meh, i'v shot a deer at point blank range with a .22 pistol and it wasn't all that loud. suppressed. sounded kind of like if someone dropped a rock on concrete, but still, no louder than say a balloon popping and if you use a singleshot pistol, it's even quieter. i could kill someone in an alleyway without raising suspicion or in an empty bathroom.

Tracks decrease ground pressure and are generally better off road. They are more labor intensive, require longer logistics trains, need specialized recovery vehicles, and tear up roads (yes, YOUR tank will get across the road but if the road gets torn up in theater the trucks coming later will have a shit time)
Wheels are less labor intensive to maintain and repair, require a shorter logistics train, a wheeled vehicle can be recovered by another truck towing it, and are less destructive and more efficient on roads. They are generally less effective offroad.
There are trade offs for each type. A smaller number of specialized "tip of the spear" tracked vehicles like tanks and Bradleys that can push into enemy territory regardless of conditions backed up by a larger number of wheeled vehicles carrying supplies and infantry is generally the most logistically supportable scenario.
