We need a shotgun thread Goddamnit.
This is a 20 gauge Winchester 1300 with a 26 inch barrel. It's my bird gun.
I recently bought an early Browning Auto 5 from a guy for $400 it's in good shape and from the serial number it looks like it's from 1932. Anyone know what it's worth?
>>29574931
$400
I'm actually looking to upgrade from my Winchester. It's a damn fine bird gun, but for competition and fun at the range, not so much
My wishlist
>pump action
>7 or 8 shot tube
>smooth stroke
>bead sight, but either with a vent rig or just elevated base so it isn't a "belly button gun"
>heat shield
There's a lot of mossberg 500/590 configs that would match this, but they only have ghost rings or belly button beads. So either sell me ghost rings or point me somewhere else.
>>29574931
You got it for about the right price, if the condition is OK. '32 is a nice year.
I need to take a picture of my scattergats. So far I've got:
>4 Mossberg 500's
>Nobel 60
>Stevens 5100
>Remington Model 10
Still salty that those 1887 repops aren't being made anymore. Maybe those Adlers will start coming stateside.
>>29575025
I've used ghost rings more than once, they're pretty nice. There's always the hardmode route--buy a base model 500 and tack on the pieces you want.
Otherwise I'd reccomend the 870, but all the bullshit memes aside, I just can't trust them. I've heard too many Remington horror stories to try them. If you're not above a used gun, go find an older Police Magnum and deck it out.
i never shoot my shotgun, i kinda want to sell it
i need to set the drop and cast on this thing, i constantly shoot high.
>>29575409
What do you have and where do you live? Shame on you for not getting that scattergat fever.
>>29575421
Is that one of those turk pumps?
>>29575429
mossman 500 and WA. i bought it to duck hunt but that fell through
>>29575443
motherfucking supernova, you philistine.
Shotguns are fun
I got an Ithaca and two really old double barrel shotguns. Ithaca is the fucking best imo, but haven't really touched the double barrels yet since I want a gunsmith to take a look at them.
>>29575631
Take and post pics. /k/'s scattergat surgeons love pictures.
>>29575448
You can hawk that for about 225 for a quick sale (be ready for an endless fudstream of "I REMEMBER IN DA SEBENTEES WHEN YEW CUD BAI DAT DERE MOOSSBERG FER NAHNTAH-NAHN DALLERS")
Or, just load it with 00 buck for around the house. Mossberg has a shitload of extras.
>>29575403
People tell me "I won't be as quick" with ghost rings. But how much difference is there really?
>>29575838
Honestly? Not very much. If you practice with it, you'll never see the difference.
Do you guys prefer Skeet, Trap, or Sport shooting?
I'm a Skeet person myself.
To lazy to take a pic of mine, but I use a Yildiz SPZME for trap. As much as I hate turkshit, I've outshot people with Ruger Red Labels, so the turks are doing something right when making these.
>>29575699
I'm feelin lazy so I'll just post my arsenal pic.
muh vepr
>>29575838
minor
really minor
though it depends if the stock fits you or not
in terms of speed
stock fits you like a glove very fast with a bead pretty much a natural motion> stock is meh fit but youve learned how to shoot it with a bead> ghostrings> stock fits you horribly and you have to contort yourself to the gun sucks to be you
ghost rings is as slow as aquiring a sight picture with irons on a rifle its not that slow but it is slow lining up two things compared to point and shoot
>>29576167
it just seems weird. with a bead, like a grew up with, i focus on the target, like a red dot. but with rifle sights, you focus on the front sight.
>>29575025
idk go with a Benelli supernova and get a magazine extension.
>>29577039
I looked at it, but there's a couple things bothering me
>weight
>oversized parts
>unergonomic saftey and and action release
>3 1/2 inch shells are not something I buy
>expensive
I know that last parts #poorfag problems, but after spending money finishing pic related, wanting a new optic for the AR, a new rail and scope rings for the 10/22, and needing to buy a pistol, my budget gets tied up quick. Spending $300 on a mossberg 500/590 verus $450 on a supernova means I have more money to spend on ammo.
If the supernova truely blows every other pumo gun out of the water, then I'll pony up. But at $459-$500, we're creeping into semiautomatic prices. Mossberg 930s are like $600-$700
>>29577238
PSA has a sale on tactical mossman 930 shotguns for 620 I think
>>29577281
And while that's nice, and I know that while cheap, mossberg 930s aren't terrible just high maintenance, I want a pump for the fun factor and the reliability. I read a lot of articles complaining about almost all semis being finicky with their ammo. Plus, given how low the cyclic rate is on alot of these shotguns, my pump stroke isnt dramatically slower.
>>29577238
a 590 costs more than a supernova
Is there any reason to get an Ithaca 37 defense over a Mossberg 590?
>>29577623
If you're just using it for home defense, probably not. A mossberg will make any asshole just as dead as an Ithaca can. That being said, I would definitely advise getting an Ithaca as well. I have an old 37 and I love it to death, great for both hunting and skeet shooting. Problem with mine is that it's too old so I cant buy extra barrels., but if you get a new one, you'll be able to swap between barrels.
>>29574910
Stoeger M2000 12ga
also have a Remington 1100, but looking to sell/trade it.
This impulse purchase is in the mail to my FFL. Had me at heat shield desu.
RIA M5, a Filipino copy of an old High Standard model.
My 1300 12ga I got for $225 at cabelas. Came with the first series winchokes in improved cyl, mod and full. Sucker has a damn long barrel
Has anyone ever bought/made a retro riot gun?
I'm thinking about buying a Savage or Remington Auto-5 clone, putting an eight shot tube on it, and covering that with a full length wooden stock. Basically I want to recreate pic related, which is a FN auto-5 sold to South Africa's police back in the day.
I know its stupid, heavy, and comparable to a mag fed shotgun, but I also like wood furniture on ARs and sub guns, so there's that.
>>29577396
Shit man, my 930 JM Pro runs awesome.
It feeds everything I've put through it and it's been reliable after 100+ shells through it
>>29579143
I always feel if you're going to go tube mag, then you should go pumpaction. Really get all the benefits of the traditional layout. And the 97 had trench and riot variants. I think the model 12 too.
I would like a pumpaction removable boxmagfed that was reliable though.
>>29579143
pretty fucking awesome.
I want to chop down a browning 2000 so I can pretend to be space cop Sean Connery
Should I?

