The Old Thread is dead, Long live the new QTD thread.

Reposting questions from dead thread I read and want to see answered:
>did anyone ever created a pump-action shotgun with a tube magazine OVER the barrel?

>what South American (and/or Central American) country has the best (or least) gun laws?

>planning on gunsmithing school, live in Florida
Is this a bad idea?

>what are some "virtual reloading" sites where I can plug in some powder and bullet weights between different calibers?

>what is the absolute heaviest/strongest 30-06 load that can be shot from a HCAR/BAR, and properly fit loaded into a BAR magazine?

>what is the typical sub-load for .300blk and what are the weights of the powder and bullet, as well as the dimensions of the round once assembled?

Would you guys prefer a RIGHT SIDE magazine-fed rifle that ejects downward and lets you keep a low prone with any magazine type and is essentially ambidextrous
>OR
would you prefer a typical bottom magazine fed right side ejecting rifle that does obstruct your prone depending on magazine and is not ambidextrous/lefties eat brass

>BUT DA MAGAZINE WILL FUG WITH LEFTIES IN LOW READY!
I would like to point out that the german's FG42 had the magazine mounted on the left side, and this did not much inhibit the majority right-handed german users.

I am putting my fictional magazine on the right because I think that would most benefit the most users, but I know it doesn't disable left-handed users. The downward eject is nice too.

Parroting what I have heard from others here, it's primarily mounting sights and scopes on fudd guns for hunting season. You won't make much money because you won't get much business.

I'm thinking of getting a red dot for competition. I had originally been considering an aim point PRO, but if anyone has any suggestions for something more appropriate for competing, I'm all ears. My other thoughts were to go with something light and compact like a vortex SPARC II or a mini red dot like an RMR.

Reposting this question from another thread to see if anyone here had other recommendations

I started a blue collarish job that involves a lot of outdoor working, because of this I'm beginning to realize how awesome cargo pants are for their durability, flexibility, breathability in heat, dozens of pockets etc. So I was wondering if anyone had recommendations on quality cargo pants. maybe something thats kinda /fa/ and tapers at the bottom (not all wide legged and boot cut like most work pants)

I have a 1-6x, I'd just like a red dot for courses that don't require the same range as a magnified optic. Especially since a magnified optic is going to add weight and be slower to bring on target.

I'm thinking of buying a rifle. For recreation purposes, hunting, etc. Something long range, but not too heavy, a rifle for an amateur, probably semi-auto. It's going to be my first gun ever, so I have no idea what to look out for when choosing one. Could you recommend me something?

And optics too, naturally.

My budget: $1.5-2k

Thanks.

because the t1 is a better sight
the eotech had issues with zero if they went from ultra hot to ultra cold really quick (not an issue for a normal shooter, but the military has standards)

also buy a primary arms advanced micro for half the price, it's 90% as good as the aimpoint

With that said my roommate did have one package jacked by customs and he just got a letter saying to knock it the fuck off. He got a few more sent but stopped after a while. Although, knockoff sports jerseys are not weapon accessories.

Picked up a Primary Arms 30mm Deluxe Mount and their PA 4-14 but the ring hats don't sit flush when torqued to even 20 in/lbs. My inner /o/ sees this like a wheel not flush to the hub and is just waiting to sheer at the bolts.

>>
>>29809242

Unless you are a complete retard, you won't be subjecting those screws to any kind of shear force at all. If you do, the scope itself will probably fail before the screws.
>>
>>29809320
is that going to happen to the new bolt head as well or did someone just put stupid hot loads into the gun? and is it dangerous to use the rifle before i replace the bolt head?

JMB was literally inventing the modern pistol. They're getting pretty close to perfect with the most modern designs. Until something revolutionary happens in weapon design akin to developing smokeless powder, people are just ironing out the wrinkles of something that already works very well.
>>
>>29809303
if you don't have to shoot anything it'll probably last. if you do have to shoot something expect it to break from the recoil.

