I was looking at getting my first hammer fired SA/DA pistol. around the $500 range prefered. so far my top pick is the sig sp2022 9mm. anyone with any experience with this gun or anything in similar range?
>>
Not at all comfortable grip angle, to be honest. Trigger's meh.
Weren't CZ75s DA/SA, get one of those, they are beasts.
>>
>>29776368
topgunsupply occasionally gets german p226 trade ins at that price range. SP2022 is pretty good and it's underrated but keep in mind that the trigger will never be as good as a 226's and the mags cost ~$35 each.

>500

got this gun for 425 bucks brand new when they just came out, youre being overcharged

its a good starter pistol

So the grip angle of every other firearm in existence besides Glock is uncomfortable?

>It has the same grip angle of a CZ75 bro
>>
>>29776475
thats just my range. my local gun shop is charging about that for the one i looked at. one question though, all of the ones i see online are external extractor and the ones theyre selling are internal. is there a major performance difference?

>>29776423
ive fired a friends cz75, fun gun shoots great but idk theres something about the slide being buried that puts me off of them

Look at the p226's curves.

Smith and Wesson 5906s can be had on the cheap.
>>
>>29776368
Theres nothin wrong with the sp2022 but I highly recommend getting a 226 or a 229 either used or new for a little more since youre almost guaranteed to want something more than an entry tier gun very soon.
This is assuming you already handled a couple different guns and prefer sig ergonomics over like the cz or a beretta

I got my FNX9 for about $500 NiB through gunbroker, and it's fantastic. Just jew around for a bit and you'll find a decent auction with no reserve.

I had a SP2022, hated everything about it. Get a CZ P-07. Trust me dude, it's FAR superior in every single aspect.

>Extremely low CoG and bore axis - exceptionally balanced and virtually no muzzle flip
>Far better grip shape (best of CZ's entire line) and texture
>Awesome SA trigger, acceptable DA trigger

I'm extremely picky and couldn't find a single flaw with the CZ whereas I couldn't find much to be positive with about the 2022. The only thing I'd give a slight edge to on the 2022 is that the slide has a little bit better of a finish (though the CZ is fine) and Slide machining looked a little bit better.

I thought bore-axis and DA/SA were memes, that CZ's were cheap shit with bad machining and bad finish until I got the CZ. It is easily the most balanced and best shooting Polymer or otherwise 9mm I've ever shot and I instantly fell in love with it. It's the ONLY gun I've ever bought that blew away my expectations in every regard.

I've owned and shot both the SP2022 and CZ P-07 so if you have any detailed questions regarding the two I'd be happy to answer. As much as it sounds like I'm shitting on the SP2022, they're reliable and well-made, but they just ergonomically awful and Polymer Sigs really emphasizes how high the bore axis is and how low the grip is. I can deal with an Alloy Sig but the SP2022 is extremely mediocre.

So, yeah, try to hold both in person but if you had to order one online, get the CZ and you'll love it.

And if you're in to Revolvers at all and know a little bit, think of the Balance of the SP2022 like a 4" GP100 and think of the balance of the CZ P-07 more like a 4" S&W 19 or 66.

The balance and ergonomic difference can not be overstated - it's night and day. Your hand is up so much higher on the CZ and the weight is so much lower. The difference in shooting the two is dramatic.

The SP2022 (9mm) feels like you're shooting a .40 in terms of flip and the P-07 is more-or-less pushing directly back into your palm. Okay, I'm done shilling for the CZ P-07 and for the record, I'm by no means a big CZ guy at all.

I think the 75 is pretty good but the 07 is in another league entirely.

Not OP, but where? I got a 4566 TSW and it's fucking awesome. I can't find any police Trade-ins on any websites so presumably they're all long gone.

Even on Gunbroker they're not all that common and not cheap. I want another TSW but in 9mm. I haven't owned a standard 3rd gen but the Tactical model I have has fucking AWESOME slide fit, finish and trigger.

I love it. Quality is way up there and from what I've gathered, they were very expensive when new.

If you can find an S&W 5906 jump on it.
it is far better than the 2022.

have you ever shot a DA/SA before? If not, try one first. I thought I would love the Idea so I picked up a Sig SP 2340 (Predecessor to the 2022 but in .40). after 2 years of having it I found out 2 things.
I hate Sigs, not just based on my experience with the 2340, but with my buddies 228, and shooting the 250, 238)
And I hate the DA/SA, go DA or go SA.

I traded it for a S&W 3" Model 60 .357. Which is the handgun I absolutely love.

The P-07 really is this good. Go get one.
>>
>>29777916

You traded a 2022 for a damn Model 60? Jesus, nice trade dude. I'm the poster above you who wrote the novel comparing the SP2022 to the P-07 and I agree completely with you on all points.

I still think DA/SA is pretty stupid and the SP2022 made me give up on it until I got the P-07. And yeah, the 2022 also made me realize I REALLY hate Sigs. I got a P320 on a trade and it still had most of the awful things about the 2022.

The Polymer frames just feel like they're from the dollar store and the fucking bore is so high they shoot like shit compared to the competition. Some guns I get the appeal of but I just can't wrap my head around people who love Sigs and have tried different guns.

But I would like a Sig 239 to try out as a range toy. They look like a pretty good gun.
>>
>>29778106
the polymer frames do feel cheap. it did not take much to gouge up the grip on the 2340, and I really didn't abuse it. where as I have lobbed my g19 in my fields many times and it didn't do shit to the polymer.

Never got a chance to hold a p320, so I can not comment on it.
So far the only sig that actually fit correctly in my hands was their 1911, but thats because it's like every other 1911 when it comes to the grip. and their p230 actually felt nice in my hands.

As for the trade, I did also throw in a few hundred rounds and the holsters I Had along with a hundred bucks. Which is still a great trade, since I picked up the 2340, for about $350.

Oh another thing I learned with that gun, I also hate .40 S&W. But thats a completely different topic

I also learned that I hate .40, but that was with a Glock 35 which is like, in theory, one of the softest shooting .40s available.

I kinda wanted a Model 60 since I don't like large .357s but I ended up getting a 4.2" SP101 for pretty cheap. They're VERY similar but I think the SP101 should hold up better to a lot of Magnum loads.

Should compare the two if you ever get a chance if you really like the 60. Trigger is heavy as all fuck on the SP101 though.
>>
>>29778661
I have put a decent amount of stout .357's through mine. Like damn near max charge of h110 or 2400 with a 165 GCSWC pill. over the years of having my model 60. So far it's holding up well enough. No doubt the Ruger would take a very steady diet of those loads, better in the long run. Though, shooting these stout loads are not as unpleasant as some would think, even with it being a larger J-Frame.
The double action trigger is heavy, but not overly heavy. However it is very, very smooth. Very easy to score 4 out of 5 hits on a 9"x9" steel plate at 20 feet as fast as you can pull the trigger. The single action trigger is probably the best trigger I have ever shot.

If i do ever get the chance I will give the sp101 a try.

If you ever get a Model 60, go with the 3" barrel. Yeah holsters are very annoying to find for that barrel length, but you have an adjustable rear sight, and a barrel length that makes .357's worthwhile. Overall, it's roughly the same size as a glock 19 give or take a 1/4 inch here are there.
