Getting out of the military in 16 months and want to do something somewhat operator.

So far I have ATF, CPB and Capitol police in mind. Does anyone know anything or have experience about any of these?

Heck, I guess we could make this an operator job thread as well.

Capitol Police are security guards. You'll be checking bags and moving traffic cones all day. Dont do it.
>>
>>29706298
Join any state or local PD and join the SWAT. Its operator *enough*.
>>
>>29706298
>ATF
how about no.

where the fuck do u think u are
joining the enemy????!

>Capitol Police
Better off going with DC Metro. They're hiring like crazy and the pay isn't bad. Only thing is they still do ticketing so that'll eat up a lot of time sitting around waiting on lawyers.
>>
>>29706298
Contact Sttep International if you're interested in working in the same company as Eeben Barlow.
>>
>>29706388
>DC Metro
The only PD in the region that doesnt require poly as a part of hiring process. Fuck that.
>>
>>29706436

>implying polygraph tests are worth a fuck

No, never. Please, whatever you do, don't become a LEO, I have enough retards that I work with.
>>
>>29706298
>ATF
I hope you get friendly fired before you get discharged
>>
>>29706490
>Please, whatever you do, don't become a LEO

Oops, too late. You should have asked me earlier.
>>
>>29706298
>ATF

get ventilated by cultists, faggot
>>
>>29706504

Christ on a cracker. You're a cop and you *still* defend polygraphs? Jesus dude. Let me guess, fresh out of the academy?

Don't worry, we were all boots once.
>>
>>29706298
I'll rub my balls on a cops face.
>>
>get out
>get bachelor's
>applying through the FBI's tactical program that guarantees you a shot at HRT after two years of being a special agent
>dont be a fuckwit and pass HRT selection
>rescue hostages but mostly be a special agent while waiting to operate

there you go, have fun
>>
>>29706298
WTF are you right now? Are you some leg clerk? A cook? Do you have a P or V identifier?
>>
>>29706298

>be a guard for the BOP
>work for them for a few years
>get your marshal's license
>become marshal or DEA

It's fun, I enjoy it.
>>
>>29706298
>ATF

Get the fuck out, traitor. I hope you tactically ND into your face.
>>
>>29706557
You seem upset. Poly cost you a few unwanted files in your personal folder?
Poly has its uses and nothing is perfect. But not using it at all during hiring is a mistake.
>>
>>29706569
>rescue hostages

That's an odd term for shooting nursing mothers.
>>
>>29706436
>The only PD in the region that doesnt require poly as a part of hiring process. Fuck that.

Uh......lol DC requires a poly. Note step #3
http://mpdc.dc.gov/page/police-officer-selection-process
>>
>>29706629

>poly landing ANYTHING in your file

It's literally illegal to use poly as a base for anything.

We use it as a gimmick to get stupid kids to admit to drug use so we have an excuse to thin our numbers. On average for a 200 man academy we'll have over 800 applicants.
>>
>>29706644
Hmm, I'll be damned. My info was outdated. Good on them.
>>
>>29706672
I'm applying with them so I was almost positive I had to go to DC for a poly. Taking the exam next month, if it's anything like Chicago's it'll be a breeze. Not sure why they make them so easy to pass. Seems like they could weed out more shitbags with harder testing.
>>
>>29706711
Turn over is brutal. They need people on the street.
>>
>>29706711

>single test

Whut, in my state we have 22 different written exams spaced out over 6 months.
>>
>>29706722
>Turn over is brutal.
So i've heard. Bad enough they're having people sign contracts when they begin the academy so they won't ditch if a better offer comes. Why i'm hesitant because I just tested with Chicago, and planning on taking their end of 2016 exam due to nobody showing for this exam so not sure I want to commit to DC.
>>
>>29706298
Join the ATF so you can take away others' gun rights and get sweet loot in the process.
>>
>>29706731
to get into the academy. Once you're there I'm sure you test more and often. Chicago is 6 months and DC is 8 so i'm sure they test you further once accepted.
>>
>>29706755
>Chicago
>DC

Pretty much same shit.
>>
>>
>>29706781

That makes sense, I misunderstood.
>>
>>29706798
Haha true. But:

DC pays less but doesn't care where you live as long as you're at roll call on time. Plus being Asian I think i'll have a better shot at DC(super PC/minority hiring crazy).