My brother recently got an AM40-A6 in .300WM, he's firing hand loaded ballistic tip (polymer)185gn projectile with 55gn powder, from a 26inch barrel, 1 in 9 twist.

Here's a good litmus test. This is a large fun store in Kittery, Maine. Their prices usually aren't too bad, but classics and rare pieces are priced accordingly. http://www.ktpguns.com/results.php?manufacturer=any&caliber=&action=RIFLE%3A%20LEVER&model=any

In general, >>29800661 this guy is right. Old fuddy-fuddy Durr rifles (.30-30) are gonna be your best bet. Don't worry, they're incredibly powerful, per a very credible source (Senator Kennedy)(he was very good at killing people!). http://www.ktpguns.com/results.php?manufacturer=any&caliber=&action=RIFLE%3A%20LEVER&model=any

"Another rifle caliber, the 30.30 caliber, was responsible for penetrating three officers' armor and killing them in 1993, 1996, and 2002. This ammunition is also capable of puncturing light-armored vehicles, ballistic or armored glass, armored limousines, even a 600-pound safe with 600 pounds of safe armor plating."

Didn't get to ask army friend now that I don't see him that often anymore, anyone know if the belt-fed machinegun system is a more reliable feeding system of shooting full auto than using a regular stick mag or drum mag that works "80% of the time, it works everytime!" Got a gun store guy who's been in military says they're replacing M249 SAWs and the like with better rifles with improved designed drum magazines, but claims also that there are statutes in the geneva or hague conventions or whatever that says service rifles can't have magazines exceeding a certain amount or fire faster than 600-700 rpm? This guy uneducated or fooling simply?
>>
I'm looking to get in and buy my first pistol. Been going to ranges off and on since I was a kid, but I live in California, so fuck me, right?

I'm looking at the SP2022 right now. I rented one in 9mm last night and put a couple hundred rounds through it, and found it accurate as fuck. Aside from the fact that my palm is a bit too wide for the grip, and I'm a lefty (making the slide release a pain in the ass to reach), I found the thing pleasant to fire. Any recommendations in a similar price range? Is this thing a winner? Would .40 be better? I read that the .40 can be converted to .357 and 9mm easily; any issues/risks there?
>>
>>29799408
i would think left hand magazine to be better because you will be reloading with it more than you will be standing at low ready , unless this is like for a book or comic and this is meant to be fictional military issue. but if this is for normal everyday range toy use, then yeah ease of reloading trumps low ready comfort

Buying my first rifle tomorrow. .22 CZ452, been posting about it for a while.

Should I lube/oil it up after I get it? Live in australia and buddy's not going range shooting until Sunday, so I can't zero the fucker until then.

Anything else I should do with a .22 bolt gun after I buy it? I plan to sit around his place sitting at the table in his downstairs area working the bolt until it becomes second nature/get rid of some of the grittyness/sticky bolt issues new rifles have.

It'll be my first gun, and she's real pretty.
>>
If you have an AR pistol and you put on a 16"+ barrel can you legally shoulder it without a stamp?
>>
>>29811680
Lots of guns have factory preservative on them. Standard procedure after buying is to clean that shit off then lube.
>>
>>29811482
The M249 SAW works better with belts than with the magazine adapter. However, belts are generally more finicky, because you need to make sure it's feeding right.

The Muhrines are replacing their old, worn the fuck out SAWs with the M27 IAR, which will be mag fed, perhaps with drums. Jury's out on this one still- the drum they tested is pretty shit, but otherwise it can eat from STANAGs

>claims also that there are statutes in the geneva or hague conventions or whatever that says service rifles can't have magazines exceeding a certain amount or fire faster than 600-700 rpm?
fudd-tier retardation.

Yes, if it meets the overall length requirement of 26". Otherwise, no; however, you may at that point attach a forward hand grip without it being an AOW.
>>
>>29799408
Left side might help as for a right handed shooter that puts it in the right spot for reloads with the support hand. It also shrinks the overall profile.

