I'd say /k/ is one of the more mature and with-it boards on this site. We have several online stores owned by /k/ommandos set up to cater to our need for milsurp and patches, regional weekend-long meet up/campouts on /k/ommando owned land, a mature user base (until summer rolls around), a quasi religion in /k/ubism, many indigenous memes, a board-conceived and developed video game: Evil Death Nightmare, several collective gunsmithing projects like reverse engineering the AS VAL and all of Warfairy's amazing work. In third place after /lgbt/ and /mlp/ I'd say we have the highest concentration of lgbtqai+bbqroflmaoborkborkbork and we're pretty inclusive since we believe that the glory of the second amendment applies equally to all. /k/ isn't an American-only board, though. There's plenty of posters who are international gun owners and even noguns who just like tanks or planes, too. In the board-tan narrative of 4chan, we're married to /an/ and /out/ is our daughter, which I think is just adorable. If I can think of anything else, I'll post more, and I hope this helped.

The first purpose is to monitor all of the fringe gun owners in order to assess whether they are a threat or not. This can most often be seen in threads where op clearly is asking about something illegal, like how to make bombs.
The second reason is autism research. Stick around and you will learn that all of /k/ is extremely autistic and will argue over the stupidest shit. This can mainly be seen when op makes a thread comparing and contrasting 2 or more things, such as 9mm vs. .45 acp.

With the exception of maybe /out/, /diy/, and some other less traffic heavy boards, board culture is often reduced to forcing repetitive memes for the sake of creating some trend so you can feel like you "contributed" something.
Seriously, /vg/ is probably the worst. I browse Dota 2 generals to keep up to date with the game, and without fail there is at least 10 different people spamming the same forced shit in every single thread. It's cancer.
