To preface, I'm currently studying paleontology at SDSMT. T Rex and other therapods were very "birdy." The program is excellent, but SDSMT Master's in Paleo isn't necessarily a super great degree, only a little bit above a bachelor's in a related area. Some of the current professors are a little tough to get along with, especially Pagnac, but there's amazing fossil in the area. Rapid city is fantastic, small city with all the amenities, Black Hills, Custer, and Badlands all close by. Campus is very gun friendly, and there's shooting all over the place for free. It's an outdoorsman's paradise. The tuition is going up though, and there are a ton of natives. Some of them are cool, the drunk ones are responsible for some scars on my hand.
