I originally bought them because I had ass problems. But now they're the only underwear I wear now. Incredibly durable, extremely comfy, most of the time I don't even wear pants when in my house, just my underwear and a T-shirt.
You can find them on clearance on occasion from Sierra Trading Company and Overstock for like $15-$20. For the price of most other sport underwear, I'd say they're significantly better.

I ended up going commando with baby powder. Never had a chafing issue even on longest rucks.
For multiday missions were we never really made anything better than a hasty perimeter it struck me as better than underwear. Underwear would get nasty in those conditions, and we never had the leisure to be able to take off our pants and boots to change out for a fresh pair. Going commando made it easier to stick a baby wipe down the pants for a quick cleaning and then toss some fresh powder on.
