The military does not have any magical record keeping system that can reach down to pediatric centers and learn anything they can about you.

They will only know what you tell them and what you display to them.

Show your best, tell them nothing.
>>
How hard is it switching from reserves to active duty in the Navy nowadays? The only Intelligence contract I was able to get easily was for the reserves.

>>
>>29746657
We're you diagnosed? Did you take medication? Will you be trying to get an mos with a security clearance? Even if the answer to all these is yes, there's little chance the military will check up on your history. The only times I've heard of people getting caught is when they out themselves by acting up during basic.

If you know who McVeigh is you may be too old to join, bro.
>>
>>29746762

FYI: you have to report treatment within the last seven years on the sf86. Signing it gives the guvment permission to pull your records.

As I said in the last thread - if you're a kid who has no idea what you're talking or if you're in a retard mos and have never had a clearance above confidential, then please stop posting itt. You're not helping anybody.
>>
>>29746929
Did I ever say they don't have permission? They simply don't have the time to do it for every case. They're more concerned with your loyalty to the US, police record, finishing situation and all that.
>>
>>29747013

Pulling your medical record is mandatory, you're informed of this at meps. It happens again after your sf is processed.

Please stop shitposting.

There are no infantry contracts currently available in the army.
I have called about thirty recruitment offices across four states. I'm not sure why I did that, as they all pull from the same system.
I had no idea it would be this difficult to snag an 11x contract.
>>
>>29748771
11x option 40 and 18x were available monday in north carolina
>>
>>29748812
For the active army?
I saw 60 11x slots last week, then they slowly dwindled down. Nothing left.
>>
>>29748823
yes, active
>>
Don't worry ypou little primordial oozeballs

Infantry opens up most especially in the spring and fall. Go to your recruiting office daily to check in order to secure a slot.

I will teach you the ways of an infanryman in OSUT.

Oh and I can tell you how you'll know if you are 11B or 11C early.
>>
>>29748896
It's summertime, and my moral waiver will expire. Gotta get dat contract.

I was fixated on National Guard or Air Guard until I learned the reserves has the same scheduled 1 weekend a month and 2 weeks a year. Now I'm contemplating all branches (except muhreens)

Any experience with Navy/AF/Army reserves? Can you into reserves with a POGish job?

If you have any hesitation/fear of joining as inf, should you just not? I feel like if you want to be inf you have to want it with everything you have, as in drive over to the recruiters office first thing in the morning with no hesitation/regrets.

Or is that unrealistic, and it's more of a "well you signed up for it now you're stuck, so you'll get used to it and be fine" kind of deal?
>>
>>29749190
You got to fucking want it or you will puss out either at OSUT, in your unit, or get kicked out for being a little bitch.

I do not use any of those words lightly. That is literally what is happening to my unit 4 goddamn weeks before we deploy to Afghanistan.

>>29749121
Just keep checking as much as possible. Drive the recruiters nuts with you popping your head in to check for 11x. The only proven way. I shit you not. They will give it good and hard when it opens up. It gets you off their back and makes you a happy little sweet primordial ooze.

Teach me the way, I fear 11C my great predecessor
>>
>>29749350
Listen my sweet little thing

There is no holding the 11C back. However, when you arrive to 30th AG at Henning, the in processing station, ask the people in your company whether they're national guard or active duty. If they are active duty, ignore them...for now. If they are national guard, ask what their MOS is. Oif they say 11B, congrats! Welcome, we have been expectimng you. If they say 11C...my boy, you are not one of us.

National guard decides the fate at in processing. All 11C national guard guys get put in the same companies and any active duty guys who go with them are unfortunately 11C. Same for 11B minus the unfortunate part.

Oi was the Delta dragons at in processing. We had a Drill Sgt we called Mama Dragon. She was a mean sexy bitch and we made her cry a lot.

Also any soldiers who have the last names from basically A-E are together, F-K are together, L through R, and R through Z are all in the same platoon. Bwefriend those with close last names, and the closer to the same last name the closer they are to being bunkmates.

