Because I'm poor and won't be able to for awhile..
>>
>>29755105
They're quite a bit cheaper now since classic firearms ordered a lot, I ordered one just because the last time I saw one available to me was for like 650 and it was in kentucky or somewhere where the seller wouldn't ship.
>>
>>29755120
Hell, I get some spending money in June and I'll have to decide between a new computer, or one of these rifles.

All I own is Mosins though. I really want one with finn wood.
>>
>>29755126
Since they're not displaying how many they actually have in stock, I have no idea how many they actually have left. Although the hand selected option is no longer available so I'm guessing they're going to run out soon. On the side note has anyone ordered from classic before? I had them ship to a local FFL that I know of, so I'm guessing that classic will sort out the details with them or whatever. Oddly enough the website didn't ask me to scan in my ID or anything, I was expecting it to ask of that, but I've never ordered online before.
>>
>>29755063
Because they're charging 400 for a rifle that was only cool because it was cheap and the ammo was cheap. Now neither fact is true. Yes it's still cheaper than 3006 but realistically the nugget as a cost effective rifle had its day and that day has past.

I didn't have a single problem. I called my FFL that was already in the system to let them know about it though.

M39's aren't M91/30's. They've already been around that price range at least for the past five years so its actually really nice to see them not for an inflated price.
>>29755174
Very nice, how do you like it?
>>29755179
I guess I should probably call my FFL in as well in that case. Do you think that they'd have any issues with a family member picking up the rifle say if I weren't present or would the FFL be fine holding onto it for an extra week or so? I'm coming home on leave in about 20 days so really I should be on time.
>>
>>29755189
I'm not entirely sure, but I think a parent might be able to get it for you.
>>
>>29755189
If not I'm sure they don't mind holding onto it for an extra week or so. I've been a shopper from this place for about a year so it probably wouldn't be too unreasonable to ask for either way.

My Type 53 is much better than my 1937 91/30. The wood may be dented and beat to hell, but the bore is a mirror and the bluing is probably 95%. But more importantly I swear the Type 53 is a 2 MOA rifle with a POI about a 6" high at 100 yards

People's Prentice when buying random picks will vary, that's how it is with any store.

The thing with classic, and this specific lot from pat burns though, is that they don't really bother to sort the shittier condition guns properly, meaning that some of the super shit ones are being sold as decent ones. Pat burns, while typically priced a little higher, at least sorted and listed the gun individually, so people knew what they were getting.

Classic customer service has actually been pretty great to me personally, but everything I bought from them was sorted from the importer. They didn't have a say in what is in what condition.

It's a shame that this went to classic instead of AIM or Simpson. I'm happy i got mine from Pat years ago.

Also, I could be mistaken, but you could build skybriges around the world with all the MNs in circulation, how many Krags were even made vs how many circulate?
Also:
>The 7.62×54mmR is still in use by the Russian military in the Dragunov and other sniper rifles, as well as some modern general-purpose machine guns like the PKM.
If things ever get better with the US & Russia the ammo will flow.
>>
>>29758567
I am mostly shitposting, but keep in mind that in the 1920's and 30's 7.62x54r was produced commercially in the United States for Remington and Westinghouse contract Mosins (much better made than most Soviet rifles) and for the few Russian contract 1895s stranded in the US.

As these rifles fell out of use due to conversions, attrition, ect., the demand for the ammo fell and eventually production ceased, despite thousands in circulation and the cartridge being used outside of the Soviet Union.

Honestly, it will be more like 50 years than 10. Probably be like buying 8mm today.

I got mine back in December. It's an unissued 1970 m39. Does unissued also mean unfired? This is the only gun I've ever bought purely for its value as a collectible, and I'm afraid to shoot even a single round through it. The bore looks pristine, and if it is indeed unfired, I don't want to be the faggot who puts the first round through it and ruins that. I know it won't hurt anything, but I want to preserve its status as unfired if that's the case.
>>
>>29760662
It shouldn't really loose any value if you shoot it and take care of it. If it wasn't issued then yeah it wasn't issued to an individual soldier, but was likely in some armory, and there could be people training with them. I don't really now how it goes in the manufacturing for rifles in finland as far as factory test firing but thats a thing too. Maybe take a picture of the top of your receiver and send it.

Everybody and their mother has an m/39. Owning one isn't cool anymore; it's mainstream.

>>29756011
I bought a hand-select Yugo M24/47 from Classic summer of 2012. They sent me a rifle with a crooked barrel; the barrel had been cross-threaded into the receiver when it was re-built 60 years ago in Serbia. I tried to exchange it with them, and Classic claimed they never received it, despite my having Ben Keziah's signature saying it was. After calling regularly and waiting 2 months for them to send me a replacement rifle, I finally had to demand a refund. Hilariously, 4 months later Mr. Keziah himself called me on the phone to ask whether I had ever sent the rifle back or not.

That's why I won't ever do business with Classic again.

>>
>>29762343
Well they used to be harder to find than they are now with most of the 1337 collectors buying them off some old lady. Now that Classic made them available to the masses they are much more common and ruined their secret club since not everyone knew about Burns.