>>29574910
Going to buy my first shotgun this week guys. It'll be a mossberg 590a1 or 590. Whichever the store has. Any of you fellas have any pros or cons to these ones or any other recommendations?
>>29579211
I have this aftermarket stock I'm looking to get rid of though, if anyone's interested
>>29579219
Pros:
>metal trigger group
Cons:

>??
>>29574910
How come you can only buy new production Ithaca 37s online? Why don't stores stock new ones?
>>29579223
Lol thanks brotha
>>29579261
I love my 500 and have had 0 issues with the plastic trigger group, but I do wish it was metal.
Enjoy your new gat
>>29575443
>Benelli mustard race
>Is that a kebab gun?
You take that back
>>29579219
590's are good either way. I have one and love it. I managed to grab one with that $300 inforce light integrated pump grip for only $50 over the normal price of one without.
>>29575409
You said you were in WA. What shotgun, how much, where at in WA? Any where near Olympia, or not to long of a drove, I might be interested.
>>29575855
Is shooting your skeet to traps a sport?
>>29579964
Only if they resist
>>29576045
I'm in Burien, how much you looking to sell your long ass shotgun for?
20 gauge bird gun OP again, lets talk barrel length.
I'm trying to do 2 things with my shotgun: home defense, and 3 gun style shooting. what barrel length would be the happiest medium? 20 inch, 22 inch, or 24 inch?
Went to the gunstore today. I'm no longer worried about mossberg beads. They're elevated enough to not be a problem. And heatshields are fucking wizard. I nearly walked out with a heatshielded 18.5 6 shot mossberg 500 except I didn't know if $350 was a good price and I really want a 20 inch 8 shot
>>29582627
$350 is about the going price, but you should be able to barter down a little. For the home, an 8 shot is pretty good, but if you're going to have a 5 shot, just buy one of those package deals Mossberg is always shucking (combo 24" and 18.5" barrel with a pistol grip thrown in).
>>29584918
Are you just trying to rake in the (you) or something? I don't understand. I don't understand how "you are incorrect" is an answer to half of these questions.
Op again, went to another gun store
Benelli nova $412
Older used Remington 1100 $400
Benelli m4 $1800
>>29579143
I want to combine that idea with the banditgun
I don't know what the markings on this old 2+1 12ga I inherited mean (babby's first shotgun). It says "12ga 3 Full". Does the 3 stand for 3in, or for the capacity?
What would be better for HD? An 18in Mossberg 500, or one of these deliciously sexual Pumas?
>>29574910
>>29586629
12 gauge, accepts up to 3 inch shells, full choke
>>29586730
Thank you, Anon. Does that mean 2/34in shells are safe?
>just got pic related
>first shotgun ever.
>going shooting on weekend
aghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh why isnt it the weekenddddddddddddd.
team mossberg reporting
>>29587692
Lookin good.
Any opinions on the M5? Bought some raffle tix to win one.
>>29587665
Congrats! M4's are incredible. I put a field stock in mine. Hoping to add a light at some point as well but don't need it too soon. I take it this isn't your first gun though? I shot slugs at 25yards and they touched, which I thought was pretty good.
Not my pic, just love m4's.
anyone else here got a stoeger? i have a m3000 in camo and love mine
>>29579964
That picture is very sexual in nature
Does anyone have experience with IAC's repro trench guns? I really want one considering the rustic sex appeal they have and the fact that they're only more or less $400, plus slam firing is nice, I just worry Norinco's fit and finish may not be the best. I'm way too poor for an original unfortunately

