I want to go plinking but I only have 80 rounds, and nobody in town has any. And everyone who does sells 0.10$ a round.

What the shit?
Where's all the .22lr?!
>>
>>29581650
Shoulda got something in 9mm/.45/.223/5.56/7.62x39/7.62x51/.40s&w.

Anons, this is why the .22s are no longer the best choice for a first rifle.
The ammo is either impossible to find or very expensive.
>>
There is no problem finding .22. Just go to a gun store instead walmart or cabelas or crap like that.
>>
>>29581699
10 CPR is still half the price of the cheapest center fire rifle ammo, faggot
>>
>>29581853
>10 cents
Lucky you.
It's around the same price as 7.62x39 he here I am unless you want to get Remington golden bullets, which don't work for shit.
>>
>>29581650
>>29581699
>>29581838
>>29581853

the days of cheap plinking are over. Like gas, it's never gonna be as cheap as it was. Move on.
>>
BB Gun
>>
>>29581860
No shit.

Just spent $120 on 6 boxes of ammo. 2 of 12 ga, 2 of 5.56, and 2 of 7.62x39.

It's only going to get worse.
>>
>>29581859
Do you not know how to use the internet? Buy in bulk and you can easily get .22 for 10CPR shipped
>>
>>
>>29581860
I'm 19. These ammo prices are normal to me. Learn to adapt and reload.
>>
>>29581699
If I drive into the same area I go to school in, I can always find a box, but that's 45 minutes each way, and from my understanding it's not exactly safe (legally or theft concerned) to bring my rifle locked in my trunk anywhere near campus, meaning it's another separate drive if I don't have a chance to get the store before they close (I almost never get off campus before 7, and by then I'm tired and starving and still have almost an hour to get home)

>>29581838
No dedicated gun store. closet we have is a Dicks.only once have I found a brick there. Pawn shop wanted 25$ for a meh tier 100rd. Fuck that.

>>29581863
Have a 1200fps break barrel pellet gun, just not the same.

>>29581853
But for that much there are so many handgun or rifle calibers I could shoot. Bought a 10/22 thinking ammo would be like it was when I was a kid, cheap and endless and even the gas station had more than they could get rid of... Should have got one of those Ruger Americans instead, but the 10/22 was so cheap and so Gud for the 100yds or less I have to fuck around in.
>>
>>29581650
And this is why I have a high speed 177 and 22cal pellet rifle.
Cheap as hell and still fairly hard hitting with the 22.
>>
>>29581878
Oh boy 4 years ago it was 4 cents a round shipped.

Can't wait for 2020 when its 25cpr!
>>
>>29581892
>reload
>rimfire

Learn to research before you talk about things.
>>
>>29581878
Wow, how convenient to get that in the 6 free hours I have this month!

You SHOW me where I can get it online and I might just try it to keep a stock. I've not seen it less than .12-15 online, pre shipping
>>
>>29581898
>>29581901
>how does basic economics work
I mean, feel free to quit buying .22 and choose a more expensive caliber if you wish.
>>
>>29581899
I WAS looking at a .17hmr, reconsidering it. Heard it flies real flat and there's always a stack of ammo right next to that dusty shelf for the .22lr
>>
>>29581905
I wasn't talking about reloading .22. But yes, you can actually. It's just not worth it to most people.
>>
>>29581929
>talks about economics
>doesn't realize the cost delta of .22 is greater than the cost delta of any other caliber.

No, the demand for .22 hasn't increased significantly higher than every other caliber by a margin of over 100%
>>
>>29581924
>the internet, how does it fucking work
http://ammoseek.com/ammo/22lr
>>
>>29581929
I actually liked that class, my professor was awesome. What I don't understand is why production is SO far behind demand that I've seen scalpers pulling .25$+ per round during the worse droughts and even always stocked stores won't let you buy more than one or two boxes
>>
>>29581924
>Wow, how convenient to get that in the 6 free hours I have this month!
>You SHOW me where I can get it online and I might just try it to keep a stock. I've not seen it less than .12-15 online, pre shipping

You're fucking retarded. I can't even find any OVER 10cpr before shipping. Maybe after shipping its 10-12cpr, but not before.
>>
>>29581938
Then I withdraw my statement.

Disregard that last post, I suck cocks.
>>
>>29581935
IMO, that's still way more expensive than I'd want for a plinking gun.
I'd sooner jump up to anything that fires steel case centerfire ammo if I'm spending near 20c/r anyway.
>>
>>29581650
wtf is plinking
>>
>>29581945
>are people willing to pay it
>yes
>are we making enough per round to justify the loss of potential consumers at the current price
>yes
>then keep the current price
It's that simple. If they could make more at a lower price point they would lower the price
>>
>>29581976
Target shooting, usually in a rural area, using whatever the fuck is lying around or spinner/resetting targets
>>
>>29581967
I just checked that ammo seek sight.

Yeah, that's WAY lower than last time I looked...
I guess it's worth the NSA/FBI/NWO knowing what I jerk off to...
>>
>>29581924
Well, I feel like spoonfeeding you even though you are clearly retarded.
>go to ammoseek.com
>search ammo-rimfire-22lr
>auto sorts by lowest CPR
>oh boy, they have Federal Automatch for 6.8cpr at Natchez!
>click it, it takes you straight to the order page
>add 2 boxes (650 rounds), the limit per day
>tab back over to ammoseek
>natchez also has other stuff you may want
>add whatever else you want (they have a decent deal on CCI Quiet)
>check out
>ammo for around $0.08 per round shipped
>>
>>29581997
22 has been at or under 10cpr shipped for over 2 years via that site. So you are either lying or legitimately retarded.
>>
>>29582052
I already retracted that statement.
>>29581997

>>29582070
I swear to you it wasn't when I checked it after buying my first .22, but I'll grant you that was quite a while back, thinking now it might have been right around one of those random shootings the news likes to hype up. It was so high when I checked it I didn't bother checking again.
>>
>>29581938
I was going to say, the place where I learned to shoot was OCD about collecting .22LR brass because one of them had a reloading operation...
>>
>>29582131
from what I understand, it can be profitable but only if you are reloading extremely high quantities.
>>
>>29581650
Why are people so inept to buying ammo online? Thats literally the only place I buy ammo because the deals are always better. And the 22 is plentiful, I have over 5k rounds. You can actually buy 5k bricks for less than 450
