You're right, but what about personal experiences? Any malfunctions of any sort?

>>29719864

That's the drawback, but apparently they're a bestseller

Topic is open to other models as well!
Polish Radom P-64 = bargain PPK?
>>
>>29719911
>That's the drawback, but apparently they're a bestseller

normal shields dont have disconnects.
>>
>>29719911
I really like the idea of the p64
IMO 9mm Makarov is a pretty good round for SD

handy little gun, really love the decocking function

only drawback is the hard as fuck DA trigger pull
otherwhise I think it´s one of the best "budget" CCW out there
>>
>>29719916

Starting with a normal Shield, sans mag disconnect, what's the optimal set-up?

Stock or modified?
>>
>>29719959
>what's the optimal set-up?
No thumb safety for starters. I bought a shield from psa yesterday and I plan on getting the apex trigger kit, trijicon hd sights and maaaybe magguts springs for the possibility of a flush 8+1 or 9+1.

The shield's stock trigger is pretty meh and the apex fixes it up a lot

Got to check out a Bersa 380 at the LGS.
Actually thought it was more comfortable than the Shield!

Bersa Thunder was my CCW for over a decade. Last year I switched to the SIG P238. Nothing wrong with the Bersa, just wanted something new.

I happen to own both.
My m&p is a fantastic firearm.
The Walther is nice too.
Short answer, I'd CC The Sheild over the Walther in any circumstances.

M&P
>pros
•8round mags
•very light
•moderately good trigger
•excellent sights (preference)

>Cons
•very tight mag springs
•slide release is very very tight, works really only as mag stop. Must train to manually release slider
•small controls (again, preference)

PPK
>Pros
•hammer fired
•decent mag capacity
•slide mounted safety
•good size controls

>cons
•380
•less avaliable
•small / nonexistent aftermarket
•fedora meme
>>
>>29719777
>magazine-disconnect
Is this only on a certain model? My Shield doesn't have one but my M&P9 did, but I had that disabled.
>>
>>29723649

I've actually never had that particular problem but I could see it being an issue.
>>
>>29723649
>slide release is very very tight, works really only as mag stop
S&W specifically notes that it is a stop, not a release. Doesn't really become useable as a release until it is worn in quite well or you file it down yourself.
>>
>>29723728
Yeah. It's not necessarily bad but I'm used to just dropping the slide on my pistols. You still can with the Sheild but it's small and tight

Question, why ppk vs shield? I hear great things about the ppk, sure, and everyone I've met with a shield loves it, but why these two in particular? Is the shield being considered some anti ppk or something?
>>
>>29723854
Anon prob ownes one and has the chance to buy the other
>>
>>29723721
What hollow points do you carry with the PPK (PPKs probably)? Is FTF or light strikes an issue for you?

My trigger finger gets pinched between trigger and guard after extended sessions, ever have that issue?

I have both, I trust my shield more as a defensive weapon but shoot the PPK more accurately. Also, the PPK is more comfortable to carry, might be a leather holster vs kydex for shield but I think it's all the sexy curves on the PPK.

Shield is utilitarian and the pragmatic choice. I love my PPK though
>>
>>29724961
I actually do not carry the PPK. Although for my Sheild I use my buddies 9mm hollow point reloads

And nah, the gun runs pretty good. I do need to get myself more mags.

With your issues, try different ammo and if it still happens try different mags

just got one, The DA is literally 15-20 lbs. besides that its sweet.

>>29725303
It's the two part feed ramp. Some flat fmj or hollowpoints get stuck there. XTPs run pretty well

Not really hearing anything good about the pistol. Picky with ammo, bad trigger pull, stuff like that. Want to like it though.
>>
>>29723407
I saw the Bersa today. Was intrigued. You say nothing is wrong with it... So what can you tell me about it that's right?

Just looking at .380s in general. Like this one and the Bodyguard.

Okay, first, one more thing to keep in mind, the Bersa is heavier than most other .380 pistols.

What's right with it? The price, they can be bought for around $250-300. They have an all metal construction if that is your thing. I don't have huge hands so it fits pretty good.

The trigger is a DA/SA. The double action is long and heavy. Feels almost like a Beretta 92FS in DA. Except not as smooth. SA is short, light, and fairly crisp for a bargain pistol. While no where near as good as say, a P226, the trigger isn't terrible. I like the trigger. The safety is mounted on the slide but because the pistol is not that big you shouldn't have an issue using it. Also functions as a decocker.

For ammo, it works with everything. Seriously. I have yet to find something that does not work. Cheap hollowpoints work, Critical Defense works, the Lehigh Penetrators work, and the Buffalo Bore "+p" hard nose works. The Lehigh was the last ammo I carried in it. My SIG P238 does not work with the Lehigh because of its feed ramp.

Last holster I bought for it was from N82. That is another good thing, since it has been around for years there are plenty of holster options out there.

One last thing, there are lemons out there. People on /k/ love to post their horror stories. Seems that people that love the Bersa, love it completely and people that hate it, hate it completely. Not much middle ground. Besides, since it is fairly cheap you can resale it and not be out that much money if you decide at the end of the day it isn't the pistol for you.

Sorry for the shit quality picture, but that's it next to the 22 round drum I bought years ago for it.