It is pretty shitty of you to encourage kids to lie. My advice is to just disclose and wait the two weeks for your waiver. If you have a serious medical condition that is a dq no matter what then I wouldn't advise joining, unless you actually want to be one of those retards who dies in boot camp.
>>
>>29750227
Secrets are easy as fuck to get. Every 11B/C I know has one, you need one to get in a Stryker
>>
>>29750189
You can look at the job list like fucking nothing. Literally just a few clicks and all open slots pop up. No canceling BS.

A GT101 is fucking stupid easy. All my line scores are in the 110's, my GT being 118 and I guessed hardcore on the math because of about 15 concussions in highschool destroyed my brain.

POG jobs are always open and they always look better and better but in the end they kinda suck horse cocks as far as doing army stuff goes. My new LT who went green to gold went from a geospacial intel analyst to an infantry 1St LT. He's never slept in the field once in 7 years and he kept asking why a 240 was malfunctioning when the gun and its team was caked in clay mud and cow piss/shit.

Fuck no, I was an asshole as a kid. In fact the only thing that kept me from dropping out of high school and going to Job Corps was that I wanted to wrestle. So I got my grades up enough to wrestle varsity in 9th grade and kept them up to stay eligible.

I was identified as "Gifted" when I was in elementary and went to a separate program once a week at another school that was better funded for years, but I just didn't like school. So I got in trouble a lot, failed twice (8th grade once, 9th grade once), skipped school etc.

>what job did you go for?

I originally went to MEPS with a 35L (Counter Intelligence Agent, used to be 97B IIRC) contract, but I enlisted in 2006 and it was in the process of shifting from an initial entry MOS to prior enlisted only. So I ended up as a 35F (All Source Analyst, used to be 96B, also used to be called "Tactical Analyst" or something similar).

Now I'm a junior in college with a cumulative 3.5+ GPA.

35F is a great MOS, and will give you an insiders view into the intelligence process. It's really what people think of when they hear or talk about "intelligence analysts".

The single source guys are still analysts, but they (35G, 35N/S etc.) are really closer to the Processing step of the Intelligence Cycle. The collectors (35M, 35L to an extent) also have somewhat of an analytical part of their jobs, and I've worked with Limas who were tasked as analysts for most of the deployment.

But all source analysts are the guys who fuse all of the pieces together to create a finished intelligence product and disseminate it, using reporting from single source analysts and collectors, OSINT, historical + subject matter knowledge, and analytical tools like Analysis of Competing Hypotheses, quantitative analysis, association matrices, lynch pin analysis etc.

Having done it both in the real world (deployed working in the Joint Theater 2 shop, and also in the ARCENT G2 shop working regional long term topics) and seen the academic side, there are a lot of commonalities.

I'm seeing all these posts about how the practice ASVAB is harder than the real thing. When I took it I got an equal score to a 90 on the asvab, but when I took the real thing at MEPs I scored a 55. It confused the fuck out of me, I'm not clinically retarded, I just suck at taking tests and advanced science and math is a huge weakness for me. It was honestly kinda embarrrassing to tell my recruiter my score and hearing everybody else get scores in the 70s and 80s and shit. I just don't want my average score to limit my opportunities in the future.

Intel MOS can do all kinds of high speed stuff.

The thing is that those slots are limited and you're going to be competing to get them.

And even then there's no guarantee that you'll have the opportunity to try for them because your unit might suck dick, or any other variable that can affect what you get to do while you're in. There are things you can control that will help, like PT and qual range (and hopefully actually being competent at your job), but for the most part your experience in the military is a lottery.

I can tell you right now, if you can't get into the military you're not going to have an easy time getting hired into the civilian IC unless you have a super competitive resume and education.

The military is by far the largest IC "agency" and there are far more intel people in the military than on the civilian side.

>if you can't get into the military you're not going to have an easy time getting hired into the civilian IC unless you have a super competitive resume and education.

I want to clarify this:

I'm not saying you have to have military experience to get into the civilian side of the IC. Civilian agencies hire kids straight out of college, or older people with life experience all the time.