Nogunz here.
I want to buy an 870 as my first gun, what's all the memes surrounding it?
Am I better off buying a Mossberg 500? They're similar prices in my country's main online vendor
>>29574910
My Winny 1300 speed pump 20ga put a tube extension on it so it holds 11 now.
What does it mean when a shotgun is a "takedown"?
Too lazy to take a pic but I have:
A mossberg 500
Mossberg 590 bullpup
Remington 870 with field and slug barrels
Savage 24v 30-30 & 20 ga combo
2 Rossi matched pairs with 22 & 410 barrels
And a 410 snake charmer
>>29591449
Oh fuck...I also have a Winchester 1897 and a Stevens 520 and a Remington model 62
>>29591416
Means it can be easily split in two for easier stowage / carrying.

>I've outshot people with Ruger Red Labels
That's not an impressive claim. While I like Rugers the Red Labels are pretty shit shotguns. The originals were heavy AF and were prone to failure. The newer ones were still heavy, plagued with issues and Ruger silently halted production on them after a year.
That being said, I have heard good things about the Turkshit shotties, but you need a better claim than outshooting a notoriously crap O/U.
>TFW no Winchester 1887
But I do have an Winchester 1897, Ithaca 37 and Beretta 1301.
Although the 1887 really isn't practical for anything other than blasting. I have been thinking about getting a good O/U, probably Beretta, and doing some skeet shooting and bird hunting.
>>29593969
Oops, forgot pic of glorious 1887...
Super vinci master race
>>29593969
>Beretta 1301
I've seen a lot of love for this in "tactical" circles, in more than one case replacing the custom 870 in some old timer's HD arsenal. What makes it so special compared to other auto shotguns?
>>29594963
>What makes it so special compared to other auto shotguns?
All around good shotgun
Not a Benelli M4 (which Beretta owns anyway, but whatever, not my argument)
Fastest cyclic rate among auto shotguns (probably the biggest attraction, especially among competitors)
In all honestly I have very little experience with any other auto shotgun, much less anything modern like an M2 or M4 or tactical versions of the Mossy or Remmy offerings. But I like mine plenty. I've only used it for some blasting and clay shooting on my friend's land, I don't do competition and I don't hunt with it, but I very well could.
>>29592466
Gorgeous gun. I have a 1907 manufacture 1897 that was my great grandfather's horse and tractor gun. 30 inch barrel, looks similar to yours, well used and cared for.
Why can't I find a new 590A1 anywhere, either locally or online?
Is it because election year chicanery, or just manufacture lead times? Online retailers not even taking back orders, which tells me there's no supply.
>>29595274
Buds has one.
Gunwatcher is your friend.
>>29595274
So aside from CoD fans wanting the same exact gun the military uses, why would anyone pay more for the heavier barrel and metal(NOT steel - metal) FCG of the A1? The polymer trigger group of the 500 and 590 are perfectly functional, and can be replaced later if wanted anyway. Ditto the safety button.
>>29595569
Parkerized finish. You can say Mossberg offers parked barrels which I could throw into a 500, and I've looked at doing that--you end up paying more for less gun than just getting a 590 from the start.
.22 on top
.410 on bottom
>>29576045

>>29574910
My stevens 320.
Too lazy to take a pic of mine.
This is the exact one I have.
>fagpul
Yes I like magpul.
I just love how ergonomic the Mossberg is. Safety, slide release, and trigger control all with one hand.
Plus no one really mentions but Mossberg pumps don't have that shupid shell shield thing that all other shotguns have. I hate snagging my thumb loading a shell with an 870.
