I'm going to be making a retro build over the summer when I get enough dosh to do so.
One question: Wood furniture or surplus? Wood's got that NCR feel, but surplus can let me pretend I'm Snake in Peace Walker.

I've seen some really sexy A2 builds with walnut furniture, I'd go with that. It's a bit more unique, as well as classy.

Alright ARG the day has finally come.
Tomorrow morning, or later today shall I say, I will be building my first AR.
I have a PSA stripped lower, a lower build kit, a cuck button and a vise block.
Other than normal household tools what will I need?
I have gun oil and solvent etc, this isn't my first gun just my first AR.
Will any charging handle do the trick or are some completely garbage?
Poorfag so I will be buying the upper in the next couple of weeks.
I'm looking to pick up a charging handle, rear buis (Magpul or KAC), and a bullet button magnet.
Not planning on spending more than $50 for the sights, is that a good estimate?
How about charging handles? $25?

TL;DR babbys first AR build.

Are Lancer mags better than PMags, or are they just meme mags? I ask this because it seems like they're becoming pretty popular now after PMags have been the gold standard for years. I actually love the look of the smoked Lancer mags, but I'm sitting on a pile of unopened green PMags I bought on clearance.

Naw they good. They function as well as Pmags for me atleast and I have both.

My favorite mag is the lancer smokey 20rd'ers

the ones i've used have been great, but so have the pmags - i think you'd be fine with either

You'll need a Teletubby plush, 1998 Hasbro/Playskool non-talking edition. They pop up on Ebay from time to time. But they're hard to get because I buy them all.

>>
>>29725075
The guy who recommended it to me is an instructor at Quantico. He said it's all he uses now. He likes piston because ease of maintenance and use. And LWRC adds a lot of goodies baked into their guns right outta the factory.

Mine isn't the piston LWRC. But everything about it so far has been great compared to other rifles I own.

I'm not really loyal to any one brand either.
>>
>>29724973

A regular charging handle will get you started and when you have the cash and there's a sale you can pick up a BCM for $35. For assembling a lower I use vice grips taped up and scissor clamps to hold the pins in place. A razor blade for the pivot pin detent(look that up on youtube)
>>
>>29724973
50 bucks for a rear is a bit on the minimum side
get a razor blade it will help immensely with the takedown detents
>>

Magpul MBUS regular or pro for a good rear sight

Rate my poorfag AR

Budget was 600$ did it in a bit less.

Odin works Black Nitride Bolt Carrier Group
Chink shit sight (sightpoint)
Anderson lower w/PSA buffer and butt
Type 89 compesator
Tactical ambush upper (never again)
Generic flip up back up sights
a pmag 2

It was a learning experience, but a first is a first.

These three colors. I cut out some printed out M90 courtesy of D60 and just laid it on the rifle and painted away. I used the lightest grey first, then the black, the the battleship grey

Primary arms
>>
>>29726188
Yeah try using saran wrap a toilet paper roll and a red sharpie

Or you could get a primary arms dot. Not sure which is better.
>>
>>29726074
How so?

Maybe aesthetically but they help dissipate heat and keep it an HBAR while also minimizing weight. Plus fluting has various other benefits for accurizing the gun.

Yeah but that will be more expensive maybe beyond your budget
>>
>>29724723

I know they get a lot of grief, some deservedly so, but Del-ton isn't that bad these days for a low budget build.

I went with them because I'm a poorfag and a MDfag (has to have a Heavy Barrel). I'm quite happy with it but next time I'll probably build my own upper half.

>$415 DT custom upper
>$50 Anderson lower
>$50 CMT LPK
>$60 A2 stock/buffer assembly
>$20 Chink-made iron sights

Under $600

I've been looking at Amazon folding irons for my future poorfag build. Some kinda Green Blob shit looks good. Details on either of yours?
>>
>>29727301
You live by league city?
>>
>>29727339
Yeah, I was driving on Walker St right by UTMB when the tornado touched down in a field right next to us and swept over us.

That was pretty fun, I'm not gonna lie. After it passed over us, I watched it rip a bunch of shingles and roofs off houses and toss around a trampoline like a child's toy.
>>
>>29727361
Yeah I aas supposed to go to a GoT party in that area this evening but saw that weather and figured I'm good at home. I'm only like 12 minutes away but still.
>>
>>29727401
Staying home is what I should've done... I didn't realize how bad the weather got. 2 small tornadoes, light hail, etc.

We're supposed to get more flooding up until Wednesday. Thankfully League City dug a fuckton of retention ponds so flooding doesn't get bad here.

By the way, thanks for pointing me towards primary arms about 3 weeks ago. Ended up ordering a bunch of stuff from them that I pick up tomorrow depending on the weather.
