Why? Like how is it better? I'm going to be shooting irons for a while and the GG&G seemed like a comfortable sight. What does the KAC have over it?

Durability, ease of zero, and ease of range adjustment. While the GG&G rearsight only has windage adjustment, the KAC has windage and elevation. Plus, military-issue brownie points.

Guys, how do I go about buying a used M951? As in, are there any counterfeits out there? Things I need to look out for? Should they all come with the IR filter? Is that something I can get separate if I can only find the light? I'll be buying used is why I ask.

Magpul MBUS Iron sights

If you want quad rail get a quad rail.

Otherwise I'd just recommend whatever you think looks good because I don't see a lick of difference in most hand guards aside from looks/weight.

Sig Sauer CP1 if you want a similar optic to an ACOG without the 1k pricetag.

How is the Noveske NSR 15 rail?

I was debating between an ALG Defense 15 inch rail, Geissele MK4 15 inch rail, and the NSR.

If I got the ALG rail, I would have money for an Aimpoint. But every Aimpoint I've used has given me a starburst effect from my fucked-up eyes. So I might just stick with irons anyways.

This is for my first rifle.
>>
>>29617891
I just bought one, and I'm driving to pick it up now. I'll let you know how it is.

Everything I've researched says it's a good starter rifle. Good barrel, good fit, then you get to choose the stock and handguard.

They're $535 after promo code "LY3" btw. I ordered mine before the promo code came out, and they still refunded me $25.

It's nice but I'm not a fan of the anti rotation pin. It requires drilling a hole in the upper receiver for the pin (unless your upper is pre-drilled, like the Noveske billet upper and the mega arms billet).

A lot of guys say the anti rotation pin isn't necessary, but I want one, which is why I would choose the Geiselle.

What barrel length is that?

Also for everyone:

When using a scope like the Vortex, what's an option for close quarters sighting (besides pulling out your pistol)?

I know micro red dots are popular, but seem a bit cumbersome to use.
>>
>>29618626
if micro red dots are too cumbersome for you to use then just spray and pray
>>
>>29618626
>When using a scope like the Vortex, what's an option for close quarters

Uh, putting it on 1x? That's sort of the reason the setting is there.
It's not as good as a true red dot (there is some minor fisheye and it's not as forgiving when it comes to eye relief and placement relative to the tube), but it's good enough.
>>
>>29618666

Right but wouldn't a canted red dot or on top of the scope be faster and better in low light?

Holy fuck, people actually go on waiting lists for the most universal part of the rifle? I'm sorry, but this blows my mind. You could buy a billet 80, sit down for 45 minutes with a drill press, and have a perfectly customization lower for half the price right then and there.

Lads what did i missed?

The update is...

I yet to send the broken bobro mount back. I talked with andrew bobro the man himself nice guy gr8 warranty.

I sold my psa upper with 3.3k round count to nice high school student and became a friend with him and im talking with him back and forth and pouring my knowledge into him and giving him advices. So far he's a good sponge soaking up my knowledge and advices. He seem want to be closer friend but wew lad i wouldnt have time for him i have too much friends already.

And... Um. I have bcm upper receiver now.

And... Hm... Aha i snagged myself a worn colt m16a2 upper receiver from marine. Its on way. Sexy a2 build with gooseneck maybe. Im now fishing for barrel for that upper.
It has to be
-carbine gassed 16" with fsb
-socom or hbar profile
-chromelined none of that nitrided shit
-twist rate doesnt matter as long it isnt slower than 1/9

And... Gucci HDSI upper+rare hdsi marked keymod geissele mk4 upper's performing great.

The deal for few kac 99051 front buis didnt pass through but theres still a hope.

There are a couple different versions of the story, but tl;dr Anderson had a run of lowers with 3/4" length grip screw length on the lower (milspec is 1"). Maybe you got one. I used Anderson LPK's and the screws provided, didn't even check them. But I have a stash of the 3/4" grip screws in case I ever run into that

There are concerns that 'BAD'-type levers can be actuated, thus locking the bolt back, without the operator's intent because the control arm is centimeters away from the trigger finger.

Not a true malfunction, but a user error that could really fuck (with) you at the wrong time.

Hey, I could really use some help if possible. So I'm going to the Syracuse, NY gun show tomorrow and hope to be able to purchase an AR lower if any are available. Problem is, I'm only 18 and will require a background check, I know when buying from an FFL you need to be 21 to purchase an AR lower, does the same apply to gun shows if you need a background check? Any way to skirt this if I do need to be 21? Also, this will be my first gun, what do I need for a background check? Depends on your budget and intended use. It definitely feels solid...weighs in at around a pound I think. The mounting hardware is robust. the 3x zoom is a sweet spot imo. Wish they had some statistic on the battery life, but with the etched reticule there's some leeway I guess

I don't know if I want to spend it on building a cheap AR or getting a nice shotgun or handgun. How good is an AR for camping/hiking carry?

shotguns kick a bit too hard for me and the ammo is heavy, but I don't have a gun yet so whatever I get is going to be my defense gun too, and shotguns are good at that. a pistol is nice and light, plus I could open carry or get a permit and conceal carry it but it might not be as effective as a rifle or shotgun. The AR seems like a good middle ground, but idk if for 600 dollars I could get one that isn't just the worst of both worlds instead of the best. what should I do

if you want an AR get a PSA Premium rifle kit and a stripped lower of your choice. Anderson lowers can be had for around $50. that will get you to the $600 mark but you wont have any mags/ammo/optics/iron sight.

I would think about it some more and either save more money for an AR or buy a handgun and some ammo

I mean, I've trained with my .17 air rifle for a while. My Opa was a sharpshooter and I'd listen to him talk about it occasionally, nothing really technical but it made me a bit more motivated to practice so I got an air rifle bc it was cheap as fuck, I'm not sure if the skill will transfer over though.

As for carrying, now that I think about it I rarely go somewhere where I could carry. I can't carry at work, I have therapy a couple times a week in buildings with no gun signs, which really only leaves grocery shopping as the only place I could carry aside from when I'm /out/, where I can open carry anything.

I like your brother's rifle. I'm considering that 5x scope for my 16" rifle, but I'm worried that it is going to be shit for closer shooting.
What stock is your brother using?

Fellow ny'er here yes you have to be 21. All the vendors there will just be ffl's from the area and you'll have to go through a background check anyways if you want to buy privately from someone at the show. In which case they'll see you are 18 and wont let you purchase it. I highly suggest buying a shit tastic safe act compliant ar while you can now and then just take the dildo stock off of it. Later you can buy a new upper or if they aren't banned a new stripped lower when you are 21

Just coyote hunting and adventures.

What's the best way to align a 1-6x scope with my rifle's vertical axis, without any specialized tools?
Just eyeball it from every angle and hope I'm right?
>>
>>29622512
just eyeball it, the important thing is that when you aim, you put the cross hairs level.
