Only if you hold it incorrectly. I've heard that the mass of a long-barreled w/muzzle ports S&W 500 makes the recoils less extreme than you'd think.

With a revolver, where you lose gas in the gap between the cylinder and the forcing cone, you will begin to see a drop off in velocity with comically long barrels.

one time whole traveling through a more urban part of my city, I saw a big group of people on the sidewalk watching some cops and EMTs poking around.
a couple of dindus got into a fight, pulled their guns, shot and missed each other and ran away. a saw a 6 inch blued revolver on the ground that one of them dropped. (looked like a Taurus but it was far away). That's it, usually its some shitty pocket gun like a jimenez or raven arms. I even heard the cops talking about the "hand cannon" on the ground. Ive seen a few urban youths with guns like that, but its mainly for show and bragging rights. if they actually intend to sue it its a throw away gun
