As someone with astigmatism, get glasses/contacts or even surgery if that's an option for you. It's just a helluva lot easier and don't gotta worry as much. I got the sparc 2 and my eyes kept getting worse and worse. A expensive dot won't change your eyes. I really enjoy my sparc2 though. Hard to beat the warranty and price.

Shoehorning a piston onto an AR creates more problems than it solves. They do run marginally cleaner, but it has absolutely no effect on reliability. I had 3 DI ARs, never cleaned any of them until the insides were basically glued together with black goop and they always worked perfectly. Meanwhile, the forum threads about PAR and VAR rifles are a shitfest of issues, the rifles are out of spec, front heavy, beat themselves to death and the PAR comes with knockoff Magpul accessories that are literally worse than PTS.

Go see a lasik surgeon. I did so, paid $2500 and now see 20/20. What's really good is my long distance vision(this is good for shooting, mates). Before LASIK I wore contacts that supposedly corrected astigmatism as well, but an aimpoint red dot had the burst effect. Now it's a dot and it's been the best money I've spent, besides maybe my first guns. I'm a new man.

Honestly the only prism scope I've used is this Vortex Spitfire 3x. It's heavy, but the reticle is so sharp it blows my mind.

Personally. I think cheaper variable optics are better in the long run because if you are goal oriented towards purchasing a NF or S&B priced optic you can pocket that $300+ you saved by passing on the Leuey and put it away towards the nicer optic.
If you really don't think you want a $2500+ optic then it's probably better to just save up for your preferred optic from the start.
