Whats up /k/

I bought my first AK today. I got a RAS47. I put 100 rounds through it after I got it home, cleaned it, and mobbed to the woods.

What should I do now? I want to stain the furniture dark green. Anyone have tips about how to do that?
>>
>>29764810
Trade it in for a WASR10 or sell it and save up for an Arsenal, or hold off and hope that century learns their lesson and fixes them. I had very high hopes for the RAS and C39 only to be shot down :(
>>
>>29764834
I researched it and it seemed like it was basically the same as a wasr only made in america. I saw a youtube where it held up pretty well after a 5k round torture test. I take really good care of my rifles so I figured it would be a good starter ak for the next few years til i get more money and stop being such a poorfag.
>>
>>29764810
/k/ likes to shit all over the ras47 for the cast trunnions and bolt carrier. I'll admit that the wasr is better, but you won't notice the difference until at least a few thousand rounds in, and I doubt you'll shoot that many. From my limited experience, it's a good, accurate rifle.

>I bought my first AK today
>I got a RAS47.
How does this tragedy keep repeating itself?
>>
>>29764998
Alot of people fell for it.
The Cabelas that opened up near me is selling RAS47s with 2 racks full of em when they first opened (20 aks)
Theres only half a rack left and its been a month. They sold those...things for a little over $700 a piece
>>
>>29764998
shut the fuck up you fucking cock goblin
>>
>>29764920
Are you joking? AKOU basically killed theirs in a 5k round torture test. The sights werent even usable anymore and the bolt and carrier had metal wearing down far beyond normal wear and tear. Century cut some serious corners on this rifle it seems. If you just have it as a range toy to shoot a few hundred rounds through each year, im sure itll be fine. But i wouldnt depend on it with my life if i were you, and there are better rifles for the same price range. The WASR seems to be the best bang for buck on the market right now.
>>
>>29765033
He might have seen the James Yeager test even though its pretty likely that hes a Century Shill
>>
>>29764998
Century somehow manages to fool people, over and over and over

I have no fucking clue why we all get tricked by "BUT WE DID IT RIGHT THIS TIME", but it fucking happens. Literally the only thing that saved me was that it wasn't an exact clone of the AK from CS:GO
>And then I went and fucking bought a PSAK build kit
Kill me
>>
>>29765050
I watched nutnfancy who said it was fine, and also saw some posts on reddit saying they were fixing issues from the c39.

Yea i go on reddit sorry im not a cave troll like the rest of you.
>>
>>29764998
I agree with you but Undertail and ARG has changed you.

You should be sorry, considering what you just bought

I am a result of anon, and anon alone.

>people apparently still willingly pay more for a RAS-47 instead of getting a WASR
>>
>>29765131
yea i fast forward through parts of it but the comments were all saying good things. Im going to get a go no go gauge after 1k rounds. Idk if I blow my face off ill let you guys know.
>>
>>29765071
I would take Nutnfancy with a grain of salt. Hes more for the casual gun owner who just wants a plinker. James Yeager has made so many enemies and has such a sketchy reputation and some sketchy associates that Id have no problem believing if he had some sort of agreement with century. I say this as someone who used to be a huge yeager fan and even (still) would defend his actions in that fateful video from the sandbox, but now i cant fucking stand the egomaniac. Hes reckless in both his actions and his words, and it seems like every other week theres some new scandal with him. Ive learned that usually when theres smoke theres fire.
>>
>>29765141
mine was $620 it says $625 on century while wasrs are listed as $650
>>
>>29764810

Sell it and buy a WASR
>>
>>29765182
eh I also wouldn't put it past nutnfancy to take money either he is pretty full of himself

So you could have gotten a vastly superior AK for only $25 more...
>>
>>29764810
Replace that shitty wood, it'll start breaking within a few thousand rounds. The front and rear sight of the rifle are also shit too.
>>
>>29765183
Damn. For that kind of money you may as well get an M92. 400 bucks + 200 for a stamp or 100 for a brace and youve got a solid well made 7.62 not real fuckin nato slav blaster. They are 100% factory since they are pistols rather than frankenguns. You will run into the issue of 922r compliance though if you do SBR it...but youll have a real solid toy. I love my M85NP SBR.
>>
>>29765182
>>29765196
You guys are making me understand my fuckup but ill put much less than 5k through it and buy a nicer ak when im out of school and have a real job.