>>29800450
Maybe for certain rounds. My SP101 is accurate just fine to an IPSC at even 100 yards.

>>29801719
For what, CCW? Primary weapon? Sidearm to a rifle?
CC I would say 1 for mag related failure, min 3 for primary weapon plus the one in the gun, 2 extra if sidearm.
>>
>>29801719
For a rifle I would say 3+1 is the minimum. I generally go with 4+1 or double up the outer pouches for 6+1 as the ever present 210 standard.

>>29811698
Correct, you can take a pistol to rifle config and back again but not the rifle to pistol.
>>
>>29811588
.40 can be converted to .357 Sig not magnum. Not saying you didn't know this, but I've known two people who didn't.
Converting a .40 Glock to a .357 Sig is just a barrel swap. You can also do that with 9mm, but I think it recommend to switch out the extractor. I'm guessing its the same with Sigs.

Check you the FN line of plastic fantastics if you can get them in CA. I think they are amby.

Saying that PTR rifles due to their actions has a tendency to wreck all forms of optics after a couple of hundred rounds. Is there truth to that statement, was it full bs, something that'll happen eventually but with a considerable more rounds or something else?

SO, a local funshop has an SKS for sale with the tapco bodykit and a top rail mount installed for 250$. THe problem? the person who installed the "upgrades" screwed the pooch and damaged the safety

Now I know I can just swap out the trigger group for about 80 bucks plus or minus, still a good deal, but I was wondering If I could simply remove the safety. I know thats a terrible idea, but hey, I'm spitballing here. WOuld simply removing the damaged safety cause the rifle to become inoperable?

I've been told that when the gun is fired it gets through a few rounds before engaging hte safety which required removal of the trigger group to reset. so, what are my options here?

Should I get the SKS? What are the odds the previous owner screwed it up even more? and until I replace the trigger group can I just remove the safety and live dangerously and stupidly.

Also, how hard would it be to simply replace the safety.

I don't think it's the gun's issue. When the light is on, gun jams every 4 or so rounds. Light off and it's the very definition of reliability.

It just doesn't make any sense though. Can over-torquing the light put enough compression on the polymer frame to fuck up the slide movement?

Well, the top (one with tan) is pretty nice, that magpul buttstock is like 70 dollars, the various other magpul stuff is like another 60-70 dollars, the front and rear sights cost like ~$100, the suppressor must have cost a pretty penny plus a tax stamp, plus that looks like a fairly high end rail system. Pretty nice gun prolly around $1000-$1200 w/o suppressor included in cost

The bottom rifle is an m16 a4 clone and I think aero has them for sale for around $1000 so it's pretty high end too

Alright, retract my previous statement. Looks like it is technically legal to bring them in without going through shit. Just got an Aimpoint PRO, few things bugging me about it

I'm trying to figure out if I got a fake or a lemon or if I'm just being OCD or what

- if you look at it from the front, the front glass / whatever kind of clip/ring that's holding it, looks crooked
- seems like i can see rough/unfinished edges of the front glass when looking thru (maybe related to issue #1)
- when turned all the way up, theres like a red ring all around the outside of the sight picture (maybe this is normal ?)
- some kinda manu defect / "blob" of some shit on top of the battery compartment
- no battery cap retainer (altho seems this is a new change from what I read, and most ppl including aimpoint themselves haven't updated the product description images)

Was pretty excited to get it after reading all the hype, have to say I'm a bit dissapointed.

Should I return it to where I bought it ? (Midway - dunno if there's some BS restock fee or what)

or

Should I contact aimpoint directly to see if it's legit / maybe see if I can get them to replace it ?

Idk, at the moment I'm feeling like I wasted $432

That is a very ignorant viewpoint

Can you load individual rounds into a K31 through the breach without a stripper clip? I was looking at some pictures and the breach looks pretty narrow so it seems like it would be hard to stick your fingers in to push the rounds into the mag.

