what do you guys think about pistol caliber carbines? i was thinking of buying the JR carbine but the whole no 10mm thing is a real turnoff

the Aero survival rifle looks promising but the one big minus is its not compatible with aftermarket AR triggers
>>
why not just get a rifle
>>
I think they deserve WAY more attention in the civilian market then they get. With a rifle-length barrel, you get some serious ballistic performance out of pistol calibers; they're much easier to suppress than rifles, as well as having less chance of collateral damage if used in urban areas.

Honestly I have no idea why they aren't more popular in the states, other than our retarded SBR laws.
>>
>>29522108
i like caliber conversion and being able to load the same mags for pistol and carbine
idk i just like being able to change shit.
if im poor ill shoot 9mm
if i want to shoot small or mid game 10mm
home defence .45
only have spare .40 laying around ok cool
347 s&w
>wanting to shoot sort and weak ever

i love how modular the AR is but i hate being stuck with just 1 round and needing so much magazines for 2 weapons
>>
i would love to see a pcc with
>a large array of caliber choice (like the ASR)
>using glock mags(there the most widely used and come in alot of calibers)
>uses aftermarket AR stock, trigger groups and pistol grips
>changeable mag release, ejection port AND charging handle
>takedown but still able to mount some things up front (obviously nothing that needs to be very stable but something like a forward grip or flashlight would be nice
> bolt carrier group rear shaped like an AR bolt carrier so i can fit the law tactical folding AR stock

why must this world be so cruel
>>
>>29522204
>buy AR lower
>buy PCC glock mag upper
>buy magwell adapter for caliber of your choice
>use all AR parts
>>
>>29522477
Or you could get one of those pcc uppers compatible with grease gun or sten gun Mag's or possibly pps43 mags
>>
>>29522103
I think they have limited practical uses when compared to 5.56 or .300blk ARs but Quarter Circle 10 has an awesome AR that eats from glock mags.
>>
>>29522126
Honestly I don't know either. Shooting .40S&W at 100 yards out of my CX4 is a lot of fun.

>>29522108
But it is a rifle.

>>29522716
I guess "fun" isn't a practical use to some people.
>>
>>29522731
5.56 makes a bigger fireball. Thus, it's more fun and more practical.
>>
>whole no 10mm thing is a real turnoff

No, no it's not. I love PCCs and Im a rabid 10mm fanboy, but blow back 10mm PCCs are a great way to throw rifle cartridge money at pistol cartridge speeds. You can nothing ballistically. If it bothers you that much, find something in .45auto, throw a box of .45 super through it and go back to playing with .45auto. One of the attractions of PCCs is the price or ammo, availability and mag commonality. Why throw that out the window. I ask this as a guy that normally buys guns on a got it cause I like it basis. Unless you plan on buy the 10mm Vector or building a very niche AR just stop letting performed opinions steer you away from other options
>>
I think they are a really cool and a nice middle ground
>>
>>29522763
During all the ammo panics I've had no issues finding .40S&W. One of the reasons I went with it. Also, 180 grain .40S&W is already subsonic so when I get my suppressor I won't have a hard time finding subsonic ammo. Can get the 180 grain at Walmart.

True, a .40 doesn't quiet down as much as a 9mm or a .45.

>>29522777
They are. They can also be useful for teaching people to shoot because they tend to have lower recoil and aren't as loud. Also:
>nice full house
>>
>>29522731
Fun is subjective. PCC practicality is usually quantifiable in a real sense, like ammo compatibility, lower recoil and suppressor use.

That being said, they are fun as shit. Maybe not HOLY SHIT ALIENS practical, but good for newbies and indoor use.

Is that Cologne? What the fuck
>>
>>29522204
Why in the fuck would you want an AR bolt carrier if you want a folding stock? Just make it pistol like the sig AR. That law tactical is like $250 for a fucking hinge.
>>
>>29522895
noice. whats the gun on the second from right?
>>
>>29522766
10mm roller delayed blow back for the win? Idk saw an mp5 and ar in 10mm with a weird suppressor run well and I love the idea of sharing mags with a glock 20 for police duty. Something about just needing to grab a rifle instead of a go bag or whatever for an active shooter sounds nice. Not that hot 9mm doesn't work great out a long barrel. I just like the idea of 10mm vs cheap body armor ruining some assholes day.

