Saw this on TFB today. What does /k/ think?

I really like the look of these kits and they seem more practical than most non-PC chest rigs.

That's a fanny pack for your chest faggot
>>
>>29812847
It's all the utility of a fanny pack without the shame of actually wearing a fanny pack.

Still not worth $150 though.

I like the idea of putting a mag pouch on it, and stowing it in the truck or somewhere if need be

why would you need all that shit on your chest?

Seems pretty practical for hiking/hunting if you wanted to carry.
>>
they seem cool but pretty expensive

i could just buy a condor t&t pouch, a few meters of webbing strap and a some buckles and have my own kit bag for 35$
>>
>>29812847
If you're not wearing a backpack, wear a fanny pack instead (better weight on hips than on shoulders, lighter because of less strapping).

If you are wearing a backpack, use built in hip pouch instead on a light pack, or a detachable hip pouch on a heavy pack, for the same reasons.

Best case I can see for this bag is taking the straps off and attaching it to existing backpack suspension, but it's still no better than an equivalent detachable fanny pack of any description.

>why does a fat operator need instant access to a mess kit?
You're really asking this?
>>
>>29812861
Anyone own one of these? I'd like to know if it gets too cumbersome with a pistol and all loaded up
>>
>>29812847
This looks stupid.

If you're going to have a piece of gear to carry a pistol and other small shit, this is worse in every possible way than a belt.
>>
>>29817194
Not if you're backpacking. Those hipbelts are way too fat to put a holster on, plus you look like tool OCing a pistol while backpacking.
>>
So... it's a fanny pack.
Except on your chest.
A titty pack.

Why not just use a god damn bag.

I use a kenai chest holster for inna woods hiking/camping with a Glock 29. Works better imho. Super fast draw and can use with backpacks easily.
>>
>>29817353
I have no issues with a Mystery Ranch + duty drop holster.

And if you're worried about looking like a tool, then inflatable chest rig is also pretty gay.
>>
>>29812847
>so, after all this testing we basically want a fanny pack?
>no no no, We'll put it up high. Like a boob purse.
>that isn't much better.
>yeah, don't let anyone say boob purse. or fanny pack around this thing.
I am saving to get a nice PC w/plates and pouchs so I might just be jello.
>>
>>29812877

No, it's a fanny pack that fits over your mantits that comes with all the regular shame of wearing a fanny pack and webbing so you can look like even more of a doofus by strapping more shit to it.

>>29813690

Nailed it.

>Drop leg
>Not being a tool

You may pick one and only one my friend

But in all honesty its not that asspie looking if you get one of their non-tactical kits. A drop leg would definitely work, but again you run into the issue of open carry douchbaggery.

I've seen several people that just carry it in the water bottle holder, they're usually canted slightly anyways so it seems like that'd help make it easier to draw.

I have the heavy recon, and like other anon said it is perfect for when you go on an extended hike and the hip belt on the pack takes up the real-estate that would be occupied by a belt holster. Paired with one of these
>http://www.ruger.com/products/sr556TD/models.html
it is really handy. Carry all the essentials you use on the trail on your chest and the things you need when you stop in your pack.
>>
>>29817892
shit wrong link. Would be pretty baller if you could stuff an ar in there though.

Well I'll be damned. I was just playing with a similar idea last night but it was alternating between the Alice flap holster in that spot and a full on chest rig made of leather with a flap holster. Because reasons.

Started off as a way to conceal while /out/ with a big pack and hip straps being am issue. It spiraled into pre-50s tacticool from there
