're right, it is mostly preference. I just wanted to build a budget SBR that could fit in a backpack.

Went with the draco, just because the barrel would outlast me. From there, had to decide what kind of stock. Went with the underfolder based on compactness and general utility.

I sourced the complete Hungarian underfolder assembly, with rear trunnion and cut receiver for $60. I knew it would fit, and fit better than a Romanian underfolder. I've never had an issue making a cheek weld with underfolders, but I do understand a lot of people have complaints, so try a few out before you commit.

I agree. I'd never permanently alter a collectable rifle, but people who take modern production AKs to be sacred are fooling themselves.

They're tools, and a knowledge of how they work let's you make changes to better suit the platform for different needs.

I won't argue 7.62x39 is an amazing round, but it is certainly capable. There is undeniable utility in sharing mags, and parts, between what is effectively an identical platform, altered for different roles.

9/10 times, I'd grab my WASR. It is the best configuration for general utility. An illuminated 4x optic, is perfect for pushing out the effective range of 7.62x39.

In a modern sense, there's not much use for the RPK. It is certainly a lot of fun. But, you can bet if push ever came to shove, I'd put it in the hands of someone who could make use of it.

All fun guns, really showing the versatility of the platform. I do want to acquire a mini-draco, and work on a PDW type platform along the lines of a micro-galil.

Some trench art on my foregrip. Asked apex if they could pick out a donkey dong set when the Balkan surplus furniture was rolling out at $25. They were kind enough to oblige.

I also have an RPK stock and furniture set from them with a name carved into it, but I'm a little burnt out on wood work haha.

>Build AK
>not doing machining

Then you will probably need to buy the tools you'll need to build AK's properly.
>>
>>29825693
>>29825727
The issue with the underfolder stocks is usually the recoil vibrating the metal rod touching your face.
>>
>>29825742
AKOU did a 5000 round torture test of an RAS47. Internals got chewed to shit, front and rear sights didn't survive, and the shit wood fell apart.

Then he checked the headspacing and the bolt was closing over a no-go gauge, which is a much bigger deal than any of the above.
>>
>>29825983
Same thing I heard with the VZ2008. I wrapped the stock with parachord before shooting, because I was worried it would hurt my dad's face.

Took it off after the first shot. Ended up selling the gun, but what I've noticed, is people tend to be overly sensitive and sensational.

I've had guns knock me around in larger calibers, I won't lie about that. But my 20 inch AR made me more uncomfortable when the buffer tube vibrated into my head. I've found a sharp recoil much less distracting than the buffer tube.

It all comes down to personal preference, I suppose. I've never had issues with cheek slap or weld in intermediate cartridges, but I suppose I had no way to invalidate those who claim to have.

All I can recommend is shooting the gun. If it hurts you, find out what you are doing wrong. If you aren't doing anything wrong, then you'd be better suited by a different system.
>>
>>29825742
The headspacing is hit or miss so you need to check yours to see if it needs to have that fixed, and even if it doesn't the cheap casting they used for the parts means they won't last for very many rounds.
>>
>>29826049
Well the AKMS I'm using that I noticed this issue on is falling apart, because I didn't use a heat treated receiver. But that stock will definitely jar my whole fucking head around if I get a good cheek-weld on it.

It's like a soft smack in the teeth that slightly disorients me. Gonna rebuild it on a childersguns heat treated blank sometime soon. The rivets are holding in place, FCG pin holes are loose.

Also, anyone ever have stabilization problems with heavier 5.45?

They were the flavor of the month for a minute there.

Scuttlebutt is that their guns are having some issues but apparently their customer service is God-tier.

Who knows how much of it is systematic problems with the company's production and how much is a few mad spergs with lemons being loud.
