Well, /k/ after getting out after my 4 years and lurking I finally said fuck it and decided to get a gun.... A SIG P320 Full, in .45.
It's my first weapon, and I wanted something ultimately reliable since I want to be safe depending on what neighborhood my girlfriend and I move to, as well as simple range time for the sake of it.
I wouldn't mind getting into some extra classes and such but as for me, all I have is basic handling and shooting (Since if any of you been in Navy basic know, its not much) so I was wondering what advice/tips on handling, cleaning and just general care besides the obvious such as keeping it clean and well maintained after a day of shooting.
Also, general discussion.

I do like the recoil and overall grouping that a 9 offers, but I honestly just went with the "muh stopping power" argument and decided a .45 all around should do what I wanted in terms of defense.
If I, at a later date, get really into target shooting, I'll probably work on getting a 9 or .22 for the sake of it.

Yeah...you fucked up. If you had some legitimate reason as to why you wanted a .45 like having a 1911 with a bunch of .45 already then sure.
But you have this preconcieved notion that 9mm is weaker than .45. But okay, apparently some people can shoot a .45 quicker and more effectively than a 9mm.

OP, people are giving you shit for your purchase as I did too but don't feel that bad for it. It's still a good gun. Just know that you're going to be spending a little bit more on ammo and have less capacity for no real reason other than a big bore.
You should look into getting to reloading if you want to take full advantage of .45. It's a retardedly easy caliber to load.

When at the range, trying the different SIGs they had, I tried DAO and DA/SA in different calibers as well, but I generally liked the feel from the .45

Remington Golden Saber +P Bonded actually, I use win PDX in my LCP. Besides that what's your beef with hornandy, their critical defense is amazing.

HK's don't need a lot of lube, but excess oil isn't going to hurt anything. What you're seeing under the slide probably just "sprayed" off the slide rail the last time he shot it.