How do you think America would respond if host countries of their military bases ask to shoulder a percentage less of the operation costs per occurrence of American soldiers acting a fool i.e, running over kids, raping bitches, stabbing people, robbing people, holding private air shows that bring down the house, etc?

whats the general rule for being outside of city limits to be able to shoot legally?
>>
>>29833683
Be 150 yards away from a road, trail, or campsite and have a dirt backstop. Don't be a cunt and shoot at trees.
Make sure it's not private property.
Unless it's posted otherwise you should be good.

I got some 303 surplus from a gunshow this weekend. It came in a cardboard box in intervals of 32.
It's magnetic, no headstamps, and the primer is purple
tl;dr what the fuck did I buy

I'm trying to piece together a list of necessary parts for reloading, any help would be insanely appreciated

>which is the better tumbler , vibratory or rotary ?

This question will be extremely specific,

I have a
deactivated AK-47 because I live in britbongistan
and I cannot for the life of me put the dust cover back onto it.

I line up the front end of the cover with the small grooves and get the butt of the recoil spring inside the hole at the back, but every time I try and press it down the lock just won't go in the hole, it just pops off at the front end.

How the fuck do I get it on? Baring in mind I can't rack the charging handle.

>I'm not the one who ordered them
>they're in my name, spelled correctly
>only a handful of people actually know my name and address
>they all claim to know nothing about this
>it's starting to freak me out
What do /k/?

Line it up and give it a good smack right above where the recoil spring guide goes in the back.
>>
>>29835154
I've gotten it on now, i'll just post what I did in the other thread.

>>29835132 (anon)

>Thanks a lot, turns out from the previous times I had tried the dust cover had gotten slightly bent so the back wouldn't fit in properly, so I just bent it back with some pliers and it fit in easily after that using the method you described, thanks a lot.

Guess I just lined it up wrong when I smacked it

Yeah that doesn't help.

Vz 58 pistols are legal. Just no one has made a dedicated from scratch purpose built "pistol" receiver. The Vz58 "pistol" submitted to the lab was just a rifle receiver (according to the RCMP) with a short barrel and no stock. If someone were to build a receiver as a dedicated pistol from inception to raw billet to finished "pistol" then we should be able to have 10Rd vz mags. However you would likely need to document every step and even then it is iffy because of the dictatorial system the lab set up.

All you'd have to do is rotate the gun 9 ninety degrees to the right, and then use support hand to reload the now "top facing" magazine well.

You could do this while keeping your shooting hand on trigger (with proper TD I expect).

>you spend much more time with your gun at the low ready than you do reloading

>this could still be reloaded rather fast

Would adding a barrel extension improve ballistics on a mac 11, or would it just destabilize the bullet?
>>
>>29835594
It would improve the ballistics of the pistol calibers slightly. Those rounds were made for shorter barrels to begin with, so adding length past 6 inches or so runs into diminishing returns for velocity. I think the Thompson had a 10.5 inch barrel, MP40 had a 10 inch. They probably stopped there because the extra velocity from a longer barrel wasn't worth it

How much do those Holland and Holland guns cost?
And other than the engravings do they do anything special?
>>
Want to get a big bore lever action for fun and possibly hunting. 44 or 45-70? Plan on getting a 44 revolver eventually, but 45-70 is just cool.

Grandma died and half of her home is almost toxic with mold and mildew, she was incontinent the poor old whore.

What kind of respirator cannisters should I use when scrubbing everything with a very high concentration of bleach to water 8 or ten hours a day. Going to take a while to make the place habitable.

Thanks in advance.

Should I continue buying milsurp or should i just save up and build an AR in preparation for the possibility of the Hilldog.
>>
>>29838172
fuck yeah I'd do it. DPMS AR10s are supposed to be pretty good, and the C39s are looked down upon in the AK community due to Century's manufacturing decisions.
