Hello again /k/ haven't been here in quite a few months but I have a dilemma that I'm hoping one or some of you, could give me a yea or nay on.
The coin flip is about the "Bersa Thunder Pro Ultra Compact" chambered in .40
Let me start by saying I've never considered getting a .40 prior to fondling this particular one in my hands. I've shot one before in .45 thanks to a cool stranger on the range. I wasn't crazy about it or how I shot with it. However I liked it enough I'm considering getting it's counterpart. Mainly because I spotted a used one for 300 and some change after tax. Is it worth it?
TL;DR
Reliability, pros/cons, are they in any way shape or form similar to a Hi-Point? These are my questions to you, thanks!
I have a Bersa thunder 9. Is very reliable, it eats ammo that even my glock 17 would refuse.
Cons: the magazines are not very rugged, as in, if you drop them too much, they will break.

I bought a used stainless Bersa Firestorm mini 40, which is the predecessor to the Thunder Compact. I've had it for 1.5 years.
Pros:
>nice ergos & trigger
>Glock-ish Browning action in the slide mated to Beretta style DA/SA lower
>faster disassembly than Beretta
>ambi controls for everything
>light-ish alloy frame
>comfy CC
>looks a bit like the Zenith from Deus Ex
Cons:

>mags are pricey
>kicks a bit
>hates steel case
>has trouble with brass hollow points
>frame cracked in a non-load bearing area (fairing by right slide release)

I keep it in the bathroom as a toilet gun because of the stainless finish. Not my first CC choice, though.

My dad bought a Bersa and that ho bricked itself on the first box of ammo and their warranty procedure was such a pain in the ass that he didn't bother to get it fixed.
.40 in general is just dumb. It performs similarly to 9mm but is more expensive and has a greater case diameter which generally means a slightly smaller mag capacity. The only thing .40 is good for is conversion kits so you can use 9mm most of the time and switch to .40 when another panic hits and all the 9mm is gone.
Look at Canik or Walther's PPX if you're looking for a decent inexpensive gun.
