What does /k/ think of the FN Five-seven and of 5.7mm ammo in general?

I've heard some mixed things at my local gun club (one fudd who says it's fancy .22 ammo and he'll keep his .45 ACP thank-you-very-much, and another guy who says the Secret Service uses it so it must be the best).

Is it particularly good? Is it not really any better than other handguns and ammo types?
>>
>>29767329
If you work for the secret service sure. As a civvy it's a pointless overpriced pea shooter.
>>
If you like csgo and want it just buy it and stop making topics
>>
>>29767402
Shut up, nogunz.
>>
>>29767394
So the police/military issue ammo is pretty highspeed?
>>
>>29767441
It's all high speed. But unless you want to poke small holes in soft targets, it's pretty useless as a civ. You can theoretically gray market some of the "ap" ammo but it's damned expensive. You're just better off with a high cap 9mm.
>>
>>29767329
The ammo it shoots was designed for the P90, so I think the general consensus is that it's sort of neutered when coming from a shorter barrel.
>>
>>29767439
I am not noguns
>>
Having never actually used one,I think they're cool.

High capacity, high speed flat shooting ammo, light, low recoil.

Expensive and like stated your ammo choices are limited.
>>
>>29767394

Why would the secret service want a high speed pea shooter? Wouldnt they rather want more stopping power?
>>
>>29767509
It's a secret
>>
>>29767329
Gun that banned Barnes banded solids.
>>
Stupid unless you have the $4 a round ammunition and even then 9mm will do just as well if not better

Full auto P90 is the only good reason to use the round because 50 round magazines, good tumbling AP ammo, and 900 RPM

Other than that it's trash

Now stop making these fucking threads Marisa

Tripfag who did crossplay as Marisa Kirisame and just WOULD NOT SHUT THE FUCK UP ABOUT 5.7 firearms.
>>
>>29767329

The five seven and the p90 were designed to use AP rounds and now that you can't get a hold of AP rounds, you're neutering it.

>muh ammo capacity

I'd use a glock 21/17/19 with a 30 round magazine, plus it creates as much muzzle energy as a 9mm.

Tl;dr no AP ammunition makes the cartridge useless and it produces similar muzzle energy to a 9mm
>>
>>29767838
With AP rounds how is it?

I miss Marisa, and Duke (Think it was spelled differently then that, but its been a long long time)

I remember one summer the two of them almost killed /k/ with their shitposting.
>>
anyone who shits on the five-seven has never shot one
I had second thoughts about buying one until I took it to the range. It's fun as fuck to shoot, it's got the report and blast of an AR but just a little more recoil than a 22
>>
>>29768104
I think I left /k/ for three years when that happened.

>>29769115
I'm sure it's fun to shoot, it's just questionable as to its value as anything but a range toy.
>>

this
>>29767908
better. the biggest advantage of a 5.7 round is the trajectory, recoil, and accuracy.

$0.42/rd for 5.7x28
vs
$0.32/rd .22mag
$0.17/rd for 9mm
$0.075/rd for .22

There is the deal breaker for a lot of people

Rule of thumb for auto guns.

If you want accuracy, go for a .22, .22mag, or 5.7 in ascending cost

If you want stopping power, 9mm (10,.40,.45,etc...) in ascending cost, there is not much difference at the end of the day. the hole and penetration is about the same. Just whatever makes you happy there.

If you want volume, .22,.22mag,5.7, and finally 9. Keep in mind if you have state restrictions.

obvious considerations for OC/CC/Range apply.

Rent a 941 or FN FNS, made in 2015 or greater.

Jericho 941 finally had a reconfig to the body vs the slide, nice.
FN FNS is nice.

Steyr S/C/M/L models are awesome, too, depending on your size/conceal needs.

At least marisa would could into detail so you could draw actual conclusions as opposed to the the usual parroting.
>>
>>29770402
Yeah, but most of the time it was complete bullshit like the "67 wound vectors" crap.
>>
Five-Seven is a cool design. 30 rounds in a pistol is quite a feat, even though I have heard the polymer feels cheap. I've never fired or held one to be sure though.

5.7 can be good. 5.56 is fancy .22 ammo after all. The problem is the good ammo that can actually penetrate light body armor and such is illegal. The stuff you can buy is basically .22 magnum. Nothing to laugh at, but rimfire isn't as reliable.

Have enough disposable income? Go ahead and buy one.
Need it for defensive uses? There are better options.
Just want a 30 round pistol to plink with? Get a KelTec PMR30.

Like literally any of the 9mm/.40/.45 pistols in a subcompact frame.
>>
my rich faggot friend bought a 5.7 becuase he thought it was cool

thing was a complete piece of shit, expensive as fuck glorified .22 ammo, stovepiped shells literally almost every time he fired it

having a gun made of full plastic feels strange, it feels like a cheap piece of shit, although the design is cool, i think its like 2 or 3 parts max to the entire gun.
