One of them full auto glocks would suffice for mag dumping a bear. An alternative is some high calibre revolver. You'd need a calibre that can penetrate bear skulls.

.44 magnum or 12 gauge with slugs, depending on how much weight you're willing to deal with and how much you're moving around. I carry a .44 hiking in southern Missouri.
Also, I suggest bear mace. It really can work as a deterrent, and you don't want to fight a bear.

Get a big ass revolver (.44 or bigger) of some kind, then load it with soft point ammo. Although in general I wouldn't recommend using any handgun for bear. A high powered rifle or shotgun with slugs would be your best bet. Buy yourself a Grizzly or Model 1887.
Went hiking in NC/TN for three days and carried my m&p 9. Black bears won't usually bother you and they're afraid of loud noises anyways. 17 rounds of 9mm fmj should take care of the other two threats as well
