.45 acp is objectively inferior to 9mm solely due to fact 9mm breaks apart and mushrooms in the body whilst 45 tends to stay intact. The wound channels are roughly the same but why carry a bigger and heavier round than you need? 9mm allows you to carry more ammo and suffer less recoil for follow up shots.

9mm doesn't break apart, it mushrooms though. Link a video of a widely accepted 9mm defense round that is in use by military/LEO that fragments.
45 objectively will do more damage to a human body, so if you can shoot just as good with it as 9mm (which most people who work out can) then the only issue is capacity, which is solved by carrying a USP 45 (12+1).
All this is irrelevant if you just go with 10mm though

Mushrooming isn't a magical property of a caliber, it's what type of bullet you use. You can get .45 HST rounds and guess what? They fuck shit up even more than 9mm HST.
