What can you tell me about the future of non-lethal weapons ?

They'll be pretty non-lethal
>>
>>29501455
In the future we will all be dickgirls and guns will be replaced with rubber dildo launchers
>>
>>29501455
Nanomachines, son

They will become more lethal

Ive kind of thrown around the idea of using psychoactives as less lethal chemical weapons, but so far there doesn't be something that'll work. Nicotine is pretty much a neurotoxin at higher doses, and though that'll actually be pretty effective its also pretty fucking lethal. Fentanyl is the only opiate that works in low enough doses but theres a ball hair's breadth between death and unconsciousness. I wondered about salvinorin A, but it'll likely not absorb easily enough and might take to long to have much of an effect. Most other substances take too long to have a strong effect.

If any anons have ideas I'll be glad to hear them

Infrasound could also be interesting. Apparently if hit by sound at the resonant frequency of eyeballs you experience blurred vision and pain. One could experiment with different organ's resonant frequencies to see which incapacitates the best.

Microwave pain rays might also be and option if they can be miniaturised.

Freehold, (aside from being a somewhat silly fantasy about an objectivist utopia) had an array of "Less-lethal" weapons used by the UN to pacify their space colonies. Aside from the obvious things like expanding foam and blinding agents, there were also a bunch of "non-lethal" bioweapons for use against guerilla's. Basically infect a region with a debilitating flu and vaccinate anyone who comes in to be genescanned and RFID chipped.

Personally, I still believe you should never shoot someone with anything that will leave them capable of retaliation.

Ideally when TASER's patents run out more companies will start competing and that will drive the price of those down along with the actual competition leading to multi shot versions that aren't $1000+. Eventually we might see ammunition like the TASER 12 gauge shells that isn't over $100 per round.
>>
>>29502570
Yeah, no.
Short of nanomachines, son, the dosage for any sort of drug would be too variable and need to be too finely controlled to be effective at subduing more than a couple of known people.

There's a reason why Anesthesiologists make pretty good money. And it's not because it's a motherfucker to spell.
>>
>>29501455
They will always be inferior to firearms in a self defense senario
>>
>>29503359
I'm not sure about that, those TASER brand TASER 12 gauge slugs seem like they'd be pretty effective. Enough momentum to shove the barbs through anything you're wearing and instant STOPPIN POWA on a hit.

Ether

Ever read that Eoin Colfer book Supernaturalists? Expect OC, electroshock, KE, and expanding material weapons. More importantly, expect them to miniaturize to the point that they fit and cycle in standard infantry weapons.

ya sure cause who doesn't like the idea of taking someone down with only the power of the placebo effect
>>
>>29505364
>device causes the muscles near the surface of your skin to contract causing your limbs to lock up
>placebo
Pick one and only one. I really hope you aren't confusing stun guns and TASERs anon-kun.
>>
>>29505592
>electrical current has enough amperage to make mussel spasm
>doesn't stop the heart
pick one

also even if it was capable of causing the mussel to spasm it would only make the mussel between the leads of the taser
>>
>>29503802

Colfer is a hack and that's a stupid book. Kindly please return to 5th grade.

High micro pulse frequency weapon (HMPFW)

kind like a death ray microwave weapon
but in the future they have one that has a pulse weapon that shoots down targets at a location that can knock them down like a massive nerve system melt down and the person goes hay wire

micro pulse penetrate the targets brain waves causing them to have no control over their muscles its like a giat signal scrambler but shoots mass brain waves at long distance that can cause even death if the person is hit at the chest area.
>>
>>29503707
Is a carcinogen.

An ideal non-lethal weapon has the following qualities:
>is in fact non-lethal, and carries a very, very low risk of death to healthy individuals
>does not cause permanent physical damage unless under unusual or extreme conditions
>stops the target rapidly
>stops ONLY the target with minimal collateral
>effects subside in a reasonable amount of time! or has a "cure" that can be used help those affected by it
>cannot easily be turned on the user (ie., throwing tear gas back at police)
>is economically feasible to use (doesn't need expensive containing equipment or deploying mechanisms).

Generally you are looking at a compromise between these factors. Ether is an indiscriminate cloud, still takes time to work, is toxic, and would likely require a bunch of new infrastructure to store, use, and transport.

Hey, I own one of those paintball pistols.

It's pretty decent actually.
>>
>>29505727
>>electrical current has enough amperage to make mussel spasm
>>doesn't stop the heart
Boy you're stupid, it only affects the muscles/nerves near your skin and not those inside your ribcage because the electricity takes the path of least resistance. Unless you make extra long darts to penetrate significantly deeper or the person's heart is on the outside of their chest, you aren't going to stop it.
>>
>>29502600
>Infrasound
might run into the same issue that happened with the microwave ray emmiters with the that's cruel and unusual wanna know whats cruel and completely normal every ones fine with firing a high speed lead projectile coated in copper that penetrates your flesh and yaws violently while ripping its self apart causing sharp fragments to tear into your soft flesh and organs causing them to rupture and bleed and mabey even causing some to liquefy. As you lay on the ground gasping for air you realise your lungs can no longer hold air as you cough up your own blood. ill take any microwave ray temporary incapacitation over that
>>
>>29505955
so the people who have died from being tazed are still alive then

it is high enough in voltage to go a lot deeper than the leads just not farther away from the other lead
this means if the top lead hits any higher than your heart it does in part travel through the heart
>>
>>29505955
also certain organs conduct electricity better than mussel

>>

It appears that you also failed science class anon-kun, because electricity simply does not work in the way you are claiming that it does.
>>
>>29506271
ya you should read a text book sometime because it does

but arguing further would be pointless as both our heads are up our asses

youtube has plenty of vids of being tazed and not being incapacitated though which proves that guns are more effective

mussels are the best non lethal weapon.

The quickest, most efficient, and most guaranteed way to defend yourself from an aggressor is to kill them.

>>

>ya you should read a text book sometime because it does
No, it doesn't. Unless you are manually sticking the barbs into someone, that isn't going to be a problem because the electricity isn't going to travel a longer, less conductive path than necessary.

>youtube has plenty of vids of being tazed and not being incapacitated
Yeah, considering that's what happens if you don't get good hits with both barbs. The 12 gauge TASER shells mostly eliminated that problem unless you shoot someone who's laying on the ground or something. Also, in case you haven't noticed, there are a lot of videos out there of people not being incapacitated after being shot several times.

this is true but eventually they die or get medical assistance

the barbs not contacting only furthers the point but there are people who have been tazed and got electrical burns but were never incapacitated
