Can somebody tell me what Red Jacket really was? Some time ago somebody told me that in reality they were shit, thier guns sucked dick and most of the builds in the show was scripted since nobody wanted to buy anything from them. I also heard that some other company was making guns for them? Is this true? I know about "neva been dun befo", child abuse etc. But i'd like to know about quality of their guns.

I know that several of thier builds were for military personel buying weapons for personal use, and the show got all autistic to try to make it sound like they were developing cutting edge tech to keep our troops safe, like, basically pretending that because they sold some army brat a gussied up AK to shoot beer cans with they were some how contributing to the war on terror.
They would constantly say shit that was frankly so wrong as to be unsettling considering that it was coming from a gunsmith.
In another episode some guy who was *supposedly* from a government agency wanted a remote control machinegun turret. They had a team of engineers from a nearby college make it for them and basically just didnt do anything except mount the gun on it, and then pretended like they built it themselves. I think the buyer was fake and the event was staged as part of thier "were supporting our troops" PR stunt campaign.

I like Dual Survival, its not in the same league as Survivorman when it comes to realism and its obvious that after the first season they often pick a route to travel before hand so they'll have some stunts to do along the way; but they still show some interesting things and they generally don't show you stupid shit that will get you killed like Bear Grylls does.
Honestly half the appeal of Dual Survival for me is just that they hike through some pretty rad terrain that I'll probably never get the opportunity to see in person.