It's just that the military is relatively much easier to get into, and if you have a problem with that you'll likely have much more of a problem getting into the IC.

Talking to Army recruiter Monday to start paperwork for 68W contract.

I'm 22.

Graduated HS in 2011. In 2010 I DEP'd for the Marines, the weekend before Thanksgiving of 2010 I hurt my shoulder during a DEP PT. Was slated to ship August of '11. In June of '11 I backed out because the Orthopedist insisted I was a surgery candidate for "tendonitis with complications from hypermobility". I dropped from DEP. I later found out that the Orthopedist was a commie cunt, who was friends with my mother, who was very anti-me-going-military, and so he lied until I dropped. I was magically "healed" once I had dropped.

In 2013 I talked to Marines again, but injured my knee. Did not visit doctor, accidentally disclosed to recruiter. He stopped my paperwork and told me to chill the fuck out and get it sorted before starting anything.

Did some college, wasn't really for me (Just nothing I wanted to do, really). Ended up getting my EMT cert this fall, really like it, really like the idea of being a medic, think Army is gonna be for me.

Any suggestions/tips/advice on this path?
>>
>>29751268
You want to start a career? Pick something that applies to the civilian word ei: intel, medical, civil engineer, air traffic controller (4 years in, get out, make $80k), aircraft maintainer partly qual's you to work on civilian aircraft but need to take a class for full cert.

You want to fuck off, travel the world and have fun, then get out and go to school for something else? Enlisted aircrew like refueller, flight engineer, loadmaster. I know one, he says he watches people load the plane then sleeps in a hammock during the flight. Also friends with serval other aircrew guys, its definitely the shit.

Otherwise you could get a job that will neither prepare you for civilian life or be enjoyable. These include services, security forces, finance, or other bs office job.

Maybe you want to be a soldier but not be treated like a pile of shit everyday? Believe it or not the air force actually combat positions like combat controller, TAC-P (guy on ground who calls in airstrikes), or Pararescue. These are special forces so be warned its difficult training.
>>
>he didnt take the DLAB

>>
>>29752211
68W will do nothing for you as a civilian and its peace time so you"ll basically just sit in sickcall looking at dudes blisters.

if you don"t want to do college pick an MOS that will get you a civilian job when you ETS.

68W fucks you in the ass more than most Army jobs man, you get as much as much responsibility a paramedic or trauma nurse but get out with a shitty emt-b cert.
>>
>>29752532
Already have the EMT-B card, will specialize as 68W after doing time on Line. Looking at Flight Medic, possibly SOF Medics as options. Both I would come out with EMT-P.

Additionally considering switching to MEDCOM after time on Line and focusing on school, doing the PA program.

Lol look at this faggot, thinking he gets to plan out his enlistment like he plans out his skill trees for his "toons" on his Em Em Ohs.

Fucking Christ homie.

Here's a real pro tip from someone who was already enlisted and ETS'd: Do not depend on getting to do anything or go anywhere that is not explicitly laid out in your enlistment contract. Because you're gambling with anything after that.
>>
>>29752994
A different anon here: If you do MI and get out, you need at least a 2 year degree to get on with any company as a contractor. And if you're not willing to go to Trashcanistan, don't expect to hit even close to six figures.

And any federal non contractor job requires minimum four year degree just to get them to look at your resume unless you're a 20+ year SOF/SF veteran applying to CIA as a para military officer.

Is there any reason not to sign up for the initial 6 year term in the USAF? It seems you have every reason for a six year over a four. If you can do a four year stretch then a six year is just
as easy. You come out of BMT A1C right? '

What does that mean in a practical sense, coming out of BMT a rank above others? Will it mean less of the shit jobs, more seniority amongst yourselves?
>>
>>29753421

>And any federal non contractor job requires minimum four year degree just to get them to look at your resume

Pretty much the truth... I work for materiel command, they don't want retards who just sat around for ~4 years playing video games and jacking off in the military.

