RPR-1-9Ts2Yamz73j83.jpg

Hello /k/omrades,

Ausfag here and I'm putting on the big boy pants. I've ordered a Ruger Precision Rifle in 308.

I have been looking for something to do some decent distance in 308 that also takes the AR-style parts and the RPR seemed to tick all the boxes plus it's looks sexy as fuck.

I'd like to hear from anyone who's had one, got one or played with one and tell me if I did good...

Yes.

why'd you pick .308 over 6.5cm?
>>

>6.5creedmore, more like 6.5mememore.

Availability of 308 is pretty universal and also that I already stock a fair range of 308 mags that will suit.

That was another reason, I have zero experience with 6.5mm and prefer to stick to a list of 'standard cartridge' sizes that I know will be available 99% of the time

Rifle
- 22lr
- 223 / 5.56
- 308 / 7.62
- 12 Gauge

Pistol
- 38
- 9mm
- 45 ACP

For my 12 Gauge, I have adaptor tubes to allow me to fire 9mm, 45ACP, 410 and 22LR as a just in case.

wouldn't exactly call .45 as available as .38 or 9mm

Very true and in Aus owning a 45 ACP pistol requires a high power pistol license ( which I don't have ) so my supply of 45 is generally used via the shotgun

I also ordered mine in .308 because creed may be better round BUT
> i do not reload
> it is exremely rare out of the US
> so fucking expensive out of the US
> ranges do not allow it for some bogus reason

.308win was the logical coice, Anon.

How much would a .308 cost vs a 6.5CM in your state?

Excellent, I'm not alone.

I also don't reload at this point though I have all the gear, I generally just buy up when Cleavers have specials on.

Anytime before 1996 unfortunately unless you can qualify for a Category D license.

The easiest way would literally be to move to the US; though New Zealand is an option if you just want a semo-auto version.

Op here. So what do you guys currently shoot with, what distances, etc? Are you upgrading or adding something new to the collection?

I currently have a Mossberg Flex Tactical and a Browning X-Bolt (both in 223) and looking to get more reliable at the 300-400 yard mark.

I ordered the .243 version.
