how much ammo do you guys keep at one time
>>
About a thousand rounds then restock at the 500 mark.
>>
i have about sixty million rounds now. i usually have trucks come by and stock it in a building near my yard. my wife keeps bugging me about it. what do i say?
>>
>>29515018
yeah i do the same thing
>>
>>29515034
tell her you'll have the trucks go around back instead. That should get her off your back
>>
>>29514997
At minimum, enough to keep all my mags filled

I usually only buy more than that when I go to the range
>>
>>29515047
how many mags do you have?
>>
I try to keep at least 200 for my range guns. I would hoard ammo but i would go broke
>>
>>29515117
Roughly 6 for each longarm. 2 or 3 for my pistols.
>>
>>29515121
magazines?
>>
>>29514997
i keep enough ammo to fill at least 1 5.56 ammo can. I leave them in the boxes as well and that usually feels like a decent limit on everything except for .22 which is 20 or so bricks
>>
>>29514997
a thousand rounds of for each caliber, I'll reload / buy at the 700 mark
3000 .22lr, trying to not get under 2000
200 12 ga slugs because that shit takes to much space.

>>29514997
At one point I had 820 rounds, now I don't. Kind of antsy to get those mags filled again.
>>
>>29515117
i think 10 is a good number for semi auto guns you use frequently. you have just enough to use, replace, or store away in case they become too hard or too expensive to buy more of.
>>
>>29515141
no he means rounds
>>
>>29514997
Enough to keep all of my magazines full plus a little. I just don't see the point in having more but also I buy extra mags for each gun. The 229, I have a 7 mags for and 3 mags for the 320.
So that's 10 15 round mags plus a box of ammo, in total I guess I keep it right around 200 rounds of 9mm but it's also ready to go.
For the ar, I've got like another dozen mags all loaded.
I keep one full 25 she'll bandolier per shotgun and I've got a couple tube mash feed marlins that I keep about 300 rounds per each.

Does that answer your question?
>>
how long is a average time a mag can stay loaded ? and how long it should stay empty until reloading again ?
>>
>>29514997

atf pls go
>>
>>29514997

If I had that much 5.56 I think I'd have a permanent erection.

Right now I have about

2500 rds 5.56

1000 7.62x54r

2200 rds 9mm

Planning on buying another 2k 5.56 soon.
>>
>>29515663
>how long is a average time a mag can stay loaded ?
Any modern magazine empty itself automatically after 40 days to release spring tension.
>how long it should stay empty until reloading again ?
post 2003 mags can stay empty 10 days, after that they will an hero, lured in autodestruction by emptiness in existence.
>>
>>29515663
Forever.
It's ready to go again right after reloading.
>>
>>29515715
>autodestruction by emptiness in existence.
goddamn nihilist magazines. this is why i stick to clips. at least they have the decency to be God-fearing, like proper devices.

Even those heathen helical mags acknowledge the existence of God.
>>
>>29515706
Jesus christ. How much is all that worth?
>>
I try to keep a minimum of 3k per rifle and 1k per pistol, with 11 mags per rifle and 5 per pistol.

Its pointless to have 500k rounds and 2 rifles, or 2000 rounds and 20 rifles. Its about balance.

Something like $1600.

To me it's not nearly enough ammo, its about the minimum I feel comfortable having. I wish I had 10k 5.56 and about 5-8k 9mm. Ammo is only getting more expensive and during panic buys 9 and 556 are the first to dry up.

>but inflation
even taking into account inflation, ammo will only get more expensive.
>>

I actually havent bought geco from them in a while. PPU is cheaper and just as good. With the exception of that bit of geco there, all my ammo, in all calibers is PPU.

bout to go in on some bulk 5.56 with my brother, where and what would you suggest in the M193 and/or MK 262 flavor?
>>
>>29516321

I've got 11k or so 7n6 when it was cheap, the rest is commercial. I got in that game at the right time, cheap ammo and $10 surplus mags, good times.

I really need to work on my 5.56 stash, I've got 4 complete AR's and 6 or so more lowers.
>>
>>29516370

I would imagine they are like the DAG 7.62x51 plastic training ammo.
>>
>>29516410

as far as M193 goes, whatever is cheapest. If its made by a respectable brand, most M193 is nearly identical.

ie PPU vs. PMC vs. Federal, pretty much only vary in terms of how clean the brass is. Should have nearly identical ballistics.

i wanted to get into 5.45 a few years ago. i think 7n6 was going for $200 a case at the time.
what made me not get into, funnily enough, was right when i was buying mags and looking at guns and ammo, aim surplus had a free shipping promotion on surplus 5.45.
i had been watching their supply over the past few weeks prior and overnight they went from 2000+ available cases to 500+.
it really illustrated how volatile surplus imported ammo could be and scared me off.
now that surplus 5.45 has dried up, looking back i should have just jumped into it. i would have had a decent enough stash by now and i could shoot current production.
its too late for me to get into it now though, even though its still pretty affordable, it doesnt interest me anymore

I have about 4K 9mm of various types, 2K 556, 1K Mak, and 2K .22lr. I shoot regularly, so i just rotate my stick. I've been keping a few extra rounds since the recent panics just in case any run into short supply so I can keep shooting.

Ammos cheap and doesn't take up that much space in these numbers.

