Half-assed paint job on the upper handguard, but otherwise it looks fine to me. I actually think the sks looks good in matte black and I'm a fan of the monte carlo stock.

If you had a classic car that was in such bad shape that it needs a total rebuild, which would be better: doing a total restoration back to inferior, more expensive technology, or modern, more effective, cheaper stuff that does the same job? Now imagine that instead of a classic muscle car, it's a 1984 Ford Mustang with a I4 engine. That's what the SKS is, a relatively common, inexpensive, and rudimentary when compared to its contemporaries. I like original wooden stocks as much as anyone else, but if my SKS's stock got broken, I'd probably drop it in a monte carlo.
