I get that his robot arm was strong enough that he didn't need to use two hands, but why did he turn sideways and hold his other hand in the air like that?
>>29698216
>OLÉ!!
He was really heavy, so for balance.
>>29698216
That version of RoboCop had both arms/hands replaced
>>29698216
Because it's an action film made by Paul Verhoeven during the 80's and that looked cool.
>>29698308
What's an adult doing here on the weekend?
>>29698216
He's always ready to catch and return throw a grenade
>>29698400
It's still friday ya dingus.
>>29698216
Well I was thought there were two reasons:
>His robot arms aren't flexible enough to extend out front-wise, so he was to turn in-order to extend his arm
>Because it was in a stupid western he remembers from his Human days, and does it that way. The same reason he was always twirls his gun
>>29698216
unrelated, but I love the robocop movies. they're so stupid and unrealistic and robocop is an awful character. He walks slow and his only real power is that he's super-bulletproof. They're so violent and over-the-top and the villians are pretty rad. oh man, maybe I'll force my wife to watch them with me again.
>>29698216
Maybe because it's kind of a stylized way of doing the old school WW2 type one-handed shooting?
>>29698472
leaf bladed stance is better for individual shots, but worse for rapid fire. It also makes your silhouette a smaller target, but modern militaries do not use it because they have plate carriers.
He's about to shoot an endless wave of rapists in the dick, and that's the official dick shooting stance.
What about ED-209? Why did it growl like a lion and have rockets? How could it even arrest someone?
The older movies did have some cool guns in them though. The unedited version is great, all the extra footage is shooting.
>>29698216
> why did he turn sideways and hold his other hand in the air like that
>"BITCH I BE STYLIN' "
I think I remember the movie saying it was because he was so heavy, he had to do it for balance
>>29698562
I always assumed it would call in a unit to actually put hands on. And the ED-209 would merely cover them/use force to stop them

To aim better.
Great, now this whole thread is making me want to watch Robocop and the sequel. But fuck 3 and the reboot.
>>29698524
I know all of that shit, what are you 5? I was trying to answer OP's question.
He uses that stance because it just looks "cool".
There is nothing else to it. Being heavy has nothing to do with it. It's also why he turned his head away sometimes and didn't even look at where he was firing, because it looks cool in a western kind of way.
You can now go back to masturbating to pictures of horses in diapers and trannies.
>>29698768
HOLY SHIT WHAT THE FUCK
>>29698308
This OP
That movie was the best btw
Nobody has mentioned the counterbalance theory. His arms are heavy, so to keep himself balanced he extends the off hand backwards. You might also notice that his bulky chest plate prevents him from adopting a proper isosceles or weaver stance.
Being sideways also presents a smaller target, but he's fucking bulletproof anyway so that doesn't really matter.
>>29701637
>Nobody has mentioned the counterbalance theory
Except several posters.
>>29698216
I absolutely hate how they game him a human hand for robocop 2. It just looks so wrong.
>>29698524
>It also makes your silhouette a smaller target
However it lines your organs up for a gunshot, so if you DO get shot, the injury will end up being much more serious.
>>29701995
But your organs are smaller. So the damage would scale down.
>>29701989
They ruined everything about Robocop that made it good.
>>29698562
>How could it even arrest someone?
1. Issue verbal command
2. Escort to the wagon.
3. Use lethal force in case of non-cooperation
>coders in charge of police work
>>29698432
Holy tits. I never put the pieces together that there would be a weekday and weekend /k/.
I post from work, but never bother lurking on the weekend. Got better shit to do, unwindan, bbq with chums, naps onnacouch with battle buddy.
Then I check back in on threads monday morning,

I am always like "what the hell happened?"
Now I understand.
>>29698400
he's not the only one.
>>29701637
>counter-balance
He's a "heavy" robot with an outstretched arm shooting 9x19mm. Counter-balance is the stupidest fucking theory that you dipshits came up with.
It just looks cool. It's a movie.
>>29698451
>Because it was in a stupid western he remembers from his Human days, and does it that way. The same reason he was always twirls his gun
What he said. It's not hard to figure it out guys. Robocop did this because deep down, he did it because he loved his son, who loved silly westerns and this was the best he could do given how stiff he is.
>>29698768
My sides. Every time.
>>29698216
It mimics Jesus' pose on the cross, because robocop is an allegory for Jesus
>>29703616
>shooting 9x19mm
hehehehh glad you showed us how much you know....
and it is counter-balance. Swinging a 200lb metal arm full of pistons and servos at lightning fast speed tends to have quite a bit of momentum.
>>29702118
>>29702023
It does make you a smaller target, but afaik the reason they stopped teaching it is because it exposes the part not covered by your vest or strike plate.
>>29698562
ED209 was supposed to be something that Detroit of the 1980s would have cooked up: it looked awesome and kind of worked but ended up being this overpowered, buggy piece of shit.
>>29698216
Why do they give prototypes live ammunition?
The ED-209 had live ammo for a demo, and it killed someone.
Then in the second movie when they tried to create another robocop it shot two scientists before blowing its own brains out.
You'd think they learn not to give live ammo
>>29703850
Turns out OCP is kind of shit at anything that looks like responsibility.
>>29698216
Because it's a movie and the Jews thought it looked cool.

Nope. He could drive a car.

real aggressive dude. this is a catholic board.
>>29698216
turning all the way sideways presents the smallest target.