Ill do my best not to blow my face off.
>>
>>29765208
yea i saw that vid. ill get optics in a few paychecks. i kinda wanna make my own buttstock for it anyways
>>
>>29765230
>I won't be putting that many rounds through it anon!

So why even bother getting a real ak if it's not going to be used?
>>
>>29765230
OP you did fine, the rifle will hold up just fine. Most of these idiots only regurgitate what they see on YouTube. The gun will suffice for casual shooting and the occasional tyrant.

Should have got a WASR instead. I think they're actually cheaper than the RAS.
>>
>>29765264
>the rifle will hold up just fine
>lugs start mushrooming after only 300 rounds
Post-purchase rationalization is a hell of a thing.
>>
>>29765230
Whats century's warranty like? Supposedly the fit and finish and barrels are fantasssstic on the RAS so maybe in a year or so theyll have kinks worked out on new productions and if yours starts showing any signs of issues you can just send it in for replacement or corrections? Im not trying to troll you or make you feel like shit OP I promise.

Already own an converted Saiga. Looking for second ak. How is the draco? Specifically looking for the version with the underfolder trunnion. Afaik, all century does is put their stamp on them. Opinions?
>>
>>29765230
There is a silver lining, like >>29765303 said, the barrels are excellent and the rifle used in the AKOU test's accuracy held up very well... despite the front AND rear sights breaking.

Can't wait for my wasr to arrive from bud's.

Sucks that it shares the furniture from the RAS now. Apparently century used to import the wood separately, but now they are making their own out of some kind of shitty wood and sticking it on the RAS and WASR.
>>
>>29764810
Just shoot the fuck out of it in the warranty period until it grenades or proves itself reliable. If it shits the bed get your money back from Century and get a WASR or NPAP.

The barrels are not excellent, they shoot straight but are softer than fuck. Some guy did a hardness test on common AK barrels and the Century barrels were substantially softer than the rest.

Some anon was in the AK general thread a few days back was telling me that I was stupid putting the Magpul Zhukov handguard on my WASR while also telling another anon to attempt to refinish his WASR's fucking balsa wood bullshit furniture. The shit is awful. I can understand purists not liking the magpul ak stuff but the wasr wood belongs in the trash.
>>
>>29766028

Yeah i'm not even gonna bother trying to refinish that bullshit.

Gonna try to find some nice surplus wood or just buy a full set of new brown laminate from that one company for $120.
>>
>>29765949
Gunsngear, mac, and akou are quality. Some people say mac is a shill for some companies, i dont think so necessarily. Man just likes what he likes
>>
>>29765028
People think "American made" and then they assume that it must be badass.

Usually, they're right when it comes to firearms not classified as AK's.

>>29765101
Waffen Werks was the shit. WAS... Then the great retardation happened and they tried to increase production while making their own receivers.

QC took a shit, they got backed up on warranty work and their reputation suffered as a result. It's a damn shame too. They were a very promising company at one point.
>>
>>29766095
Timbersmith? Someone said their wood is like a slight step up from Century wood in quality, but damn that black wood looks so good. I want to get another WASR just to put that stuff on.
>>
>>29766095
If it's Timbersmith that shit is garbage. Like presswood shelf tier shit.
And softer than the garbage wood Century uses now.
Definately not worth the high price they want for that shit.
>Plus it's made by Tapco.

Just stick to combloc furniture, or if you like spending money, Ironwood Designs.

I actually like the magpul stuff on the cheaper AKs. Wood furniture looks nice but it's more comfortable for me to shot with the zhukov guard and m4 stock. After I picked one up I liked the way the stuff felt actually.

Ayy I went to the grand opening I was disappointed. I really like the old browning A5's they have there though.
