Floridian newfriend in terms of exercising my 2nd amendment, I've always wanted to but haven't felt the need, now I'm bored and feel like getting it out of the way.

However, it's sort of hard to figure out how to go about this(I've spent an hour on google and can't make heads or tails, a lot of websites say different shit). Do you get the license first, then are able to take classes? or do you take classes THEN get the license?
>>
>>29511921

Honestly OP, given the way that you wrote this post, you sound schizophrenic.

I hope you are not successful in your aim to obtain a firearm.
>>
>>29511938
I'm tired, and intoxicated, I haven't slept after work. I'm just in a weird motivated mood to get shit done(I plan on doing this completely sober)
>>
>>29511921
You mean concealed carry? Take the class, get your packet in order, do your fingerprints, and send that shit to the department of agriculture. The gun shop/gun show you do the class at will tell you how to do it properly

Buying a gun is a 5 business day wait in Dade and broward, cash and carry for rifles and shotguns in non shit counties. Just don't be a felon, mental defective, or get charged with domestic violence.
>>
>>29511921
>exercising my 2nd amendment
You are joining a militia?
>>
>>29511921
>drunk before noon on a wednesday
Yeah you're definitely from Florida.
>>
People in Florida have to get a license to own a firearm? That's news to me. I thought Florida was a free state not a cuck one.

OP needs to go into a local gun store and just ask someone.
>>
>>29511952
Ah, that's really just what I wanted to know, if any license was required to get one.

>>29511968
Nah, just felt like saying it, I just feel like going to ranges every now.

>>29511972
Yep. Can also hear police sirens outside too.
>>
>>29511977

not to own, but for concealed carry.

florida doesn't give a fuck if you own one, as long as you aren't bottom-feeding scum.
>>
>>29511992
Why the fuck would you think you needed a gun license in a free state?
>>
>>29512039
I'm so jaded to the world that I didn't know that we were THAT free still, honest mistake.
>>
>>29511938
He doesnt sound schizophrenic. You sound autistic and you have terrible reading comprehension. If you have aspergers/autism, or an iq below 105, dont go get a gun.

Anyways OP, you sign up for classes, at the end of the 8 hours required by state law, you get a certidicate and you pay a fee to get a ccw license. Not sure if you have to get fingerprinted. Anyways it gets processed through the state and then the county police dept, to the county sherrif, who signs your license. It then gets mailed to your house and you carry the license on you AT ALL TIMES. Good luck
>>
>>29511977
Huuuurrrrrrrr
>>
>>29512258

Actually, I don't sound autistic. You do.

i'm in palm beach county area, so there's no woods here unless i go to the everglades, which is just swamp and I'm pretty sure I can't actually shoot in there.

There's no license to own a gun in florida, just pass a background check, only if you want to concealed carry. Open carry is illegal across the board.
>>
>>29511921

Here ya go floridabro.
These are the forms for stuff.https://licensing.freshfromflorida.com/forms/FormsRequest790.aspxhttps://licensing.freshfromflorida.com/forms/FormsRequest790.aspx
>>
>>29512303

Okeechobee county has a nice outdoor range.
Corbitt area is closer. Find a country boy to show you around.
>>
>>29511921
Take the class, go to the sheriffs office to get fingerprinted, mail everything in and wait a month. At the class they will tell you everything you need to know. FYI you don't have to take the class if you have a hunting license, since the hunter's ed course you took counts.
>>
>>29512303
Markham Park has a nice outdoor range with pistol and carbine drills.
>>
>>29512283
Not to mention he answered it wrong. Flroda CC permits are a Dept. Of agriculture thing because Florida is retarded. Yet you need to get fingerprinted by your local sheriff's office/submit them and have them accepted for application along with your proofs of spending $50 to shoot a .22 into a clearing bucket behind bubba's pawn and gun. Oh and a fee to the tune of 100ish dollarydoos because fuck you.
>>
>>29512619

Some cc classes have certified fingerprinters and can do them there.
>>
>>29512576
>BSO has a nice range at Markham for pistol and carbine drills
Ftfy

The 100 yard range "citizens" get isn't shit but it is staffed by necrotic retirees who enjoy putting cylinder rings on revolvers, dry firing on empty chambers, and knocking rifles against concrete tables.
>>
>>29512306
Open carry is legal while hiking, hunting, and fishing. Also there is a bill in the Florida legislature to legalize open carry "across the board"

>$100 to get a permit
>have to pay $100 for your rights

As a Floridian turning 21 in a week, this pisses me off greatly.
>>
>>29511977
The only license required is for concealed carry, so you can just go to your local fun shop and purchase any firearm given that you have the proper age and have a clean background, also some places require a 3-5 day waiting period before you get the firearm.
>>
>>29512331
I like okechobee, but I just want to go innawoods, not pay for a range.
I'll try out corbitt at some point, aren't you not allowed to have more than X amount of rounds out there though?

