>Vietnam thread
I had a grandpa who was a LRRP team leader. He doesnt talk in detail about any of his missions, just tells some of the more general things like how they operated and slept, and what happened when they made contact. He got show during extraction which ended his military career.

Met Bob Howard in Kuwait in 06 when he was doing a USO Tour, had literally no idea about SOG before that.
Got into John Plaster's books after that (Howard was promoting them), read his first book in three days. Have read it a few times since, and others on SOG.
Guys were insane, batshit crazy insane.
BTW: If I could've, I would have taken Bob with us. Guy had a Joe's sense of humor even when he was nearing croaking.

One of my dad's friends was in MACV-SOG after a stint in Force Recon. Dude was pretty crazy. He drove like a maniac and joked about killing people all the time.
One of my neighbors growing up was in Air Cav, and he was probably worse, though. Guy was legitimately messed up from PTSD and would do scary shit sometimes. He was also super abusive to his wife and kid.
The Ontos was cool as fuck looking.

I don't think you understand how bad of situations they put themselves into

My grandpa dropped napalm in the air force. He hasn't said shot about it to me. I only know because my mom told me he talked about it one time to his immediate family and then never did again. He doesn't really strike you as the ptsd type but it really fucked him up. He sent all his medals and awards back to the president upon returning and became a hippy.
>>29785287
>doesn't know about the CIA/SOG being completely infiltrated by north vietnamese agents who fed them false information during the entirety of the conflict
