What does /k/ think about the 300BLK?
>>
>>29728995
Great for suppressed SBR's. Eh for everything else. Inb4 48292262925 replies comparing it to 762x39

>yeah, that's the fucking point
>>
>>29728995
if the hearing protection act passes I imagine it will become very popular
>>
>>29728995

Its one hell of a buttplug. Op should try it.
>>
>>29728995
I like it for AR hunting, as It's just a barrel swap and resight.

110/125 gr bullets hit plenty hard enough for deer shot ranges. It's cute for suppressed. plinking wise it's meh.
>>
>>29729049
It's already very popular.

If the HPA passes (which it won't unfortunately), then it'd become as popular as 5.56 right now.
>>
>>29728995
Meme cartridge that's going the way of 6.5 greendale
>>
>>29728995
It gave me an excuse to get into reloading.
>>
>>29729099

Interesting. You wouldn't even put it even put it on par in popularity with 6.8 SPC or 6.5 Grendel at this point?
>>
>>29729099
I wanted a 6.5 until I read up on it and learned you need special mags to go with it. I could handle bolt and barrel, but mags kill it.
>>
>>29729153
You can use normal mags I thought. Is this a MEME IN A MEME?
>>
>>29728995
A lack of market share makes me nervous to invest in it. Like 357sig which was "popular" and shows a ton of potential but now costs a fuckton of money and may be on the way out

My ar pistol is thusly chambered in 5.56.
>>
>>29729174
You need special mags for the Grendel, in addition to bolt and barrel.
>>
>>29729218
Show me Neo.
>>
>>29728995
If I made a dedicated subsonic 9" AR would aluminum be strong enough for a monocore suppressor?
>>
>>29729174
Nope, it's not a meme. 6.5 requires special mags.

The best part about .300blk is no special bolt or magazine. It's THE best round to suppress out of an AR. Suppressors have gained tons of attention over the last few years (my Osprey is numbered in the 25k while my friends from last year is in the 7k range) and continue to grow in popularity.

.300blk is here to stay as long as suppressors are a thing. The 6.5 and 6.8 comparison is a bad one for a variety of reasons, but mainly because:

>no magazine compatibility
>no bolt compatibility
>they're (kind of) trying to do the job of a .308 but don't live up to it

.300 Blk was designed to mimic the 7.62x39 cartridge (which it does well) while also being ideal for suppression (which it is) all while using standard AR parts.
>>
>>29729275
Nice copypasta memer.
>>
>>29729254
What grade aluminum, how long do you want it to last?
>>
>>29729234
I've seen it at the range. A straight 20 556 mag MAY work, but the guys have lots of FTF. The creator of the 6.5 Grendel had specific mags that are designed for smooth and sure feeding of the round.

If your fancy round has trouble feeding in normal mags and requires a specific mag in addition to everything else, than it's of no use to me.

>>
>>29729324
is 7075 strong enough? I am just shotgunning questions out there to form a basis for research
>>
>>29729360
Thanks, even tho it's anecdote. I'd like to see real information about it if possible, but yeah a quick google brings up people on arfcom and beyond who have issues with 5.56 mags.

That said, I fucking despise that they sell a 24 round magazine as a "high capacity" mag.
>>
>>29729392
For that round, I really wouldn't want their 24 round mag. I'd rather the shorter mag because it would be a bench/bipod gun.

And after seeing those 3 guys with their 6.5 Grendel rifles constantly getting "clicks" from their FTFs, that told me everything I need to know.
>>
>>29729455
>my one small contained experience told me everything I needed to know
Wellll I can see who isn't STEM.
>>
300blk is good for hunting (110/125gr in a 16") and subsonic shenanigans (220gr in a 8.5" suppressed). I have a 8.5" upper for my SBR that I throw my can on, but to be honest, I've only used it once. Until they get the price per round down significantly, it'll stay a novelty round for me.

>STEM gives people logic and common sense
I'm an engineering student and I can tell you there are abundant nerds in STEM who don't know their head from their asshole

It bothers me. Very few people I've met in college have any common sense or humility. I can't get along with people who think they know everything
>>
>>29729697
>I'm an engineering student
Where there's your problem. A good bit of em will be washed out.
>>
>>29729494
>one small contained experience
3 guys
3 different rifles
1 same caliber
5 different types (both size and maker) of 556 mags causing FTFs

That tells me enough.

>>29729719
>doesnt know what anecdote is
>doesnt know why it is immediately dismissed
Pls stop and use google or sumptin.

>suppressing some shitty little AR when you could be suppressing glorious finnish 20×138mmB
>>
>>29729719
>that tells me enough
It tells you that those three guys experienced problems in one session. It's possible (and likely) they all three built their rifles together, perhaps even built them themselves, and its also very possible that they all had the same ammo that was possibly hand-loaded by the same guy.
If they are getting ftf's in the sense that the bolt isn't picking up a round and chambering it (which is what it sounds like from your story, what with the *click*) then it's entirely likely that their rifles were under-gassed.
The sample size, as well as the quality of the sample are insufficient to draw any real conclusion that isn't "I don't want what they have"

7.62x39 with 100% more memes

300 blackout ar pistol is best pistol
Small enough and light enough to be a backpack gun or a briefcase gun
>>
>>29728995
Not big enough.
>>
>>29729058

"AR hunting" is fucking gay.
>>
>>29728995
It's fine, but why? Why not just load 7.62x39 to subsonic?

Oh right because then you can't make dosh selling proprietary ammo to mall ninjas who to be just life the SOF ohmahgawd imma operator operating operationally
>>
>>29730969
fudd detected
>>
>>29731058
Also because case geometry of .300 blk makes it more efficient to load subs in it.

Because ar modularity and mags.
>>
What would be the better choice, excluding .308, for a non-suppressed hunting round?

You can't use AKM mags with it?
>>
>>29728995
Its kinda a meme caliber.

But would love to have a PLR-16 in it.

Shooting subsonics in it would be fun

But im a fag who thinks PLR in drop leg holsters make me fell like taticool han solo.

It's the most tryhard mall ninja caliber there is.
>>

Elmer go home
>>
>>29728995
I'd already have one if I didn't live in Canada.
>>
>>29728995
It's more versatile and definitely has its military uses, but i'd just get an SKS in 7.62x39 over an AR upper in 300BLK, mainly for price reasons. Unless tacticool supressed AR is what you're after.
>>
>>29728995
>What does /k/ think about the 300BLK?
Why not 30 carbine?
(Beyond the whole just a barrel change needed thing for ar's.)