>>29512576
>>29512693
Markham a shit, seriously fuck that range and all of those old fudds.
>>
Where's a good place in SW Florida to go innawoods?
>>
>>29513549

Idk. I haven't been there in ages and have no want to go again.
>>
>tfw only public range is in the forest about 45 minutes away
It's heavily used and people can be stupid sometimes. Last time I went there I was about 20 minutes late to some guy on the shotgun side messing around with it loaded and firing it off on the ground. The scatter of shot hitting the cement made a good few people get small wounds.

Definitely ain't going back there.

Please be joking. Everywhere I see, it's $40 for the fingerprints and $70 for the permit.
>>
What holsters do you FL guys use for IWB/AIWB? I read a lot of good things about the Stealthgear offerings.
>>
>>29512306
How are you so wrong fucker?

Open carry is completely legal in florida going to and from the range, so if you need ammo enroute? Go in walmart with your ak or ar in full view and there is nothing illegal about it, as long as you have ammo amongst whatever else your buying.
>>
>>29517796
I don't carry yet but I'm looking at either bravo or raven for an appendix holster
>>
>>29517900
May I ask what you're carrying? I have a USP9c now and I'm looking at a P938/G43 for the near future.
>>
>>29517912
I don't have a carry gun yet, only a p226. Looking to getting a shield or a 43
>>
>>29517928
Word. Reporting from south Florida here, it's too hot to conceal a full size/compact in shorts/plain shirt.

Miamifag here, it wouldn't be out of the realm of possibility to cc a compact. I was initially planning on getting a p239 since I rarely ever wear shorts.

A good holster/belt combo is key

No shit. I didn't think Miami was represented on /k/. I picked up a Beltman 1.5" belt an an Alien Gear Cloak Tuck 3.0, but the latter wouldn't cover my trigger guard, so I sent it back.

>>29517887
Open carry is legal going to and from hunting, fishing, or camping. You're permitted to open carry a firearm walking from the parking lot to the range, but please don't open carry your gat in public.
>>
>>29518078

The p239 is a great pistol anon. I have one chambered in 9mm, and it shoots like a laser.

My only gripe is for a "compact" it's damn near the weight of a p226 or p229, with like half the capacity. But alas, I have a hard on for all metal guns.

You walk into a gun store with your drivers license and money. You fill out a 4473. You walk out with your purchases. I'd suggest planning on $1000 for your first purchase.

>Gun
>2nd magazine
>Ammo (100+ rounds)
>Accessories
>>Carrying case
>>Cleaning supplies
>>Sling or holster
>>
>>29518227
I really want to get a gen 2 sas p239 and be done with it instead of buying some bullshit shield or glock 43 and have to put a bunch of upgrades on it.

My main gun is the p226 so I want to get something that translates to actual carry but I think size will be a huge factor so I'm opting not to get one. Such a shame since they're actually very shootable.
>>
>>29513607
Myakka is a nice place.

Where are you at, anon? Sarasotafag reporting in.
>>
>>29518486

I wouldn't say that it's not a good carry option. It's a fine carry gun. You could also carry the p226 depending on your frame.

I would EDC either over some tupperware pistol any day of the week.
>>
>>29518658
>You could also carry the p226 depending on your frame.

I'm a 5'7" 135lb skellington in Dale County. Fuck no I can't
>>
>>29511952
That's just a Dade and Broward thing? Good to know.
>>
Broward checking in. When I want to shoot off range I hunt pigs because they're tasty. Not sure where else you'd go... State is so flat there's nothing to fire into.

Markham is fine... The ROs have to keep the general public in line so no one gets shot. You couldn't pay me enough to do that job. Any rate it's meant as a rifgle range... 5 seconds per shot... There are more convenient, indoor ranges with AC if you want to blaze away in FL.
>>
>>29517036
You are correct, it's not $200 for the permit. It's $42 for prints and $70 for the application for a total of $112.

HOWEVER, you have to take a concealed weapons course and submit your completion certificate when you put in your application. These courses are anywhere from $50-200 depending on where you go. There's one at the gun shows that travel around the state and they're usually the cheapest.

HOWEVERx2, if you're active/retired military you can provide a copy of your DD214 in place of the course and that's accepted as your certificate, so you only pay the $112.

t. Orlando milfag w/ CCW.
>>
>>29520551
Or you can attend a free hunter safety course, skip the class, and file your paperwork.

I'm probably going to get ccw just to avoid 5 day wait in Broward.
>>
>>29520712
>Or you can attend a free hunter safety course, skip the class, and file your paperwork.

Oh that's nice. I might do that.