Chicago pays a bit better and I'm from WI orig so have family in the area. Plus great uncle was CPD and grandfather drove an ambulance for the city so it'd be nice to work in Chicago.
>>
>>29706379

Didn't expect to get this many responses so far. If it helps I'm an E5 Intelligence that's getting paid a bit over 50k not counting Healthcare and such.

I'd like to make use of my TS/SCI but I would really like to try something like this. Ultimately getting a senior investigator position at some point later.
>>
>>29706836
Sounds like a personal choice, you'd have to make on your own.
>>
>>29706586
Intelligence Specialist
>>
>>29706881
> TS/SCI
Shit in that case anon, go federal. Think the starting GS11 pay grade is similar to what you're making now.
>>29706895
It's really who calls me to report to the academy first. I'd be happy in either city. Chicago is just my ideal choice.
>>
>>29706388
What interests me about USCP is the CERT unit really and the pay itself doesn't seem that bad.
>>
>>29706881
Guy that was telling you about HRT here, I thought you were Combat Arms, but ya weren't, you can still apply to the FBI after your bachelor's but you wont get the guaranteed shot at HRT like if you applied through the tactical route, you'd have to be recommended while being a special agent

Mil experience will still help getting into the FBI though
>>
>>29706881
>e5
>no degree
>wants to join a federal law enforcement agency
have fun with that one kiddo
>>
>>29706922
>USCP
DESU anon, I know very little about them. I'd hate being confined to the Capitol/Parks. Unless I got on some security detail, that could be interesting.
>>
>>29706946
That's why I mentioned agencies that do not require a 4 year degree right off the bat.

Not like I'm trying to jump into SAD, HRT or NCIS with no education. I'd much rather devote energy towards actually getting hired, getting some LEO exp under the belt along with school.
>>
>>29706764
Only thing with ATF is that it would likely be a brutal paycut.

But hey, guns.

Hello Mr. ATF. :^)
>>
>>29706569
>>29706934
Appreciate the input so far.

I will admit FBI was on the list but it's definitely something I'd only consider after getting a bit of LE xp and school.

I'm aware of other divisions besides HRT as we but I guess you're not mentioning them for a reason.
>>
>>29707092
>>29706616
>>29706541
Op again. So what is really so bad about ATF besides the pay and how other agencies just seem to make fun of them?

And don't bring up that video with the airsoft gun as well. There are paste eaters In every agency/community.
>>
>>29707110
Only mentioning HRT since it's the one I've done the most research on

And no problem, good luck familia
>>
>>29706881
You fucking POG ass bitch, of course you wanna be "high speed".

Don't know why that's your natural response but ok, bud.
>>
>>29706950
I'm sure you'd have to work up to it but I'd imagine there would be a lot of opportunity to be on some congressman's detail.

>>

You have to have a bachelor's degree or 3 years federal law enforcement. Working for the BOP qualifies.

There are so many assholes right out of college with degrees that people with any kind of experience are being literally fought over by the alphabet soup law enforcement agencies.

Degrees are a dime a dozen, but experience, even just being a prison guard, is highly valued. If you have both it's unbeatable.

I worked for the BOP at a minimum security facility for 5 years before being picked up by the DEA.

The DEA is absolutely wonderful to work for, the pay is great, depending on your rank, there are transfer options to pretty much anywhere in the US, them federal benefits.

The US Marshalls are another option to look at, they don't hire very often, because people that end up with them essentially always end up retiring there, but when they do they prefer to take young guys from other federal agencies.

Any way you go, the BOP is a great way to get your foot in the door to other federal law enforcement agencies if that's what you're looking to get into.
>>
>>29707709
I'm getting more research together on them but that would be a great option as well I think
>>
>>29708873
Depends on your NEC but sure.
>>
>>29706909
Unless you graduated BUDS after A school, you should prolly GTFOH!
>>
>>29709890
Obviously bait but I'm bored. What does that have to do with anything.

Also: BUD/S*
>>
>>29709465
Thanks a million, anon. Are you a Special Agent? I had heard that the DEA is where the crazy motherfuckers go, is there any truth to that(besides you being there)?
>>
>>29710624
If you become a fed, you become the automatic enemy.

Know that.
>>
>>29710638
All of this "enemy" talk sounds like mostly memespeak tbqh.
>>
>>29710638
>implying they couldn't just go rogue to join any actual happenings
>implying there aren't a shitload of military vets who are anti-government but have technically fought as feds.
