Apparently some of the first combat footage of the KA-52 in combat. Raises some questions:

>Where is all that long-range capability? It seems to be being used like a MI-24.
>How the hell is it getting those angles of attack? It doesn't even look to be leaning and I assume rocket pods.
>No use of flares like MI-24 has been running since late Afghanistan and in Syria (https://www.funker530.com/russian-mi-24-nearly-eats-dirt-during-close-air-support/) Does this speak for the "active" defense system / passive IR pulsers or they just "forgot"?
>lol where is the night footage?

That's what the Mi-28 is for
Ka-52 is for when you want to have fun

Makes it more accurate and less recoil. There's a gif of the Hind firing its gun and gets moved back making its shots inaccurate.

> There's a gif of the Hind firing its gun and gets moved back making its shots inaccurate.

Except you don't seem to understand what you are talking about. The gun likely DOESN'T move the helicopter back - it shakes it's mount and requires strong parts that rotate it, that's why it's a smaller caliber gun, 12.5mm iirc. Whereas the KA-52 passes all the recoil to the frame. The idea is that the KA-52 is supposed to be super maneuverable, which seems to be shown in the video, considering the angles of attack.

It's also not supposed to be right over the target, like it is. Might as well just use barrel bombs at that point.

There's been some footage of Russian Mi-28s hitting targets with their Ataka missiles using thermal imaging sights, but the missile doesn't seem to have a warhead as powerful as that of the Hellfire that I've seen.

The sensors on the Ka-52 should give it a huge advantage in hunting down sand niggers in the open, but they seem to operate them like fixed wing CAS aircraft...

What is this absolute trash that I'm reading...

Are you claiming that an automatic cannon does not have an effect on the airframe when firing?!

The Ka-50 looks far away. Just compare the size of those trees to the helicopter.

Also, dat pair of missiles that went up. All my WTFs. If they are from rocket pods, I can only assume the pilot sneezed or something.

I am saying that the gun mount on an AH-64 or an MI-24 has to handle the force of the recoil, vibrate (get pushed back), or transfer recoil to the frame through a relatively small (failure) point.

A much more powerful cannon can be attached if it doesn't have to move or transfer the energy to the frame through one point. The KA-52 uses a longer round than the Apache and (obviously) than the MI-24.

>If they are from rocket pods, I can only assume the pilot sneezed or something.

Yea, wtf is going on. Also, I don't see the nose bouncing up and down, which is what it would presumably take.

It`s rocket pods, the pilot was trying to hit that building on the far left.

The guy was clearly talking about the Mi-25P with the fixed GShK-30 cannons, which are mounted directly to the airframe and induce a rotational motion when fired in longer bursts.

1. I haven't heard of that, but I will buy it, given what the A-10 cannon does.
2. Still has the advantages listed in the post you are replying to.

That would imply all the other 20 smoke trails going down were actually going up. All to make the 2 smoke trails that were going up make sense.

Unguided weapons, fired from low altitude, aimed visually by the pilot - that's the future of CAS. Save the BRRRRRRT! Cancel the F-35! Our troops need the best.

>>
>>29549924

What's your point Horus?

>>29549953

I think they do fire missile pods at artillery angles now and again, but I agree that this wasn't the intent and shit looks random as fuck.

>>29549959

From what I understand, unguided rockets are still an order of magnitude cheaper than guided missiles from range and still much faster than equally cheap artillery.
>>
>>29548082
Coax rotors are the future. Notice it doesn't even moves when firing.
>>
>>29550009

Never heard of any Russian attempt at that. They can into guided weapons, but I am not aware of a single attempt to make their rocket pod rockets more accurate/guided.
>>
Why did the Russians decide to start using the Ka-52?
>>
>>29550025
It wouldn't anyway. Because they are rockets you dumb fuck.

It's a heavily armed "light" helo used for recon and naval duties.

How much cheaper are they when you start paying out SGLIs two at a time to 23mm and Iglas? And "sorry" money to the families of civilians that got shredded?
>>
>>29550078

Oh, I thought you were trying to say something at the same time (not being hostile, just explaining why I asked). And yea, thanks for the pictures.

Seems like none of us know what the fuck it's doing though. Someone needs to post "Where is ground, where is sky" polandball comic on the SU-something supposedly buzzing a US military ship.

I thought those were Iraqi MI28s, and the russians had only used MI24s in Syria up until now.

That's a KA-50 though.
