DON'T SAY THAT YOU MONSTER

Don't give up anon. The poly protector and LCR are proof of polymer being viable for revolvers, we aren't limited to 1800 metallurgy or design, the 412 was at least prototypes, the meatball is retarded and people love it and the Medusa is still alive and being refined by the designer.

youre primarily looking at old guns and repos of those old guns. So depending on that they are either going to be relevantly cheap or very expensive. Nobody really makes them anymore so its usually the latter, but ive found old ivor jonhson and smith and Wesson top breaks for a few hundred. But ammunition is difficult to come buy. Makue sure you get the right ones, a lot of the older ones cant handle hotter loads so unless you reload you might have to get the bullets online or through a special order
>>
>>29770418
It's a shame they never got more popular, the new ones go for a thousand so it's definitely a bit of a turnoff for me

Every so often someone talks about making a Webley repro, but I haven't seen much lately. If you're getting an original (I through VI), don't be putting hot rounds through it.

Some of the WW2 Enfields in .38 S&W are pretty affordable, and they're remarkably tough.

>Production will be extremely limited to about 50 guns per year. Engraved versions and exotic grips will be the norm for these. Most will be handled on a custom order basis. The price point will land around 6,500 Pounds Sterling or about $10,000.

You can find plenty of old top breaks in .32 and .38 on gun broker for pretty cheap. Hell if you want to look a bit harder you can find some that can ship right to your door being that they are antiques. Can also load them safely and lightly with a slow smokeless like Blue Dot.
>>
>>29770418
.38 s&w PPU ammo is fairly inexpensive.

I absolutely love my Schofield. It's fun to shoot and I get compliments every time I take it to the range. I just want a halfway decent holster/gunbelt for it that won't break the bank, but I dont know where to look.
>>
>>29771490
Leather holsters are rather expensive though 80 bucks for something that will last a lifetime with proper oiling I don't see why not spend a little there.
>>
>>29771538
That's fine, I would pay that if I liked the way the holster looked. My issue is the holsters I find are in the $275-$350 range, which is far more than I'm willing to pay to satisfy a whim. It's not like I'm doing CAS or something like that.
>>
>>29771562
You could just get a plain holster and belt and buy some second hand leather working tools or send it out to someone in etsy (largely hipster bullshit but there are some neat and relatively cheap craftsmen there). What style are you looking for?
>>
>>29771586
1)It needs to fit the Schofield, which is obviously not shaped like other revolvers
2)It should have the little bullet holding loopy things on the belt, and possibly on the holster as well
3)It should look halfway decent

Thanks for the etsy suggestion. I forgot it existed after the panzer slippers.
>>
>>29771782
Forgot number 4)the holster should be reversed for a cavalry draw.
>>
>>29771782
>>29771795
Just was listing the cheapest I could find you could email companies about left handed models and just attaching those to your right side for cavalry draw.

Bullet loops, I think.
>>

I've heard belt loops, loops, and pockets. Could be a regional/national thing.

not children
>>
>>29771342
Or Tightwad. You can reload black powder cartridges almost 1:1. Works awesome in my .38-40 WCF and my .45-90.
>>
do you guys pronounce it Show-field or Sko-field? I've heard it both ways. I lean towards sko-field but pls educate
>>
>>29769194
>Top break
More like break in half. Shit is fragile.
>>
>>29777062
>>29777062
pls kiddo this design predated the swing out design and went with power up to the 44/40 range and other goodness such as 38/44target.

.455 webley are known to blow up in your face in the US because they got shaved/rebarreled in .45acp or .45lc/45gap thingies and thus became unreliable
exactly like those .38s&w(.379) guns retooled to fire .38sp (.357)

but of course the topbreakisfragile lore from the articles on the vaporware baikal mp412 rex you found on the internet after your last loli futa fur fap/fagttlefield4 session is true...
>>
If a company like s&w made a modern break action revolver that was semi modular with a variety of barrel lengths, in various calibers, with a section of rail they would have the market cornered. Why doesn't someone do that? I want to buy something like that.
>>
>>29776845
Huh, never heard of it. Seems pricy for the bang when smokeless and filler can do the same job with less powder.

How clean does it burn?
>>
>>29777350
At the price to tool up and work out every design hiccup it'll be too expensive for a novelty and not practical when almost every other system utilizes swing out and trains on it.
>>
>>29777282

38 SW has a bullet diameter of .360-.361

also, as someone who agrees with most of what you are saying, you type like a fag and your shits all retarded.
>>
>>29771490
is that in 44LC?

my gf inherited one from her dad, 5" barrel uberti schofield, but it's in 38sp.

pretty nice to shoot since there's very little recoil, which i imagine helps decrease wear and tear to which top-breaks are vulnerable vs the 44lc model.

nothin like breakin the top open and feelin the cylinder rod snap back though

I was under the impression the cavalry draw was crossdraw from a standard right-hand holster (butt forward). If you're referring to strong-side butt forward (lefty holster worn on right side) I can't imagine that being all that particularly safe with a DA pistol like a Schofield. Even if the DA is a gorillion pounds.
>>
>>29777350
Because the only 2 real markets that still exist for revolvers are pocket-sized carry guns and competition bullseye pistols. The former wouldn't have the frame strength for a top-break, and it would be utterly wasted on the latter.
>>
>>29783377

my favorite is the smith and wesson double action. Beautiful gun. Originals are old enough to be shipped through the mail. Chambered in 44 russian, which is still commercially produced and slightly more powerful than most 45 acp loads. uberti makes a reproduction for around $500

what do i need that is chambered in this caliber? there is a shit ton in the yard and they attract bobcats. i figure if i had something chambered to fire bunny it would be a perfect round that the bobcats wouldn't see or smell coming. there is no way they would think that a rabbit is charging them

>the cake is a lie
>>
>>29777282
The issue with Webleys wasn't the cutting of the cylinder- it's that the Webley was maxed out at about 12,000 psi. .45ACP is more like 21,000.

I've known a few people that owned them, and never had an issue shooting .45 acp through them, to be honest.
>>
>>29770817
Lol. Fuck them. I hope norico makes a copy & floods market with it, and fuck them in their saggy british ass.

I came.

>True to the originals, Uberti Top Break Revolvers come in 3 models, including the Russian Model with Cyrillic barrel stampings.

>Major George Schofield designed the Top Break as a cavalry pistol. Its efficient, break-open design could be operated with one hand. That made it easy to eject the spent cartridges and reload while on horseback.

>It was the Russian government that truly embraced the new side arm. The Czar ordered 41,000 Top Breaks. Those had a modified grip design, lanyard ring, and a distinctive trigger spur