It is funny how even now everyone thinks they're going to walk into an 80k dod job after they get out. It wasn't even true eight years ago when I eas'ed.
>>
>>29753452
Wait, Tech School, not BMT.
>>
>>29753453
>It is funny how even now everyone thinks they're going to walk into an 80k dod job after they get out.

It's because recruiters who never had those MOS hear about how the TS/SCI is going to set you up for life. And it's bolstered by the guys who got out before ~2010 when the rules for intel contractors changed and DoD started requiring Associate's Degrees and got decent gigs at CENTCOM as contract analysts.

So they tell all these kids this line of bullshit. I heard it too, from every single recruiter at the recruiting station and every social event that I went to.

It doesn't help that people think of the military as a job training program for kids who don't know what they want to do with their lives. In some ways it can be, I found out I actually wanted to continue working in the IC and it gave some "direction, but in the vast majority of ways it isn't. The military doesn't exist to train you for a job other than what you will be doing in the military, and the goal isn't to train you or give you job skills other than the specific MOS tasks you need to perform.
>>
>>29753523

The only people I know who went straight to work for the dod with no degree were ballistics radar, my mos, supporting the cax training in Yuma. They also got out in 07; I remember back then KBR was still paying people 100k to drive forklifts in Afghanistan, a lot has changed since then.

Keep your current job and when a position open in the deparment apply, theyre more likely to hire from the auxiliary officers they know, trust and have worked with, then some guy who has military experience.

I literally made this transition last year and am now making 85k~ as a DOD civilian.

My secret? College courses for literally my entire 6 year enlistment (3 degrees), being shit hot at a highly technical job, and networking my balls off.

It can be done. It can't be done if you're a lazy fuck.

<tfw should've joined the military before going to college.

I'm a lazy ass and have a 2.6 GPA because I sleep through class, only get up when I have work. If I'd have joined the military, maybe I'd have gotten that taken out of me.

And now my GPA is too shit to become an officer, so now I'll never join.

Hey, /meg/, will I get screwed if I do a three year stint in the military, then go to college, then go back into the military as an officer? I scored around 85 on my ASVAB, and I'm not totally physically inept. The idea seems a bit too good to be true, but I'm alright if I end up in some ass-end location while I'm a grunt. How could I get fucked over during this process?
>>
>>29755450
Yeah you should have. You could have done a quick 4 and out and had that discipline and mgib or post 911 bill, whichever you chose for basically free college.
>>

Your situation is preferable.

Why only 3 years? You won't get your college paid for.
>>
>>29755785
Seriously? Even with benefits and stuff? How long would I have to stay in the airforce? I mean, time isn't really an issue for me, I just want to get a foot into the military and get help paying for college before I go in full time.
>>
>>29755450

I graduated with a 2.8 from a CS program and I got selected on this last air force officer board, just waiting for an ots date now.

So I'm guessing you haven't actually tried to join. Disclaimer: I have six years of work experience in my industry.

You're eligible for the GI Bill after three years, tard.

God, you kids really need to stop shitposting.

Are you getting a sweet bonus if you do 6 instead of 4?

That's usually the only reason to commit yourself longer than necessary.
>>
>>29757189
If I sign up six years I get Airman 1st Class 20 weeks after BMT instead of waiting longer.

Go out the house and run around until tired.

Do pushups in as many sets as you need to hit 200, same with situps, measure out a distance on Google maps to run around 1.5-2 miles, get a pull up bar and do whatever variations you can do until you can't. Hit some sprints if you want but don't over do it or you'll fuck your shit up.

Can someone tell me about the army chemical corps? I've heard mixed about it. It's something interesting to me but I don't want to be stuck in a supply room passing out gas masks to retards

There's a reason the job is ALWAYS available.

Is 12b, option 4 a good idea? I'll have a bachelor degree by the time I enlist, so I'd be able to enlist at E-4 too

There can't possibly be a dorkier job in the Army,
>>
>>29758954
Yes he's correct. You will need LORs, plus the asvab, sift, pt test and a board of field grade officers recommendation prior to the actual HRC board. Took me about 7 months.

anyone here have any experience with 35N or 35P?
