How reliable are PPKs? Pretty much every 380 I've ever fired

How reliable are PPKs? Pretty much every 380 I've ever fired was a jam-o-matic piece of shit, but I've never really fucked with Walthers.
I just want a good steel pocket .380.
I however can not find any online retailers selling these fuckers anywhere, I've checked slickguns and a few other sites and everything either shows expired, or no longer available.
>>
>>29560949
If you want a good steel .380, Colt makes the Mustang Pocketlite. That's what I carry.
>>
>>29560949
they are great. But you need to buy them at shows and shops

the bersa thunder is a south american copy of it that you can buy new.

but its has south american quality.
>>
>>29560949
Sig p232 master race here never had a single FTE or FTF. The CZ-83 is a great all steel .380 as well as the Colt Mustang. The CZ-83 is a bit too bulky for pocket carry though but hands down the most accurate .380 I have ever owned. But, I carry the sig p232 for EDC

My P64 (basically a polish copy in 9mm makarov) has never once had a jam that wasn't operator error.
>>
>>29561002
>>29561053
I will look into these, thank you.
>>29561025
Why do they need to be bought at shows?
I owned a bersa for two months, the extractor snapped, and never got through a single mag without malfunctions even after 500 rounds
>>
>>29561088
What's the ammo selection like for 9x18, defensive round-wise?
>>
>>29561140
I know there are a few brands, but I've been too cheap to try any.
>>
Get a commercial Russian Makarov in .380 and replace the rear sight with a fixed sight.

You will have the stupidest reliable .380 you can possible get.

Is there a sexier pistol than the PPK/S?
>>
>>29561344
Yup. There were a handful of Baikal maks chambered in .380 and imported. 9 times out of 10 they have those fuckhueg adjustable sights.

Seconding that CZ-83. It's super comfy for IWB carry. PROTIP, get some aftermarket wood grips and make sure they're thin, the stock plastic grips are bulky and look uggo.

It's a blowback .380, pretty difficult to fuck up desu.

>>29561025
The quality on the Bersa isn't mindblowing, but I think it's acceptable for the price.
Also they make a double-stacked one, which is rad.

>>29561344
Makarovs have been made in .380 for ages, and it made sense early on with how surplus ammo wasn't always available.
Also it's a really easy conversion to make.

>>29561738
Fuck off Blofeldt, you cunt.

>>29561855
Great choice, though I personally fancy the 84 for that extra round and for that better power.
>>
I've never heard of any problems with them.
>>
>>29560949
Have one I carried for a few years. Can't remember it every having a problem. Good lil gun just a .380
>>
>>29561842
Is that what you will tell the mugger when your shots don't penetrate his jacket and he knifes you 20 times and rapes you.
>>
>>29560949
The Beretta Cheetah may be too big, but if not I recommend it. It's very reliable and one of the most pleasant shooting pistols ever.
>>
The .32 is much more fun to shoot than the .380, but I'd rather carry the .380.
>>
>>29561140
Shitty. Really shitty. You're pretty much limited to shitty Hornady Critical Defense rounds and generic Nosler hollow points.

Have a Bersa Thunder. Carried it for over a decade and haven't had any major issues with it. Replaced it last year with a SIG P238. I would recommend either one.

my precious. I shoot my neighbor's from time to time. love it.

i really fucking want one but according to everything i've read it's like 25 oz when fully loaded. I don't understand how that's even possible with such a tiny gun.
>>
>>29560949
Bersa Thunder.
The only problem i've ever experienced was when a particular girl was shooting it. It would jam at least once per mag with her. She would limp wrist that gun like a motherfucker.

You should get one, they're still making them.

I love the fact that there's a slightly modestly sized pistol that holds a generous amount of "pocket pistol" rounds like that.
With something like Lehighs loaded you'd probably have a pretty good carry piece.

They make those under license somewhere not by Beretta anymore.

But what is more cool is they are rotating barrel right?

or am i thinking of something else?

Neat little gun, pretty simple too
Ive had issues with it not completing the cycle. Particularly when it gets dirty after about 100+ rounds.

>>
>>29567783
How is penetration with hard cast bullets?
>>
>>29567791
Through naked ballistics gel they tend to over penetrate. It is a claimed +p after all. I prefer to have it over penetrate and have to be careful about what's behind an attacker than to carry a hollow point that will lose so much energy through a jacket that it doesn't have much effect.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O3b3ZGmZuT0

In the summer, when everyone is wearing light clothes, I tend to back down from the +p.

In my informal ballistics tests I've found the opposite to be true.

I've caught .45 and .40 HST, Gold Dot, and Winchester jhp in the third milk jug full of water. Nicely expanded etc etc.

Every .380 jhp has gone thru 4 milk jugs and been dug out of the gravel behind. Unexpanded, undeformed.

I think it's because the short barrel doesn't give it enough velocity to expand. Over penetrating lil motherfucker.

Pic related.

.25acp, 7.62 nagant, .380 PMC Starfire, assorted Gold Dot, and HST .40 and an FMJ .45. Also included a 7.62 x 39 and 5,56 for reference.
>>
>>29567827
Have you considered Lehigh XP? It penetrates 16-19" (bare gel) and leaves a nice wound track deep into the gel.

>>29568158
I've tried it and the bullet shape caused feed issues in my P238. Might just be mine. Might just be that one box. But can't trust something that doesn't work 100% of the time.
>>
>>29568182
Fair enough
>>
>>29568199
My Bersa Thunder fired it all day without a single issue. Then again I have yet to find something it won't shoot reliably.

I tend to test out as many different brands as I can find when I get a new firearm to see what will and will not work.

I had one back in the 90s. I traded it off. Couldn't hit anything with it, and the trigger pull was way too heavy. As far as cool factory, and outfitting it with a can, I'd suck a dick to have that gun back. Back then though, I cold only afford 1 or 2 guns at a time. Plus I'd rather have it in .32.
