I think its time for a movie thread! What are the best fight scenes that show both realism and proper techniques or tactics?

I'll start with this duel where scottish qui gon jinn uses a hilt sword to fight some fairy with a rapier

This whole episode of some canadian cop drama is the story of a school shooting. Shows very cool cop tactics with actors who do a good job of showing how much pressure a person is under in during that kind of stress.

That looks more like a foil.

And the reason fencing fights look "fairy" to you is, they are usually lethal at the first touch. Or injure so much that the other guy can be walked away from, like in the movie.

Why the hell do you think musketeers replaced longswordsmen?

But still, this is my favorite movie fight:

Action starts at around 7 minutes and continues for most of the show

I dunno about tactics, but The Raid is pretty much ultraviolence porn set to as much realism as film can hold

The car/bike chase in first blood (rambo), in particular.
Honestly, Rambo 1 has some of the best camera work I have seen in a movie. All the film techniques and tactics were 10/10.

The final battle in the new rambo is pretty gorgeous as far as battles go. You get to see what ordinance does to human flesh, a civvie beat a Charlie to death with a rock, cover-based shooting and at least a hundred corpses

It was my understanding that most duels with rapiers ended with both persons severely injured or dead because they kill so slowly that both combatants mortally wound each other before the fight ends.

I mean if you get impaled by that thing your opponent has his sword in your gut so you are free to slash away or stab him before you die.

More likely that you'll have a clear winner with a sword and shield

You may have misheard based on training injuries, that come from fucking around with large pointy sticks; like the Blofeld facial scar.

When I fenced, they explained that this is why the rounds went until first contact: A single penetrating wound was so aggravating, that you may as well restart the duel with one person only using one leg. They're effectively dead.

You're completely wrong about the "sword in your gut" part. It's a half inch wide razor sharp blade that extends almost six feet from your body. It doesn't go "to the hilt" like you're filming porn. The tip goes a few inches in, and other guy's in agonizing pain. Try wiggling around in your chair, that's dozens and dozens of muscles maintaining your core. Well, 5-6 of them were just severed and you're leaking shit into your adbomen, along with your lunch. You can still wiggle, but it's like you have a broken rib. While it doesn't do as much damage as a bowie knife, it's no less a medical emergency.

And there is nothing stopping the stabber from retreating, the sword is so smooth it simply can not catch.

In this scene of reality in 2014 ukraine a shaky helmet fights through an ambush. This particular scene shows a complete disregard for modern military tactics which ends up in with one faction suffering many losses. Two of which can be witnessed at about 2 minute mark.

That fight is extremely innacurate. First of all they're using leather heavy metal armour, which is extremely innacurate.

They are overswinging and not using their shields correctly, why have a shield if you strike and your shield isn't hiding your arm where you are striking?

This is how "viking" (Viking is just a buzzword for anything Dark ages Europe) fighting was fought
