How does /k feel about the USPc in .40?
I ask because there's one in a gun store near me, and although I'd honestly prefer it in 9mm I don't know how often I'll see one of these.
I plan on having this as my cc but I'm really new to firearms and I hear a lot of bad things about it here.

It's a gun for small guys.

I have one in 45 and it's awesome, it's my favorite pistol bar none. Don't know much about the .40. Haters gonna hate

Welcome newfag
There's nothing bad to be said about a USP
.40 is an adequate round for self defense, and the hot 180gr loads are kick ass
If you'd prefer one in 9mm, look online or have your shop order one.
Have fun and make sure to practice

It's great. I have a USPc in .40 and another one in 9mm, but the .40 is really where it's at for this gun. The recoil is very well controlled and the capacity is pretty good. I've never had a malfunction with mine, and I honestly think it's one of the best compact .40 caliber handguns you can buy.

As for how often you'll see one again, they are extremely common guns. Just don't pay too much for one. New prices will range between as low as $775 to $900 online. You may have to wait for a sale to get a new one for a good price, but guns in the <$800 price range are out there. Used prices can go as low as $500 if you buy it from a private party through Armslist or something like that.

If you're going to get any gun in .40, the USP isn't a bad choice, it was designed around that round. However, I got the 9mm because my other handgun is a 9. I believe the 9 and 40 have the same frame, and it's marginally smaller than the 45 frame.

My USPc .40 has served me well as a daily carry and "only pistol" for, what... I guess eight or nine years now. Countless hundreds of rounds through, from WWB to Speer Gold Dot; never a single FTF, never a single FTE, no "break in period" BS... I have a neighbor who has the DAO variant (mine is variant 1), and the slide lock spring failed after a few thousand rounds, but replacing it was no problem. The only thing I could say negative about mine is that the tritium in the sights is slowly dimming. But that's what tritium does; I'll just have to replace it in a few years.

I've owned and carried a USPc in .45 for almost 9 years. Hands down my favorite gun.

If someone had a gun to my head and told me that he was going to throw me off a plane if I didn't pick a .40 caliber handgun to own, I would ask him why he would shoot a man before throwing him out of a plane and tell him I'd get a USP.

They were designed around .40 and despite other guns suffering accelerated wear and more felt recoil because those guns were shoehorned to house .40, it isn't the case with the USP. Just know that it is a superbly chunky gun for what it is.

I'm pretty sure the .40 version is thinner than the 9, according to HK's spec sheet.

You are incorrect. The .40c and 9c are the same size while the .45c is a little bigger.

either of those by itself is shit, but both? you might as well be on the business end of a gay blowbang.

My mistake, I was looking at the spec sheets of the P2000SK the other day along with the USP's. Weird though, that gun is actually slightly wider in 9mm than .40.
