Are gorkas waterproofed? They look like they're made out of a canvas-y material.
It would be disappointing if they aren't but I guess it would make sense if Russian winters are dry.

Some are, some are only on some areas, and some aren't 'waterproofed' as such but the canvas is so thick that it'll still stand up to maybe half an hour of average rain without getting you wet.

I might disagree with that. My experience is that the cotton canvas gets really easily wet, it might not go through so fast, but it soaks water like hell. I've decided to impregnate my gorka with water repellant spray, or try the cotton wax.

Gorka is GOAT. I have a SPLAV and it'll keep light rain off, but not a downpour. You can water proof them with some scotchguard. They're the comfiest piece of gear I own and I wear the pants everywhere.
