bullet test, drop a bullet in the muzzle and see how far it goes in. Its to test how worn the rifling is. IIRC if the casing touches the crown then its not good.

>>

>so I got a slant muzzle brake
Slant brakes already make for weird and uneven gas distribution at the muzzle acting on the bullet, plus they suck as brakes.
IDK why you'd intentionally get one, or not trash it for something else instantly.
>>
>>29662196
maybe because I didnt wanna spend $100 on something that will give me a marginal boost over a slant brake on a rifle that I maybe shoot once every two months? Also consider the fact that I wanted to keep it looking like a stock AKM.
>>
>>29661594
I'll have to track it down, watched in some time ago. Some old gun benchrester talking about AKs. He seemed unpretentious and knowledgeable.

It makes sense to a ballistic layman like myself. Perhaps the slight wobble disturbs the pressure wave just enough to affect the bullet.

So what is the deal with the legality of threaded barrels? Its not regulated by my state but from what I read it is till regulated federally. Who do I listen to? Im looking to remove the spot weld on my WASR that is holding the current "break" on and installing the one that >>29662404 posted.
>>
>>29662616
Also if i install the new one and spot weld it on will it become legal again?
>>
>>29662624
I'm not aware of any federal law saying no yo threaded barrels. I think that's only for import purposes. And that's one of the things people do first, removing the spot weld to remove the thread protector.

I was thinking of doing a Trijicon MRO but there's literally zero information on it from any AK users--at least from what I've seen. I'd only get the MRO if it cowitnesses.

The Aimpoint T1/H1 might as well be the best sight to put on a foreward gas block rail.
>>
>>29668159
I've got about a thousand rounds of Tulaammo from Wal-Mart and about half that much black-box "Wolf."

I've got a .30 caliber ammo can full of "Red Army Standard," and a sealed full case of Ulyanovsk 124gr hollowpoints in boxes marked "Wolf Military Classic," supposedly 8M3, but it's impossible to know without testing several rounds or disassembling the cartridges then sectioning the bullets to check for the internal jacket grooves that distinguish real 8M3 from all the "hollowpoints" that don't expand.

Goddamnit. Can't the Russians make a 7.62x39mm hollowpoint round with a pure copper jacket, with as thin a jacket as possible and the deepest, widest cavity they can manufacture consistently? That wouldn't require any exotic manufacturing technology and for expanding bullets copper jackets seem more consistent and better performing than copper washed steel.

Yeah, I know. The Russians would already be making it if they thought there was a market for it. Has anyone seen any Hornady "Critical Defense" 7.62x39mm for sale anywhere lately?

Is there a source for perforated steel upper handguards for the AK? Like this one? Pic related.

I suppose ideally, to make it even more Slav looking, the holes should be oval-shaped, like the vent holes in the handguard of a PPSh41 or a PPS43.

I will never understand this shit.....

and MRO is not really the best. I'd stick with a T-1. Here is an example, the MRO blocks more of your visual, and also causes tunnel vision more than the aimpoints.

http://www.m4carbine.net/showthread.php?173637-Trijicon-mro-or-aimpoint-t2/page7

open the pics in tabs, and flip between each.

T1 looks much better.

So is this going to be known as the rare AK magazine boom of the spring of 2016?

Where the fuck is everyone getting these mags?? I had never even seen clear Russian AK mags until the neonazi's instagram a week or so ago. Is this the same guy I guess? "I've never seen a clear mag without cracks" how many fucking clear mags has he seen?

Also those 45 rounders aren't too unfairly priced. Those are Izzy 45 rounders not Molot. They're fairly up there on the #rare scale. I wouldn't say $650 rare personally, but hard to find nonetheless. I might buy one of those slabsides. He lives near me so if I get his return address I could maybe burglarize his house.
