Then had the audacity to design and built guns for literal nazis used to execute civilians; and are of the mind that civilians should have no right to defend themselves from their shitty governments. There are retarded laws regarding imports using outdated language about sporting purposes. It doesn't apply to domestically produced guns but it makes getting a lot of import guns in a serious hassle.
If H&K really cared about the US market they would set up a factory in the US and make their scary black rifles here. All we ever hear is H&K apologists saying, "b-but German export laws, US import laws".

As others have said here, HK didn't hate us. In fact, before the sweeping gun control laws of the late 80's and early 90's, they were one of the #1 importer of 'salt weapons. They had so much invested in importing guns into the US, that when our gun control laws got even more retarded and essentially blocked them from importing their guns, they lost a SHIT TON of money.
When the G36/Sl8 made their debut, the US had the Clinton AWB enforced. That meant you literally couldn't import or even buy new production "assault" weapons even if they were made in the states. The fact that HK even bothered releasing the SL8 is a testament to the fact that they don't hate us and want our money, but because they're based in Germany they need to deal with the bullshit US gun laws AND the Germany gun laws as well, many of which make it a pain in the ass to export weapons.
