So its Bullpup thread time, today's topic: Whats so special about the CQC aug a3? It looks cool and has more tacticool rails and such but is it better? Is the tavor really that much better?
> inb4 jew shill
> inb4 maymay gun
im putting some serious thought into getting an AUG, but will it just be a toy compared to my noveske?

I've heard mixed things, I'm not convinced of the tavor, but I don't want to buy a toy for 2300+500$ optic if I'm going to have to put another 450$ into its "cqc" rail system
>>
>>29737162
What Tavor is $2300? I see them go for $1600 all day long.
>>
>>29737162

I'll keep it because I like bullpups. Other people have been putting their support hand on the front of the trigger guard to avoid the wandering zero.

I'm talking about the AUG, sorry I wasn't clear.
>>29737206
On the tavor?

I just don't want to buy an AUG or any other bullpup and end up like pic related.

I like the KSG I have, it rocks with the short shells. Anything more is a bit much for recoil if I'm magdumping 14 shotgun shells.

The tavor seems to have a great marketing campaign, but I hear the AUG needs work out of the box, like trigger and handgrip work, possibly new rails like >>29737093
>>
>>29737258
AUGs, depending on model, can be had for $1700. Check out PJS, he seems to be the best as far as AUG pricing goes.

But comrade,
I have a confession to make...
I am from commiefornia.
I was born here, it was not my choice
I have 3500-4000$ to play with, I would get a KAC but its on "the list"
I've always thought the AUG looked cool since I was a kid, so I sort of want it over the tavor, even though the tavor is far cheaper here (1700-1800)
>>
>>29737258
find one to shoot.
i really liked a lot of the aspects of the tavor on paper. then i shot one.
while it isnt terrible by any means, it was just so bland, it was a big let down for me.
>>
>>29737428
Unfortuanly, CA, not easy to find one to shoot. Nothing within a two hour drive at least. Is there a big difference between it and the AUG? I'm leaning towards AUG because it looks like a space cannon

The MSAR's apparently have the bulk of the problems form what I've heard and it's still not known what all is interchangeable between the MSAR and Steyr guns. The Aug does have a squishy trigger, but that's the price you have to deal with when going with any bullpup. The only problem I really have with the AUG is the getting a good cheek weld with the factory scope. Also, the factory scope is pretty much junk by today's standards. Great for the 70's and 80's, abysmal today. If you get one, go for one with the rail. Also, waffle mags are $21 a piece straight from Steyr. Also, if you're ever going to shoot it both left and right handed, get a brass deflector. It'll save you from getting a fucked up lip from the casing.

General consensus of the Tavor is, the factory trigger is shit. Also, I never knew about the wandering POI. That's pretty scary for me. I kinda wonder if the X95 alleviated that. Speaking of which. If you're going to go with an IWI, go with a X95. Seems like they fixed a lot of problems and negative things from the tavor.

If you shop smartly, you can pick up a current Steyr AUG A3 for about $1700.
I think the X95's are currently going for $1900 or so, but I expect to see that come down by years end.

IMO, I prefer the AUG.

OH MY GOD THEY DO SHIP TO CALIFORNIA!!!!!
all I gotta do is ship him a bullet button. The guy was super friendly, for 2000$ I can get a bitching Aug a3m1 with the classic looking 3x scope
Fuck yes.
Thanks /k/

Thank you, that was illuminating.
But I have a question about what makes the scope it comes with so bad? I think it looks pretty classic, and the guy I talked to said it can be removed. With the leftover money I might buy either an engagement ring, or a ACOG.
>>
>>29737653
not him- but basically it works but dated.
the flip side is, if you get a rail model, you might have to deal with knobs or levers on your mount getting in the way as well as eye relief and optic height on some optics. the integrated optics does away with this.

The FOV is pretty much not there, the older models just use a simple cross hair that IMO is pretty thin and kind of hard to pick up. The older ones were a 1.5x only. The newer ones come in either. I know the 3.5x changed the reticle. It's a little better, it's still a cross hair but it has a dot in the center and a larger ring around the dot. Very similar to an E.O. tech setup. If memory serves. I might be thinking of the G36E 3.5x though. It also just feels like it sits too low.

If you get a new one, you can remove the scope from the receiver and switch it out for a rail. I think the rail goes for something like $200-$250 from Steyr. The scope on its own for a 3.5x I think goes for $500+.

BTW, average price for an AUG with a 3.5x scope already install averages about $2200 versus the $1700 for a standard top railed version.

Bonus for.the 3.5x though is all the mall ninja rails on the scope.
>>
>>29737847
Eh. I wasn't sure if it was 1700 or not. But, okay.

I think the glass is pretty damn nice on these scopes. iirc they're made by Meopta.
>>
>>29737093
Augs look awesome so I really wanted one but as soon as I saw the true customisable potential of the AR I was sold. Especially at the price point
>>
>>29738030
handled one in a shop. nice overall, but i noticed the front grip wiggles around slightly. not that it would actually affect anything significant but is that normal?
>>
>>29737530
I called earlier and the man was very helpful. I'm not sure how much I will save in the end with the transfer fees, shipping cost, and to ship him a bullet button to install (which he charges for, not complaining but it adds to the cost) so it might be worth it to just buy the expensive Cali ready one at the shitty gunstore in the ghetto, cash. I just can't decide if I want to use the shitty scope that looks classic and skip getting an expensive optic, or get the long rail and spend 1000$ on an ACOG, and then 50$ on the covers and reflection difuser.
>>
>>29739815
It seems normal. But maybe that's why they have the cqc version with a rail instead of a grip so you can put on magpul furniture
>>
>>29738030
>I think the glass is pretty damn nice
Too bad the reticle is complete cock.
>>
Saving up for a Tavor, currently. Can't wait until I get it in my hands.

Quick question, would it be possible to modify it to be full auto?
>>
>>29739815
Mine wobbles some. Was a bit annoyed at first but when handling it doesn't affect anything.

>>29740099
Get the 3x scope with it. If you hate it, it'll be easier to sell the scope and buy a rail. You already said you want a more classic look. And most def buy from Pete if you decide on one.

>>29740117
The cqc seems to make it overly front heavy though.

>>29740138
Obviously it's personal preference, but the thin lines with the ring work well on a 3x optic.

Thank you, you hit it right on the money. The cqc looks like extra weight, I'm for lightweight setups because I'm a rather small guy. I'm fit, but there is a huge difference between carrying around the ar 10 and the ar15 I've built. I am going to call tomorrow and order one. I like the classic look, the battlefield look (cqc) is nice, but it looks like it's pretending to be am AR, and its not.
I hear people kvetching about the trigger, is there a way to fix this? Will it really be worse than the 870, the keltec, the mosin, or the vepr? The trigger is a key component to accuracy and I'm no slouch, I just hope the trigger isn't my gripe.
Pic related it's the family so far.

Shut the fuck up you stupid fan fuck boy. The gun is okay at best and was only really worth it if you could get it at 1600$

Out of the bulpups I have fired, the tavor was the most dissapointing. I felt no real "improvements" over the AUG or the fn2k. Infact, the weight placement is a bit wierder then those other two.

The Aug is not light, but it's balanced.

The trigger will fight you a bit due to its design. I'd say it feels more like a factory Glock trigger. The $30 neu trigger helps clean it up, or so ive heard.
