/k/, you have been given a crude Oil tanker(any size) with the purpose of arming it and armoring into a makeshift warship. What do you use to armor it? what do you arm it with? What will you use it for? You can modify the structure of it any way you see fit.

A bomb. Masquerade it as a relief aid ship/transport/whatthefuckever. Fill it with the explodey bits of your choosing. Drive it to the blockade or port of highest significance. Boom.

Arsenal ship. Satlinks, radars, and fucktons of VLS. Save a little bit of deck space to operate rotary-wing ASW drones.
Anything above the surface, sea, land, or air, gets missile spam. Anything below the surface gets torpedoes. Come at me, bro.

Forget armor, just put on a small short range radar. replace all the tanks with VLS cells. implement a good data link to link it with proper AEGIS or AESA equipped ships and just turn it into a missile barge. Add a couple moving gantries so that it can rearm other ships.
If it isn't going to be part of a larger group, just load it to the gills with whatever cheap ASM/cruise missiles I can get my hands on and as good of a radar as I can mount on it.
Add on a couple 25mm auto cannons for anti boat work a 57mm cannon for the longer range shit.

Load it with mines and a deploying implement.
Sail it into the straight/harbor of your choosing, masquerading as a normal boat.
Fill waters with mines.
Now the coast guard has to spend untold man hours searching for every damn mine you dropped, and you've effectively stopped trade for that city in the mean time, or even entire regions if it's the straight in/out of the area.

Oil tankers are slow, big, unmanueverable and unstealthy. All bad characteristics for a warship. There is a reason why purpose built warships are very expensive.

Quick googling and nukemap gives us, for a surface explosion of a 550.000 DWT tanker full of uranium 235 (for a approximated yeld of 1093 kilotons) a nice fireball of 1.3 km radius.
