Apparently the Russians have developed a pistol some time ago that is silent without a suppressor. It shoots a special cartridge (SP-4) that pushes a piston when shot, which in return pushes the bullet out. The piston traps the gas inside the cartridge.

Can an American company possibly copy this design? Would it be popular?
>>
The ATF would probably require a tax stamp on each individual bullet.
>>
A video of how it sounds like. Silent than most pistols with suppressors.

Dude, shut the fuck up. What the fuck do you want? The designer to stroke you off? I'm getting tired of you people shitposting against russia every fucking day. Like, fuck dude, it's not even a complicated idea to make a silenced pistol like that. Why the fuck would they fake it? Did a vatnik fuck your mom or something, Christ
>>
>>29793614
Well it's hard to take sunday afternoon TV show material seriously. It's just a subsonic 7.62 with a fancier gas blowback expansion system.
>>
Here's the best translation I can give you, guys. Slavbro, not russian.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K73kKODFyzw

"It's called 'special automatic pistol' using silent P4 ammo. As the name implies, it's made not for the army, rather for special forces. Naturally for delicate situations, you'd use a silencer for such guns, but our constructors decided otherwise, creating special silent ammunition."

"Our goal here was to create a silent weapons system. What does that mean exactly? It means the bullet velocity reaches but not exceeds the speed of sound."

The rest is how from 10 metres out you won't even hear where the shot came from exactly.
>>
>>29793024

This isn't even an issue of it being Russian propaganda it's just you not understanding how guns fucking work, everyone can see how this works via the expansion gasses being contained inside the case and being leaked slowly over time it's not a fucking gas blowback either it's direct blow back. I can almost see you desperately trying to google to and try to salvage this shitty piece of linguistic cancer but you can't.

Here's an article by an american http://www.sadefensejournal.com/wp/?p=307, the DB was 125 which is quite substantial, not that you would know given the only reference you probably fucking have is your airshit.

There would be a very limited market and the gun grabbers would love it since it would be a gun who's only conceivable purpose is silent executions.

I can't envision any gun maker wanting to make such a product.

the doubt in question was how much makeup was put on for entertainment purposes. do you inherently trust media to be forthcoming?

This was wrong and any retard should know better, he is clearly lower than the average retard.

Anyway, the ATF declares captive piston ammo to be a NFA items, so 200 a shot in addition to no being able to reload. I'd leave it.

>why don't you make it xboxheug for slightly more Db reduction?

It seems to occupy a rather niche role as a very close quarters and compact quiet weapon. I'm curious as to what the doctrine is for this gun and who it's issued to.

The US actually had a similar program for tunnel rats using a milled out S&W and captive ammo, I'm guessing it never really got anywhere after Vietnam becasue of the widespread use of thermobarics/ just getting them when they popped out of their tunnels instead of sending guys after them.
>>
>>29793567
Bro, this technology has been around since the 70's and was used extensively during the cold war. The KGB even got creative and started trolling the CIA with it: they would use a 7.62 bullet from an AK but fired out of a pistol with those captive gas rounds. Made it look like dudes had been shot up with a rifle but no one had heard anything.
>>
>>29800770
have source for that? seems iffy given the fact there would be a distinctive different wound pattern than a rifle given they travel at like 800ish FPS

"Veterinary Pistol"
I'll assume this is for putting animals down? If so why not a captive bolt gun? Or has the CIA started drafting vets?
>>

It's intended for putting animals down, particularly deer other similarly sized animals. I read somewhere (don't remember where and can't find source) that the noise level is roughly equal to that of someone slamming a car door.

The "bolt" in this context doesn't refer to the traditional bolt of a firearm. A captive bolt gun propels forward a "bolt" (captivated projectile) which retracts back into the device afterwards.
Some simple thinking could've cleared this up. What idiot would design, let alone produce, a firearm where the bolt (in the traditional context) isn't captive? Every time you fire, the bolt would go flying backwards out of the gun and into your face.
>>
>>29796552
>The term "Firearm Silencer” or "Firearm Muffler” means any device for silencing, muffling, or diminishing the report of a portable firearm, including any combination of parts, designed or redesigned, and intended for the use in assembling or fabricating a firearm silencer or firearm muffler, any part intended only for use in such assembly or fabrication.