>probably too much for my p64, but I'll shoot it eventually. It was on sale.

12 years of inflation, import bans, profiteering from panic buys and supply and demand is why we dont see that anymore.

>>
>>29514997
In Canada, we are limited by Explosives Act regulations that were completely changed as of February 2014. Most people don't know about these regulations (and they are almost never enforced) but we are limited to 225 kg of ammunition at any given location, as measured by the propellant in the cartridges (disregard the weight of the bullet, primer, and case). This works out to roughly 57,000 .30-06 rounds.

In certain provinces, municipalities can also set a lower limit.
>>
Broke as fuck trying to finish school. Only about 400 rounds for my Glock(s) 9mm and 200ish in .45
>>
>>29516853
Limit of 57,000 rifle rounds.

Well I'm out.
>>
>>29516905
Keep in mind that if you had shotgun or pistol rounds, you would have to decrease your number of rifle rounds accordingly. Also, we are limited to 75kg total loose propellant and black-powder (for reloading) stored at any given location. Unfortunately, my city (Windsor, Ontario) cucks us to 10kg total loose propellant and black-powder.
>>
I try to keep at least 1,000 rounds of 5.56, 300 of 9mm, and 3,000 .22lr..

I'm jealous.

Nice setup and nice ammo cans.

Do you store your ammo loose in the cans?

I have all of your typical calibers (no .40 S&W), but you are correct, I do have a large assortment of milsurp ammo.

A few thousand for each ammo type you care about. Remember kids, ammo doesn't go bad (it takes a long time), and it won't lose value.

I have a semi decent collection, sorta

Also, buy lots of mags. You can never have enough.

Not enough, I keep saying I'll buy more ammo, but the mark up where I live is ridiculous. So I just keep buying guns and gun parts, waiting till I move back to a free state in about a year to feed them.

want to buy me a rifle, but im a newfag when it comes to everything /k/ so i had just being lurking in silence.
Are .22 a good choice? Do they pack any actual punch?
Can hardly get my hands on much more in my cunt but we have a shit ton of wilderness and i want to go just rifle in hand and shoot at everything in a desolate enough zone.
The thin is that in my zone there are Pumas and a couple other as big predators and im wondering if a .22 would be like throwing paper and spit balls at them
>>
>>29522361
.22s are the popular choice for a first rifle BECAUSE they don't pack a punch. You can learn how to handle a gun by shooting one all day without breaking the bank or your shoulder.

Ammo can be found for 5-10 cents a round, compared to .223 which are 20-25 cents a round.
>>
>>29522382
So no Anon-Puma war any time soon?
Welp, if i see one i'll run like hell
Thanks
I do know to shoot because i was teach in case of needing it, but only with a 9mm pistol and i lack knowledge about anything /k/ related since it was only some days as a kid and as a teenager shooting and a ''just in case, it can't hurt'' way of seeing it from my parent

There have been 1911 magazines loaded during WWII that have been fired 70 years later and still work properly. Compression doesn't hurt springs, both compression and release does.

Just a heads up boys, PSA has free shipping on 55gr Federal 5.56 XM193 if you order 25 boxes for $6.99.
thats .35cpr shipped, not bad. Though buying freedom munitions ammo in that amount is a little cheaper cause their shipping is really cheap

Almost 600 green tip I never touch and around j00 FMj, which I need to restock soon. Also about 800 rounds 9mm and about 500 22lr, as I don't shoot it often
>>
>>29516370

Neither. They are surplus training rounds, there just haven't been any imported because of obama blocks and perceived lack of demand. I don't think a lot of you guys realize how much our government and NATO tries to give incentives to prior combloc countries to destroy surplus ammo and weapons rather than sell them
>>
>>29516425
I remember just a few years ago it was as cheap as .22, about 3 cents a round, but the problem was no one produced factory AR15 uppers that could shoot it. I think S&W was the first one to come out with one

I used to have 1k rounds of magtech's(READ CBC) 262 Mod 1 Clone. That shit was hitting 2850 out of my 18" SPR Clone at Sea level(45 Degrees). I was pulling 1/2 MOA at 100m with that shit. It can't be found online any more thanks to a Brazilian Military order. It was supposed to become available again early March but all the places I have seen are still out of stock. I discovered the round by random chance @ Coastal Farm and ranch of all places. If I ever see that shit again online I will be ordering it in >>29514997 size quantities.
>>
>>29524084
oh and it was running 585/1k online.

for eurocucks lurking the thread, Conrad has silica bags for cheap as dirt. And as many of us have to keep their ammo in a safe or locked thing it's a must have, generally the temperature inside will be lower than outside and humidity in the air will condense into.
Once they are colored, put silica bags in the oven, less than 100 °C for an hour, they can be reused a couple of times.

I try to buy at least a box or two for each of my guns every week.

Sometimes though I'll get several hundred dollars at once for one gun if i can find a good deal.

I'm not even sure how much I have right now but I only have 3 guns at the moment a .357 S&W 686 which i try to keep equal supplies of .38.spcl and .357 stored up for.

One 9mm and one 5.56

I probably have the most 9mm out of anything else and im dangerously low on .357 right now. I think I only have one box plus a few rounds in a speed loader.

I have 6 empty 30cal cans that I can fill up with ammo. So I have a long way to go.
