We live in an area populated by whites and Asians, but we get a lot of coon coons because we're right next to the boonies. Pic related a few years back chased one through the back yard, and was standing on this thing of 2×4s that were on their side above our grill area and was staring down at the neighbors yard where the coon jumped over the fence and into. On a side note at the time he was about 93lbs and the thing he was standing on was a good 8ft in the air.

Shepherd huskie mix and a mountain cur. Love em both to death and wouldn't trade them for the world. I actually prefer the mix over a straight shepherd. Every one I've met has the same goofy yet intelligent as fuck demeanor. Plus they're really fucking protective of women and children. The mountain cur is no slouch either. She'll hunt anything you train her to and was bred to fight black bear and boar. Will also fight to the death to protect her pack and is also protective of children. When these two get mad, (which is rare and deserving) it's pretty hard to control.

My ex fiancé loved Irish Wolfhounds. We got one. It was the second best dog I ever had next to my childhood German Shepherd named Thor. I loved that dog and it loved me. It was gentle and loving to our son. Our son loved him, it lived our son.
When our son was learning to walk, the dog would carefully walk behind him, propping him up when he stumbled, and often caught him and lifted him back up to his feet when about to fall. When my son got cold and shivered, here comes this beast of a dog, to lay close to him and keep him warm. Such a large, powerful dog showed so much love for my family, and especially my kid. He showed more love than many people I encountered.
Even when my son was ornery, he showed patience. Matthew would tug at his tail and he would not yelp, merely nuzzle him. Matthew would pull his ears, and he would not growl, merely lick his face. He was a member of our family, my family. Almost like a third parent, this dog somehow made me feel more confident in my parenting, and more secure with the choices I made with my son.
When my fiancé left to move in with her new hot shot boy toy, taking not only my dog, but my son as well, I was devastated. I was also devastated, but swelled with pride when Bel, the dog, was put down because he mauled my ex's boyfriend when he beat my son.
Today, I live alone with my son, and have only fond memories of Bel, and no dog could ever replace him. For that reason I will never have another Irish Wolfhound.
For those of you still reading, I appreciate you taking the time to read my story, it means quite a bit. I don't talk about it often.

Dogs are a lot like soldiers; each one is good at a specific task. I personally would like a Badgerdog for tracking/scouting tight spaces, a German Shepard for a guard-dog and a Weimaraner, or Poodle in a fight. Let me preface this by saying the only time I ever saw Bel angry was when we were just getting together, we lived in a predominantly Hispanic working class neighborhood, I was a rookie police officer and my girlfriend was a barista at a local coffee joint.
He wasn't even a year old when some spic jumped the fence and tried to break in. Bel immediately went into a fury and pounced on the dude, and ended up biting his finger clean off. This was when I knew Bel was going to be the best fucking dog in the world.

At this point I start really prodding because I can tell he is so upset, something is definitely wrong, I mean, the only time I'd ever seen him attack someone was when a Mexican tried to break in.

Didn't believe it for a long time but my 12 year old pup was much better after listening to my crazy ex and getting pupppers better food (blue buffalo I think but anything not shit helps)
