What's up with Russians on insisiting their rifle's stocks fold to the side?
>>
>>29538036
Allows for paratrooping and carrying innavehicle. American ARs have buffer tubes so (practically speaking) can't sidefold. That's really the only reason we don't have folding stocks.

if it folded the otherway it would hit the charging handle and block the safety
wire stocks being the exception
>>
>>29538053
Sidefolders are also easier to carry slung. The shorter length makes it a lot more comfortable.

holy fuck that looks uncomfortable
>>
>>29538115
Actually, it'd probably be ok, depending on what angle the stock folds at.
>>
Is there any play in the folding stocks when they are locked in place?
>>
>>29538898
The ones on arsenals, no.
>>
>>29538982
Nice, that was actually what I was looking at. Are the arsenal 5.56 AK's decent? Cartridge argument aside.
>>
>>29538036
They already did underfolding with their AK's and AKM's, which was found to be wanting. Sidefolders are sturdier and easier to actuate.

easier to carry, stow, navigate in tight quarters, doesnt require that much extra work to produce.

also looks cool
>>
You can side fold the AR too. Look up the law folding stock adapter. You can't fire it while folded, obviously, but I don't see why you would fire any weapon like that with the stock folded.

Dug into the dirt is still to this day the safest place to be in a firefight. It may not be the Somme but a foxhole will always be a battlefield necessity.

Also from any other tight quarters like craw spaces, tunnels, bunkers.
>>
>>29538105
whats the purpose of the AMD65s existence? What makes it different from any other AKM variant?
>>
>>29538036
The entire soviet doctrine to counter NATO was nuke and chemical strikes. They planned on rolling in CBRN gear inside of IFVs/tanks and would only disembark when resistance to the offensive was met.
>>
>>29539721
To make a firearm as clumsy and awkward looking as possible I assume. Mad reversed forward grip, crazy noodle stock, wackyness.
>>
>>29538036
Because the safety is on the left side and you cant engage it while it's folded.

I can't say but I've held a few 5.56 arsenals but never shot them. Apparently the 106"CR" specifically had problems so they discontinued it. I'm pretty sure they discontinued the 106 (5.56) line years ago.

I'd say go for it, 5.56 ak's aren't really my cup of tea but the translucent magazines and the thought of using a large variety of loads like black hills and hornady tap out of an ak had me interested.

Be warned, magazines are expensive for them.

My 106-FR has been nothing but reliable, but mags are not cheap at $40-45 a piece for ((10)).

I wanted 5.45 but its getting more scarce and more expensive so I went with 5.56. Arsenal did discontinue the entire 106 line, but you can still find them from kvar. I bought mine from tombstone tactical tho, because kvar's shipping times are atrocious, they have sent me the wrong parts, and they can be a pain in the ass about returns.

>tfw you've spent $360 on 8 magazines

Thanks man, appreciate you taking the time, I'm pretty new to the whole black rifle game, mostly into mil-surp, so thank you for giving me something to think about.
>>
>>29539721
Its for mechanized troops and officers. They look better with the barrel length they came with. Think of it as a pdw for 0-200 meters

>>29539853
I'm not an American but i was googling these rifles, something is curious to me, why is the AK-102 version of this rifle has an extended barrel (same length as the 101 they also sell)?

Is there some legal thing going on there, and if so, why can you still buy the little carbine style Krinkov with a tiny barrel?

no problemo, if you want, take a look at arfcom's equipment exhange. You can occasionally find good deals on 5.56 ak's. Just skimming through, I found a decent deal

>What is the war in Donbass
Ukraine could not use any heavy airdropped ordinance due to heavy SAM coverage and the Rebles could not get airsupport from Russia because then they could no longer use confusing arguments to deny that Russia is supporting the DNR. Even though that conflict had two sides that had unleashed the largest amount of artillery since the Gulf Wars, trenches were very much useful there .

You need to do the paperwork for that one because it's already an sbr.
>>
>>29539951
Need to pay a $200 tax stamp and register it as a Short Barrel Rifle, coz stupid reasons, then you can cut the barrel down.
>>
>>29539724

That sounds like a good doctrine.

We counter ants and roaches with chemical sprays
And we counter cancers with radiation treatment
So why would NATO be any different

The magazine issue is unfortunately expensive.

Especially depressing since AR mags are 1/4 the price of bulgy 5.56 mags

>$1300 worth of gun and mags + AKT

>used rifle

why not just buy one new and decide what gear you want later? I'll never understand why people think they'll get MSRP for used guns and gear.

>SLR 106 - $1000
>8 ((10)) - $360
>AKT - $50

total $1410
>>
>>29539951
For us Americans, it has to do with the National Firearms Act. You see, in the US, any rifle with a barrel under 16" is considered a "Short Barreled Rifle" and is restricted under the National Firearms Act, or NFA.

To own an NFA item, such as the aforementioned "Short Barreled Rifle", or SBR, you need to fill out a proper form and pay a $200 tax stamp. The process usually takes a couple months to complete and when you get your tax stamp form back in the mail, you can purchase the item.

So the reason you can't buy the proper SLR-106 that you posted is because the barrel is under the 16" requirement, whereas the one with the longer barrel posted above you meets the 16" requirement. To purchase the rifle you posted you would need to fill out and submit the form and payment then wait for the tax stamp form to come back to you before you could buy it.

Make sense?

Hmm, so then is this barrel that's available for the 102 clone legal but you need to fill out the paperwork? Thanks for taking the time to inform me guys.
>>
>>29540027
Haha, well it makes sense, sure seems like your government is fucking around wasting a lot of time for pretty arbitrary reasons.
>>
>>29540055
You aren't wrong. The NFA was originally introduced to curb "organized crime" violence and really made no difference at all.

Here in Aus we have a mad barrel restriction thing too, Luger and P38 are conversel illegal and legal to shoot because the Luger is under 120mm and the P38 over, despite them being literally identical length pistols. Governments all over seem to just enjoy making up mad firearm rules.
