What is the best rifle/air gun for hunting small game?
>>
>>29703631
What distance are you hunting at?
What's your budget?
>>
>>29703631
40 mike mike m203 should get it.
>>
>>29703636
>distance
Nothing long range, maybe 200 yards at most
>budget
<800
>>
>>29703698
Meant to say feet, not yards
>>
M2 Browning
>>
M&p 15s were really affordable, I guess it depends on how much people are trying to gouge the price for ar's in your area
>>
>>29703698
Check out this guy's stuff
https://www.youtube.com/user/EdgunUSA
His reviews include those ridiculous 2000 dollar guns, but there are guns in your budget that might interest you
>>

A sufficiently accurate small bore, and I would generally recommend 22LR, but splurging on a budget 223 bolt action may be worth it if 22LR is hard to find where you live and would require ordering online.

At those ranges, you could get away shooting cheap 223, which is 28cpr or less online.

22LR should be under 10cpr, but people are still dipshits about it.

Personally, I took a lot of jackrabbits with an 10/22 and just swapped barrels when they wore out. At the time, 22LR was $12 a brick though. Marlin Model 60s are good for the money if you live in a restricted state.

If you have the cash, a CZ 452 UltraLux is great and the long barrel goes a long way towards quieting the rifle.

Avoid 17HMR or 22Mag unless you are willing to pay the premium, which often will put you near the price of 223, particularly for 22Mag.
>>
For larger game, which ammo is better, 223 or 308? Or is it just preference?
>>
>>29703975
.308 lets you comfortably hunt deer and hogs at longer range. At close range, either will do as long as it's a good shot

What is the beat rail gun for small game hunting?
>>
Want accuracy from a small bolt gun?

Can't beat anything in .17hmr.

I have a Mossberg 817 with a Sweet 17 scope. Total price was maybe 300. Once I got it zeroed , it has become a tack driver. Incredibly fun little rifle to shoot. It's also not that expensive to shoot either. It's no .22lr replacment, but I average 25 to 30 cpr.

Only thing I hate about it is cleaning. Cleaning a .17 cal bore is a pain in the ass.
>>
If you want a neat airgun for under $500 I reccommend a Benjamin discovery , go on crosmans website and find the low country explorer pack

After that , I reccomend a tko muzzle brake

Mosin

Save a lot of time making soup. Might be kinda hard to get into a pot though.
>>
>>29703631
I've got a Benjamin Trail NP XL. It's pretty sweet brah.
>>
>>29703746

M777 howitzer. Just park it a good 15km away and saturate your property.
>>
>>29703631
Depends what country you're in as well because of various restrictions on power and such. I think you're in the clear if you're American
>>
.22LR subsonic HP 40 grain@75 yards with silenced bolt action or 14 ftlb .177 silenced air rifle at 50 yards with a 9 grain.

This way you can keep culling if you work carefully.

You can't silence .17HMR but if we are silenced it would be .17HMR.

Just as important a good gen1 or better with aiming device and a nice wide beam IR laser because it makes their eyes reflect brightly for an easy cull.

Rabbit in a pot - prepare and place meat in bottom of heavy casserole pot either with head or without, add water to cover meat and a half glass cider - two full potatoes cut in halves and two carrots

Slow cook for 2 hours.

Yummy.

You've never hunted small game have you?

Have you ever fired a gun at all?
>>
>>29709550
How the fuck care you going to dress or eat that now?

You fucking moron.
>>
>>29709604

I just thought the air rifle was neat.
>>
>>29709614
You want the minimum damage to meat.

You want a clean kill and flat shooting to ensure same and minimum meat damage.

357 is neither minimum meat damage or flat shooting.
>>
>>29709620

Would be pretty dank to silently shoot a squirrel's face and asshole off with a compressed air propelled .357 bullet tho senpai to be honest familia.
>>
>>29709634
Probably less effort to pay a crack head to let you shove heated wires up their ass if you are into pointless sadism.
>>
>>29709604
y-yes

>>29709611
oh, i just killed them for fun.
>muh wasted meat
nah, birds, coyotes, snakes, ants, flies, and whatever else made sure that no part of that rabbit was wasted.
>>
>>29709647

I'd say it would be pretty humane my friend.

It'd be like being hit with a cannonball, from his perspective.
>>
>>29709680
Go tell a psychologist you are angry cos you have no daddy and learn to hunt rather than 'killing stuff fer fun'.
>>
>>29709782
but i'm not angry, i do have a daddy, and killing things is fun.
>>
What is the best way to eat rabbits and other small things?

I'm not really interested in hunting them but I'm curious about how those who do do it.
>>
>>29709893
with your mouth.
>>
>>29709885
Sociopathy is not hunting.

"Since the 1970"s, research has consistently reported childhood cruelty to animals as the first warning sign of later delinquency, violence, and criminal behavior. In fact, nearly all violent crime perpetrators have a history of animal cruelty in their profiles. Albert deSalvo, the Boston Strangler found guilty of killing 13 women, shot arrows through dogs and cats he trapped as a child. Columbine shooters Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold boasted about mutilating animals for fun."

https://www.psychologytoday.com/blog/the-human-equation/201104/children-who-are-cruel-animals-when-worry

Hunting has a clean kill ethos and a purpose.

Rabbit & Cider - How To Make
>>
>>29703849
Tula .223 won't fuck up the rabbit too bad?
>>
>>29709921
hmmmmmm

Damn, I might have a reason to get a 7" barreled upper now..
>>
>>29709928
Just get a .22 adaptor
>>
>>29709921
Unless you get the bullet tumbling, the FMJs just ice pick through. Well, unless you hit the hip, skull, or another large bone.

For taking them as game, I would lean towards a rimfire rifle. A small rifle in a pistol caliber would also work, especially firing FMJs, though that limits options a lot.
>>
>>29709917
are you implying that a 5.56 to the noggin isn't a clean kill?
>>
>>29703631
For small stuff like your pic I would go with a nice reliable 22LR.
Maybe a bolt action for extra consistency also throw in a suppressor to make it extra quiet for shooting bunnies and shit.
>>
>>29704405
This. 22lr is more cost effective but if you're hunting you won't be blazing away anyway. 17 is an incredibly accurate round.
Anything larger, 30-06. Available everywhere and in 110 to 220 bullets.
>>
>>29709917
Don't respond to tripfags.

If it has to be an airgun, the EDGun Leyla is the only correct answer
>>
Marlin 39A or good semi auto 12 gauge.
>>
>>29703975
They are the same round one is a military round the other is civilian so you can use a 308 in a 223 but it is recommended not to go the otherway.

/s
>>
>>29703631
a .22cal Benjamin marauder PCP is a pretty good little hunting air rifle, they come suppressed and are pretty dang quiet. perfect for critter removal in city limits.
>>
What the fuck? 223 is not the same as 308! Perhaps u can call 223 the same as 5.56 nato but is's not. Close enough but different still. 308 is the same deal with 7.62 x 51, close but not the same.

>>
>>29709965