They're kindof "why" tier when I can shoot FAR more fun calibers for the same dollars.
Pistol calibers are weaksauce and boring.

>>
Objectively inferior but very fun.
>>
>>29523235
If you already have a good collection, I don't see why not just to try it.
I know if I had a intermediate AR/AK and also a pistol caliber gun, the pistol caliber would only leave the safe for the first few weeks while the "new gun" feel wore off.
>>
>>29523077
>the idea of 10mm
Thats about all it is,An idea. Unless you have access to a ton of 10mm(and mags) like department issue or a reloading setup it offers nothing over a 9mm PCC or regular carbine in cost or effectiveness. I was in love with the idea for the longest time myself. The 7.62x25 toks we're cool as shit in their day but ammo was super cheap and they we're actually gas operated.
>>
>>29522126
I think that's exactly it, retarded sbr laws.
>>
I don't know much about it, but this thing makes my Pee-Pee feel good.
>>
>>29523345
That's a pistol caliber pistol.. still makes me smile though
>>
>>29523378

Oh, woops. Of course, didn't notice the Sig Brace
>>
>>29523260
Thats why you use a 9x25 dillion and with a longer barrel from a carbine, you can push rounds to nicely over 2000fps.
>>
>>29523260
The sterling I have is in tokarev. I had to buy a 9mm barrel for it to make sure I don't use up all my cheap tokarev
>>
>>29523396
>that's why you build a PCC in boutique cartridge with worse ballistics and cost factor than a readily available intermediate in a cheaper carbine

Ok
>>
>>29522103
Good range toy, not much else.
Pistol rounds suck ass and are only used because pistols are small and concealable. Literally the only reason to use them.
>>
>>29523472
How'd you get a sterling?
>>
>>29522103
I have one and its alright. I bought for use with a suppressor but thing was just too damn long so I build a 9mm sbr instead. they're a bitch to clean tho.
>>
So what's the consensus on the Hi Point carbines? Cheap, fun, not too bad, and ugly as sin?

PCCs are GOAT

My Cx4 is one of the most fun guns I've ever owned.
>>
>>29524981
Bingo. The spring loaded recoils pad is kinda funny. Pretty cool for the price, especially considering the price of every other pcc
>>
>>29522103

Holy shit. Think about the destructive force of based 10mm when fired out of a pistol. Now imagine shooting that caliber out of a rifle..... you would be unstoppable...

Same as anything else really. Two companies have made them. Mine looks a little different in this shot due to the angle and the magazine. The straight mag is a tokarev converted sten mag. They cut the center out and weld in a new back.

I like mine. Put a mechtech on my glock 17 just recently. Took it to the range and shot OK groups with it. Might make a good multipurpose varmint / home defense gun since I live innawoods.

It doesn't make a lot of sense to buy a pistol just to make a carbine out of it - but I already had the handgun onhand.
>>
>>29528343
How expensive a mechtech did you get?
>>
>>29528227
JARD J67. Takes glock mags and its pretty good.
>>
I dig my vector, got the 9mm and threw a red dot on. I've been able to reach out to 100 yards pretty well.
>>
>>29528450
$900.....lol no. Looks like ass.
>>
>>29522103
>what do you guys think about pistol caliber carbines?

I think they're pretty cool. I've shot several and have wanted one for a really long time, but >>29522108
>>
>>29522204

There are now multiple companies making AR lowers that are directly compatible with Glock mags.

Most are 9mm but there are other options.
>>
>>29528410
It was right at 600 i believe; could have cut the cost a bit and passed on the red dot optic. At 25 yards, its just a red blob on the middle of the target - not terribly precise.
>>
>>29522103
mechtech in 10mm, glock 20 or 21. There you go. Supposedly with some knowhow you can setup the kriss mag extension on a 10mm mag.
>>
>>29524981
My buddy has one it's actually kind of fun to shoot. Shoots pretty well. The no hicaps thing is a real shame.
>>
>>29527936
ok fine minus a few FPS to run the gas system or w/e
still TEN MILMEEDA going blazing fast
>>
is a 10mm pcc good for hunting mid size game?

SA 26 parts kit and armorers kit is in the mail

Ill have to see how it turns out
