Are Lugers for neo nazi fags?
>>
>It's nazi so it must be bad
You know those things shot better than most pistols today? If they didn't have connotations to the nazi party they would still be major service pistols today.

Because any kind of safety is for pussies...

It's for fans of the era.

Hunter S Thompson hated Nazis, but he had a big affinity for Lugers both in this video and in his writing.

Pls, the manufacture costs and lack of manual of arms familiarity with every other pistol, as well as the single stack nature (which admittedly could be fixed) and poor controls ergonomics (safety, lack of slide release lever, accessory rail) would doom it.

That said, they are great shooters for their day, I like mine.
>>
>>29521406

Neo-Nazis maybe not, but there are a lot of fags who think they're amazing. They weren't even the best German pistol of their time.
>>
>>29521406

they're for people who either appreciate history or unusual mechanisms
>>
>>29521573

"No."

They shoot great, yes, but they're expensive to produce and very large for their capability. A Glock 19 has twice as many bullets coming out of the same size barrel in a package that's maybe half the size overall.

Plus, Lugers have all sorts of complicated machined parts that while stunningly beautiful are not nearly as economical as the stamped steel and molded plastic that make up essentially every part on a Glock 19 other than the barrel and slide. This matters because the skilled labor necessary to make a Luger is much more expensive now than it was when Lugers were actually being made. It would be impossible to make one in the price point for duty guns ($300-ish) That's actually duty quality. It also takes much longer in man-hours to make a Luger for all the reasons mentioned above.

There's a reason why almost every modern pistol uses a Browning-derived tilting barrel action, because it's compact, economical and effective.

Lugers are improved versions of the Borchardt pistol. Georg Luger was Hugo Borchardt's assistant, and unlike Borchardt, was willing to make improvements to the gun to win contracts. It's basically a generation 1.25 auto pistol.

As the first practical autopistol, it deserves its place in history and it's reputation, but technology has moved on since then.

Nazis have nothing to do with it, they were already on their way out as duty pistols when the Nazis arrived on the scene.

Also, as the first auto pistol, Lugers were already very popular in the United States when World War Two took place, which is one reason they were sought after as souvenirs.

Mostly.

They have great precision, though they are not very robust and easily break or jam... i use mine for swedish field shooting. It's a stunning pience of machinery however and i highly recommend it if you like historical weapons.

You need to remember where the Luger came from.

Oh they were. More reliable and quicker to re-load than the C96, smaller, more powerful, and more ergonomic than the C93.

>Lugers were already very popular in the United States when World War Two took place

This. The US even briefly considered the Luger as it's service pistol, only with a larger cartridge. As well all know the M1911 was the winner of the contest, with the Savage Model 1907 as a distant second.

Not to mention the pistol inspired Bill Ruger to make his iconic Ruger Standard .22LR pistol.

They probably have a hard-on for them, but a P38 or an M1914 (all my want) would be more a more apt choice for aspiring Stormfags.

Since we're on about Nazi guns, anyone else eyeing that new reproduction Stg.44?

Which one? The one that Ian-kun was covering hard for a time?

They look pretty interesting, but my cash is going toward a few other things right now.

Do you think white trash Naziboos of the trailer park can afford one?

Not sure, I don't watch FW as much as I should...

Hill & Mac Gunworks (HMG) is making one due out this summer in x39, .223, 300BLK and OG 8mm K. They did internal modifications to make the gun make more sense (HK trigger pack in place of complex original trigger and internal spring instead of one in butt stock)

Really? I thought he said it was inspired by the Nambu.
>>
>>29526488
Actually they both were, he liked how the Nambu action worked, but he liked the grip of the Luger.
>>
I'm a Jew and I love Lugers.

They are mechanically interesting firearms. Not to mention historically interesting.

naw, they're just pretty and unique
>>
>>29526191

The trigger group on the stg isn't really that complex, it just looks complex because of the washers they used to mount the pins to the sheet metal frame. Using H&K trigger packs is still a good idea from a cost control standpoint though.

They're firearms. Completely incapable of political opinion or thoughts. Can't hate, can't discriminate. They are just fine examples of the engineering and manufacturing capabilities of the time and place they were invented.