My M39 firing pin is out of spec out of the box.
Here it is screwed all the way in. Swapping bolt heads does nothing. Swapping the cocking knob fixes the issue. Headspace is fine. Should I be ok shooting it with excess firing pin protrusion?

I suppose I can see that, but it wasn't like they were hard to acquire before either. They were all over the fucking place on the secondary market and not very expensive. The regular examples going from common to super common doesn't really have that much of an effect on more advanced Finnish rifle collectors. Maybe it was just the average collectors that thought that having an M39 period was somehow special (it isn't) that were bothered by it. I doubt most "collectors" like that know how to discern a wartime example from a post-war refurb or a post-war build.

If it isn't far off, it may be fine. Try a few test shots and look at the primers of the spent casings. Changing the cocking knob may fuck up the trigger pull.

Still finding it for this here, even cheaper occasionally. Place here has pallet after pallet of spam cans. Not saying that's cheap WRT the past, but it works for me currently.

I got it and it was the rustiest milsurp I had ever seen. I honestly thought about whining. I'm glad I didn't. The barrel and bore were fine and the surface rust on all the fixtures came off in less than ten minutes with some 0000 steel wool and 3 in 1 Oil.
Finnish Nagant is best Nagant, they really upgraded a lot of key components.

The part of the rear sight base that the slider for the ladder rides on. The ladder itself should also be mostly in-the-white except for the numbers and notches and a few other spots.

They sometimes mark it down to $99, like on Black Friday.

I got my '44 sako from classic last year, can't say I was impressed with the wood grain in comparison to some of the crazy shit that others got. At least the stocks not cracked though, so I guess I'm lucky there. Disregarding that and some bluing wear it's actually a solid rifle, and extremely accurate despite my shit aim.

7/10 would hesitantly roll the dice again and buy another if I had the shekels
>>
>>29763357
The grain still looks pretty good, I'm not expecting for anything amazing but it would be awesome if I got one like pic related.

When I got my M91/30 3 years ago from them I didn't select the hand pick or anything special and it has a fairly attractive grain.

People actually fall for the hand picked meme. You're just wasting your money in that.

Classic fucking sucks. I buy so much shit but will never do business with those greedy fucks again. I have a lot of money to spend and they will never get any of it.

>>
>>29763937

In their case Hand picked means someone picks a mosin at random out of a crate by hand.
>>
>>29763937
I'm really sad Classic bought all these because I'll never buy from them again. They fucking blow at packaging, I really enjoy getting a cracked PU stock. Thanks cunts, those are bedded for the rifle.
>>
>>29764024
Dang, I had no idea they were that bad. I guess I got lucky with my 91/30 from them. Perhaps you might be able to snag one second hand from them one day, or a local store bought a crate or two of them.
>>
>>29755063
Because I already bought 2 and am tired of not being able to see, pick, and choose the rifle I get. Their prices are competitive but I have enough cash to buy a more expensive, good condition one.
>>
I'm perfectly happy with my 1943 Izhevsk M91/30.

Just need to polish the chamber so the bolt doesn't stick after firing. Then glass bed and cork it.
>>
Are Classic's Yugo SKS's any good? Considering one as a first rifle.
>>
>>29763166
I don't even know the difference. Finnish guns aren't my specialty.
>>
>>29764169
dunno

I got mine from Samco before they went under. It was in great condition. The wood only showed light use. When it warned of cracked stocks.
>>
>>29757480
>It's a shame that this went to classic instead of AIM or Simpson. I'm happy i got mine from Pat years ago.

completely agree

>>29764176
All I can tell is that the M28's don't have a pistol grip.

>>
This is my first and will probably be my only mosin. Is it normal for the bolt handle to not be 100% locked in place when I close the bolt? No other bolt action that I've tried has had this issue, so I'm very reluctant to fire the rifle. The bolt itself appears to lock, but it seems as though a little bump could unlock it. I suspect I need to be more thorough removing cosmoline from the chamber.

>>
I'm tempted, but after fees and all it's like 500 dollars.

I dont feel its right to pay more than 200 for a mosin. I paid 140 for my Chink one, and it's already more than enough rifle for the price. Should i get a russian while i can for sub 200? I already have two other 30-06 guns that are good shooters.

But these are some nice looking mosins at a fair price. Too bad x54r is dried, but the commercial ammo is still a fair price
>>
>>29764158
You have literally the worst made mosin in history.

Try a finn and you'll hate yours. Even a prewar russ is a major upgrade from that thing.
>>
I've considered it but I've heard so many horror stories about Classic that I figure I'm better off waiting to find something locally.

Angle of bolt handle
>>
Because I don't trust Classic. I'll pay for a hand select and get a hot garbage cracked stock rifle with pitting all over that they normally sell for discounts.
>>
>>29768942
All nuggets with straight handles will be angled up a little bit; it's not designed to be perfectly horizontal. If you look at the Berdan II you'll see it used to be even more extreme on Russian rifles. Also, the bolt head is not joined directly to the bolt handle, so the bolt head may be locked but the handle can still have a little wiggle.

CAN a little bump on the underside of the handle actually unlock it?
>>
>>29764561
By the way m39 is the only one with a pistol grip.
>>
>>29769027
No, the cocking handle just moves slightly.
